It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.
How much luggage can I take?
We don't have an exact policy when it comes to luggage though we just ask our customers to be mindful that we have limited space. Generally we recommend people to bring a large backpack/suitcase with all their gear and another smaller backpack to keep on the bus and hold their daily items ( phone, water bottle, towel, sunscreen etc ) and which they used to take on walks etc. If you have a lot of luggage is best to leave the things you don't need at your hotel/hostel where they will store it for free.
Where can I store my luggage whilst on tour?
During the tour your main luggage will be stored in our trailer. This trailer is always locked however we cannot guarantee the complete safety of your gear from theft or damage. This is why it is so important to purchase a good travel insurance. If you need to store your luggage whilst away on tour, this can be done through your accommodation. Most hostel and hotels will store your luggage safely free of charge.

For camping tours there will be no time to do laundry. However, for longer cross country tours involving hostel or hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to wash your clothes.

Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Can I get online whilst travelling?
For tours incorporating hostel/hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to use wireless internet or use of nearby internet cafe. If you have a mobile plan with internet then that should be ok except for more remote regions. This will vary from tour to tour so please contact us directly for more accurate information.
Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?
You can use your mobile while touring in Australia or New Zealand, but coverage may be limited in remote areas. For best connectivity, consider purchasing a local SIM card or an international roaming plan.

That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible. Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. Who travels with us
Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
What does "Paid Locally" mean?
Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.
Whilst on tour
What type of tent will I get?
Tents are generally designed to accommodate a minimum of 2 people. This means there is plenty of room to move about and store your luggage. However, most Uluru tours we try and encourage the use of swags and mattress rather than tents. This is the ideal way to camp in the centre of Australia; Around a campfire, under the stars!
What will the food be like?
Our emphasis is on fresh food wherever possible and our meals are nutritious and varied on these tours. If you are vegetarian or gluten intolerant we can cater for you, but if you have very specific dietary needs you may need to provide your own food, please discuss this at time of booking. For breakfast we supply cereals, fruits, toast, tea and coffee. Lunch is usually a self-serve picnic sandwich and salads; in the evening we have a cooked dinner - This can vary between pastas, bbqs, rices and other hearty food to keep you energized! We always carry water in the vehicle and you will often have the chance to buy your own drinks, ice-creams etc at stops. Please refer to each individual tour/package to establish which meals are included.
Can you cater of special diets?
We can certain cater for most dietary needs. Please advise us at the time of your booking so arrangements can be made. For travellers with more extreme diets we may ask that you bring along additional snacks.
Can I book extra accommodation for the start and end of the tour?
We know our country inside and out and would be happy to give you good recommodations. Please contact us for recommendations.
Are there days where we travel for a long time?
During the first day we usually do a couple of hours driving to get out of the city and into the country side. However, once in the national parks, trips between attractions usually take between 30minutes to an hour. For tours heading up to Darwin or down to Adelaide, expect periods where we drive for a few hours at a time. Australia is enormous and the distance between towns and attractions can be quite large. But don't worry, we take plenty of breaks so your able to stretch and move about. For more accurate information please see tour itineraries.
What will the weather be like?
Between the months of April and August Central Australia is quite cold so be sure to bring warm clothing. Temperatures range from about 20c during the day right down to 2c at night.Between October and March temperature are warm, so light clothing during the day is ok. However, night times can still be quite cool so its wise to bring light winter clothing for extra warm.
Where do I meet the tour?
For pick up times and locations, please check out the "Start/Finish" section directly under the itinerary. Here we list everywhere we can pick up from and their respective times. There is a lot of information here to help you plan your flights and arrival. Please review careful as these can vary from tour to tour.
What is the weather like in Western Australia?
WA is Australia’s largest state, comprising one-third of its land mass. In the north much of the landscape is barren. The Great Sandy Desert fringes the central-west coast. The Nullarbor, a vast dry plain, sweeps across the south and over the border into South Australia (SA). The southwestern corner of the state is a fertile area of forest and vineyards, and is only small in comparison to the size of the rest of WA.Interesting variations in landscape include the Kimberley in the extreme north of the state, a wild and rugged area with a convoluted coastline and stunning inland gorges. The Pilbara, in the northwest, is magnificent ancient-rock and gorge country from which the state derives vast mineral wealth. Away from the coast most of WA is simply a huge empty stretch of outback: along with the Nullarbor Plain and the Great Sandy Desert, the Gibson and Great Victoria Deserts cover much of the state. It’s tropical in the north, where the Dry and Wet seasons replace winter and summer. The Dry lasts from June to August and the Wet from December to February, with monsoonal rain falling from January onwards. The rain can render roads impassable and Port Hedland weathers a serious cyclone at least every two years. In the interior the climate is semi-arid and arid. The southwest of WA is temperate. It’s often above 25°C here while the average temperature along the Kimberley coast is a heavenly 28°C. Up in the Pilbara temperatures can soar to an enthusiasm-depleting 48°C.
Reviews
“A Must Do”
This tour is a true once in a lifetime experience. The places we visited and the things we learnt were absolutely breathtaking and incredible. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Our tour guide Natalie was so friendly and fun, she made the tour feel like a family trip, even though we all started as strangers the group felt so tight knit and close because of Nat's leadership, she was the perfect person to lead this kind of experience.
“Amazing west coast trip 11/10”
Just finished Perth to Broome tour and had the privilege to had this amazing experience shared with a lovely group of people and the best tour guide ever. From seeing dolphins on Monkey Mia to snorkel with the manta rays in coral bay and swim with the whale sharks in exmouth… all of these water experiences would leave someone speechless. To add up we did the best hike / gorges in Karijini and chilled in the natural lakes, and of course stargazed at night. What a privilege to have done all of these during our 10 day trip. What made the absolute difference here was Michael, our tour guide, he was 11/10, with an incredible historical knowledge (and geological) provided us the best food I have ever had on this type of trips and was always restless giving us the best experience ever.
“Very enjoyable”
Rhonda and I did 10 day tour Darwin to Broome leaving 19th April. Michael was amazing. We had people from many countries and all ages from 19 to 72. Michael could communicate at all levels and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of our tour. He was helpful and considerate and looked after all our needs extremely well. We would have no hesitation in recommending this tour and Michael to everyone. If we could give him 10 stars out of 5 we would.
“Super awesome trip!”
Super nice trip with top people and super nice guide. Everything was well taken care of and felt very comfortable and safe. Beautiful things seen and done.
“fun trip on the west coast in australia”
The places we visited were great, tons of nature every day, the best sunrises and sunsets. We got picked up on time and took off with our new house on wheels, the white truck. Micheal was the best tourguide: Young, wild organized. Our day was full of adventures, we saw as much as we could and listened to interesting history and life stories. He always took very much care of us, ran back up to get more water, looked for everyone to be safe, he had such a positive and happy attitude which made the whole bus laugh every single morning. Only good vibes, jamming to the music in the front seats and waving to passing cars. Bus rides were quite long and bumby not the most comfortable, sometimes just with a few photo stops. It’s not a luxury tour, frogs and spiders in the toilet while camping, no shower on one day or distances without service. We were busy from packing up at 6am until arriving for sunset, then making dinner and enjoying evenings together. Accommodation varied from 10 bed dorms to 2 person tents and single swags. Some of our favorite memories were watching the stars every night, making smores over the bonfire, cooking with the team, sunset nights by a lighthouse or on the beach, going abseiling (optional). Some tours are not included in the price, for example snorkeling with manta rays or whalesharks, glass bottom boat… Other extra expenses could be spent on good coffee, roadhouse food or any souvenirs. We spend our day on the beautiful beaches, shell beach, coral bay or in the nationalparks where we did quite a few rocky hikes, which are really fun with the most beautiful landscape but you needed quite some level of fitness. If your a geologist definitely go for the west coast australia. Our tour guide put so much effort in to make this trip as memorable as possible, cooked a 5 star gourmet greek or mexican food or a barbecue. We had special breakfast like french toast or eggs or pancakes. He hold up his promises by making us bread or getting eggs for those who wanted more protein. And try to prepare yourself for rolling up your wrap every lunch! In every situation our guide came up with a good solution, he was very welcoming and open to everyone so we all quite bonded as a team so work like setting stuff up for food, cooking, cleaning worked out perfectly. And there was still lots of freedom, just taking shifts on cooking or dishes. We went swimming in the best beautiful spots and when we couldn’t swim because of gross water he took his time in the „planned free afternoon“ to take those to another swimming hole. We saw the best parts of the westcoast with such a fun group even tho the age difference was almost 60 years. Everyone was respectful and so encouraging.
“One of the best tours”
This trip went above and beyond expectations. Food, experiences and a great group of people but most of all our tour guide Michael. His non stop attention to detail, hard work, knowledge and sense of humor made this trip unforgettable.
Planning our next Adventure Tour.
“happy days”
Wow wow wow....where to begin..beautiful sunsets, abseiling through history, swimming with manta rays and whale sharks.....and this is only scratching the surface i havent even mentioned stromatolites.
Group was amazing and the guide michael his knowledge, story telling, Cooking and endless energy this man was a amazing...adventure tours Lucky to have him he really was integral to the success of the trip
Happy days
“10 amazing Days”
I had the most amazing time doing the Perth to Broome tour with Michael. Once on board the bus, I had an adventure filled trip and by the end I made 19 new friends, stepped outside my comfort zone and made memories that’ll last a lifetime time.
This trip had it all, from abseiling and hiking adventures, snorkelling with manta rays and whale sharks, swimming in beautiful gorges to chilling at the beach and seeing Australian wildlife right outside your tent. There are multiple options for additional adventures. Our guide made sure to inform us about every option and gave us a rough idea of the level of fitness needed for walks including giving alternatives if possible.
Accommodation varies from hostel dorms (10 beds) to swag camping with basic facilities.
The food was absolutely amazing and beyond my expectations for a camping trip. Michael was always cautious and creative with food alternatives for special dietary needs.
The organisation of the trip was smooth and it was made sure that we had enough breaks and (most important) snacks to keep the mood up.
Michael is a guide that has all the knowledge, tunes and dedication to make this trip even more special.
Thanks to Team days of the week
“Interesting, energetic, great craic altogether.”
Australian adventure tours run a well.organised and tight ship. Joe, our leader, was driver, cook, tour guide, joker, historian and good-natured sheep dog who was able to get us all on the bus, having breakfasted, pre-dawn so we were at the trail head at dawn. Of the six weeks we spent in Australia this three-day hiking and camping trip was the best.
“Back to nature experience”
This trip was busy with pre- dawn starts on 10 days to be able to experience Uluru at sunrise and King’s Canyon the next morning. The hikes are a grade 3, meaning you should train for it if you aren’t normally very active. Also, if you are in the Senior age range then I’d recommend a hiking pole for King’s Canyon.
Although the group size was larger than advertised (2 different length tour groups camped and traveled together), the people on my trip were quite responsible in getting packed up and ready to go on schedule, thanks to our tour guide’s clear instructions.
A fair bit of participation is required to get meals prepared and cleaned up.
The private permanent camps were well set up kitchen wise, though King’s was in need of some repairs. The sleeping bag provided was suitable for the 3 degree overnight temperatures we had. But beanies and extra warm clothing are a must when sleeping under the stars.
Overall, I was quite happy with the tour and saw a lot in the 10 days.
“Wondrous Uluru , Kata Tjuṯa & Kings Canyon”
This was an excellent adventure with a fun group of people but it would have not happened without our fabulous tour guides Abby & Libby. It was Libby’s first tour and you would not have known as she was amazing alongside Abby’s great guidance. Uluru base camp walk, sunset & sunrise, Kata Tjuṯa and Kings Canyon rim walk all wondrous beyond words. Truly blessed to have experienced these special and sacred places. Thankyou
“Best trip I never had”
Thank you for Ashy by adventure tours who well organized and reliable. Just come back from Uluru tour. That was amazing . Every one was so happy , we were first time to camp. I was quite impressed . I would highly recommend recommend.. well done!
“Great experience in Kakadu and Litchfield”
Super nice tour for 10 days in Kakadu and Litchfield. Super guide, excellent accommodation and well organized activities.
“Definite recommendation”
The walks were amazing and our guide had great stories about all the sites we visited! Waking up beneath the stars for a sunrise walk was absolutely magical
“Great (but wet and cold) tour to Uluru”
Great trip with a good guide.
The places they took us to was spectacular to see and the base walk at Uluru was surprisingly easy.
Abi was knowledgeable and took great care to accommodate everyone in the group, despite the very different abilities.
The first campsite (Ylara) was great, but the second (Kings Canyon Station) could use some more lights at night.
It was unfortunately cold and wet on the trip so make sure to bring extra layers (especially for night time) - this is of course not the company’s fault, but just something to be aware off.
“ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!!”
I would like to express a MASSIVE thanks to Tye and his expertise and professionalism throughout the trip it was an intriguing experience and thoroughly enjoyed every single moment from the start to finish, the stories he told us all were incredible and humorous he went above and beyond to ensure that everything went smooth and to plan. “Highly recommend”
Amazing trip with the best guide. Michael went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time and always made sure we got the most out of a busy itinerary. Great local knowledge and incredible food better than I’d make at home. Would highly recommend!
“Great experience in Kakadu and Litchfield”
Super nice tour for 4 days in Kakadu and Litchfield.
I’ll highly recommend this tour to others thanking you!

Had a great tour, and had the opportunity to marvel at so many amazing sites. Our guide was very knowledgeable and facilitated an amazing experience. Plenty of food and the camp sites had good facilities. Thank you!
“Must do experience”
Elyse was incredible! The whole trip went so smoothly and you could tell it was well organised. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the sights the red centre has to offer, even with the early wake up calls to beat the heat.would highly recommend using adventure tours if you are thinking of doing a trip to Uluru
