Experience 4×4 driving yourself in one of our tag-along vehicles whilst visiting the most amazing freshwater lakes and ancient rainforests. Bathe in the Champagne Pools and view incredible marine wildlife from atop Indian Head. View the Maheno shipwreck stranded along 75 Mile Beach set against the incredible coloured sands. Grab an inflatable tube and float down the famous Eli Creek. Be sure to look out for the wild dingoes while driving along the beach.
Our Fraser Island 4wd tours camp is located on the corner of one of the only privately-owned campsites on Fraser Island.
Day 1: Rainbow Beach to Lake McKenzie & Central Station
Leave Pippies Beachhouse at 7am sharp. Your Fraser Island tour kicks off with a 20-minute barge ride from Inskip Point to Fraser Island.
Drive up the first stretch of 75 Mile Beach to Eurong, then head inland towards Lake McKenzie.
Arrive at Lake McKenzie and take a dip in its incredibly pure, clear freshwater.
Drive to Central Station for lunch, then walk beside the waters of the very special Wanggoolba Creek and learn about Fraser Island's history from before the island was protected. From here we drive back to 75 Mile Beach and on to Pippies camp.
Arrive at our campsite and relax after a long day.
In the evening, cook a BBQ dinner together with your new Fraser Family and spend the night around the campfire or under the covered seating area.

Day 2: Champagne Pools, Indian Head & Eli Creek
Wake early (hangovers are no excuse!) for a simple breakfast of toast and cereal, then get back in the cars and head further north.
Arrive at the Champagne Pools to bathe as waves crash over the natural rock pools, creating the bubbly "champagne" effect. Then a short drive to the next stop.
Climb Indian Head, one of the few rock formations on the island, to spot marine wildlife off the coast — with luck you may see Humpback Whales (August–October), sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, huge rays and schools of tropical fish. Then drive back to Pippies camp for lunch.
A short drive down the beach is Eli Creek, the largest creek on the eastern beach. Walk up the boardwalk with a rubber ring and float down Eli Creek — it pumps up to 4 million litres of fresh water into the sea every hour!
Next is the Maheno shipwreck, a short drive from Eli Creek. As the sun lowers, watch the rusty wreck against the sea and the coloured sands along the coast.
Finally, a short stop at The Pinnacles on the way back to camp — a striking example of the coloured sands found all along the Fraser Coast.
Back at Pippies camp, freshen up in the amenities block a short walk away, then more food: cook spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread together, followed by another night socialising under the stars.

Day 3: Lake Wabby & return to Rainbow Beach
Wake for your last day. Another quick, simple breakfast before setting off for the final stop.
Drive down the eastern beach to the entrance of Lake Wabby. Walk 40–45 minutes along a sand track through the bush and out onto the Hammerstone Sandblow. A short walk further is Lake Wabby, the deepest lake on Fraser Island — take a dip and relax on its shores.
After lunch on the beach, make your way back to the barge and Rainbow Beach — but not before hunting for the elusive eugarie (pippi) and learning the meaning of the name Pippies.
Arrive back at Pippies Beachhouse in Rainbow Beach between 1pm and 4:30pm (depending on the tides). Chill for one last night with your new Fraser Family!
