Itinerary
Day 1: Fogg Dam to Kakadu National Park
An early morning start gets us out to greet the sunrise on the dynamic Adelaide River floodplains, home to a massive variety of birdlife, reptiles and mammals across wetlands, floodplains, woodlands and monsoonal forest – enjoy breakfast with the birds and coffee with the critters. We continue to Jabiru in the heart of World Heritage Kakadu National Park, our first stop the Bowali Centre for an introduction to the Park's landscape and indigenous history, plus a fresh picnic lunch. After lunch, a bird's-eye view of Kakadu from a light aircraft, before venturing to the East Alligator River for the award-winning Guluyambi Culture Cruise, 90 minutes of wildlife spotting and stories from a local Aboriginal guide (keep your hands in the boat, this river has one of the world's highest populations of estuarine crocodiles). Afterwards, a stroll among the ancient rock art of Ubirr, culminating in sunset nibbles and refreshments at Nadab Lookout overlooking the eternal Kakadu floodplains.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
Accom: Suite Room, Anbinik Resort.

Day 2: Yellow Water to Nourlangie
Up before the birds for a quick cuppa before we're off to Cooinda to join the world-renowned sunrise Yellow Waters Cruise, the perfect way to witness the wetlands waking up, backed by expert local commentary. Enjoy a full buffet breakfast at Cooinda Resort afterwards, before spending quality time at the comprehensive Aboriginal culture centre, Warradjan – featuring stories, images, crafts and art, and a chance to sit with female elders to learn the craft of string-making and weaving. We then journey to Anbangbang Billabong and Nourlangie, both rich in natural values and significant spiritual sites for the local indigenous people, privately guided through by a local Aboriginal guide. A late lunch follows the walk at Nourlangie before we head back to Darwin, arriving around 7:30pm.

Do I need to take any medical supplies?
It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.
How much luggage can I take?
We don't have an exact policy when it comes to luggage though we just ask our customers to be mindful that we have limited space. Generally we recommend people to bring a large backpack/suitcase with all their gear and another smaller backpack to keep on the bus for daily items ( phone, water bottle, towel, sunscreen etc ) and to take on walks. If you have a lot of luggage it's best to leave the things you don't need at your hotel/hostel where they will store it for free until your return. If you are unsure, please contact us.
Where can I store my luggage whilst on tour?
During the tour your main luggage will be stored in our trailer. This trailer is always locked however we cannot guarantee the complete safety of your gear from theft or damage. This is why it is so important to purchase a good travel insurance. If you need to store your luggage whilst away on tour, this can be done through your accommodation. Most hostel and hotels will store your luggage safely free of charge.

For camping tours there will be no time to do laundry. However, for longer cross country tours involving hostel or hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to wash your clothes.

Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Can I get online whilst travelling?
For tours incorporating hostel/hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to use wireless internet or use of nearby internet cafe. If you have a mobile plan with internet then that should be ok except for more remote regions. This will vary from tour to tour so please contact us directly for more accurate information.

Who travels with us
Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
What does Paid Locally mean?
Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?

“Great tour with a great guide”
Did a one day tour of northern Kakadu with this company. Our guide was Adam and he was very friendly and extremely knowledgable.
We visited several rock art sites, an escarpment overlooking Arnhem land and also had a river cruise from Cahill’s crossing upriver to see the crocodiles.
Not only was Adam very helpful on the day of our tour but he also offered lots of tips and advice for our next few days

“Litchfield day trip was great.”
Really relaxed tour - still able to wander around and do it at our own pace yet still covered what we wanted to do. The guide was very friendly and open to conversation from the whole group and did a great job of providing background knowledge and answering questions. Definitely recommend.

“Amazing Litchfield .”
This was the only guided tour we did while we were in Darwin last week. So pleased we did as our driver/guide, Carl was so knowledgeable from the moment he picked us up in the city. He also has a very good sense of humour. I will certainly be recommending your company. Lunch was very good as well.

“100% recommend this tour!”
What an amazing day! Our guide Adam was professional, respectful and very knowledgeable. At no point did we feel rushed and stopped often (and even went back) to see different things/animals. Food was delicious and plenty of it, even catering for different allergies and food choices. The cultural cruise was enjoyable and informative and again, not rushed. We even got to step into Arnhem Land. Thank you Bobo. We saw plenty of wildlife and awesome rock paintings. While we only got to experience a very small part of Kakadu we had a fantastic day. 100% recommend!

He didn’t talk excessively just great shared knowledge.

“Lovely experience”
We had a really enjoyable day trip to Litchfield with Ethical Adventures. The arrangements from booking through to drop off were seamless with great communication throughout, which was appreciated. Our guide was knowledgeable, well organised and adapted the stops and timing based on the local conditions. eg at this time of the year (May) not all swimming spots had been cleared by authorities for swimming yet, so he ensured we were aware of exactly where we were going and which stops would be for viewing vs swimming. We experienced 2 absolutely beautiful swimming spots, both with multiple areas for swimming and with plenty of time at each spot. This was in addition to other stops at waterfalls (for viewing - beautiful with plenty of water flowing), termite mounds (really intriguing) and lunch at a wetlands full of bird life. The food was plentiful and really enjoyable (with special mention of the delicious home made muffins for morning tea).
Note that some of the stops, in particular the swimming areas, may be difficult for those with mobility issues as some sections of the path can be steep and rocky. The rocks around the swimming areas can also be quite slippery (I'd suggest bringing some reef shoes). As an enhancement, it would have been great if the guide could have offered to take photos, particularly when swimming under the falls.
Overall, a great experience for our first time visiting Litchfield.

“Excellent tour of Lichfield NP”
My husband and I have just returned from a day trip with Ethical Adventures to Litchfield NP. From the very beginning of the tour you get a sense of the passion Rob has for this business. We were given a very informative tour and weren’t rushed at any time, being allowed to just enjoy the different points of interest throughout the day. Which is pretty special given the area was under water two days ago. The breaks are well timed and the food provided is nutritious and delicious. We highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience Australian culture and the environment through the eyes of someone who clearly loves this Territory. Thanks Rob!

“Great day out to Lichfield Park.”
We were picked up from the hotel by Carl our guide. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour as well. Carl took us to some magnificent places within the Litchfield National Park. We were treated to tea/coffee in the morning and some home made muffins. We were shown wildlife and plants, together with an incite into numerous unusual features of the landscape. We enjoyed the tour immensely, as did the rest of our party.

“Fantastic day out”
Had a great tour with Karl, his knowledge and information on the way to our first stop Berry Springs was great, what a way to start the day, swim and then morning tea. Then onto the termite mounds, Florence falls and the rock pools for 2 more swims, lunch was great. Wangi falls was the last stop, what a great place to visit, fantastic view of the falls from the water for another swim and cool down. Would recommend this day tour , well organized.

“Exclusive Immersive Territory Day Tour”
Keen to try something new and different we joined Rob on his small group Top End Taste Safari ( Birds, buggies, brunch, airboat) at Finniss River Lodge/Station. An early hotel pickup and 115km drive southwest from Darwin had us at the luxury lodge where we were warmly greeted by the team with coffee and chef prepared breakfast. We then headed out with our very experienced knowledgeable station guide for 2 hours of wildlife spotting and nature education in the go anywhere ATV. Following this was an exhilarating airboat ride over the wetlands. Time then for a beverage and another chef prepared meal. A swim in the lodge pool rounded off the afternoon. A relaxed, unhurried day, away from the crowds with plenty of time for photography and questions. 100% recommend this day tour. Suitable for anyone interested in seeing another side of Territory.

Review for Kakadu 2 Day Tour Colours of Kakadu
As a small group it allowed us to adjust the pace, like when we were driving past a picturesque billabong, we could stop and have our lunch there.
The lunches were really tasty. The warm muffins before the sunrise Yellow Water cruise were fabulous.
The whole itinerary has been well considered to get the most out of 2 days. We highly recommend this experience. Thank you Adam our guide and the team of Ethical Adventures for our wonderful experience of Kakadu.

“Very memorable day trip”
What a great day. Nice balance of activities, quiet moments taking in scenery, walking, and travel time. Our guide Carl was a top host, taking us to some nice spots in and around Litchfield. Carl was very professional, taking care to keep us happy and well-fed with surprisingly nice food and drinks for a road trip. He was also very knowledgeable about places, plants and animals, and did a great job communicating with us. Had a good group with only 9 people in total. Nice to share the day with them. Highly recommended.

“Another aspect of the Top Ed”
We have had two previous trips with Ethical Adventures - 2 day Kakadu and one day Litchfield. Both were exceptionally well organised, planned and executed. Great staff with knowledge of the areas we travelled to. Each were small groups approx eight people which suited our style.
When we were planning our trip to Darwin earlier in the year, we had no hesitation looking to see what other trips Rob had available. This one day trip - Birds, buggies and airboat, was to Finness River Lodge. A 0600 hrs start got us out there 90 minutes later for a great breakfast cooked by Lockie, the resident chef and guide. Then a trip around part of the 50,000 acre working cattle station exposed us to the local wildlife up close. An airboat ride with Captain Brad was a thrill - more wildlife then lunch. The Lodge's locally made gin, mixed and garnished by Olivia was a perfect refreshment. A fun and informative day for the small group of seven people.

“Top notch experience, Luvly Jubbly”
Maate, My wife and i did 3 trips with Ethical Tours, Lichfield, Katherine and Kakadu all long day trips, all well worth it. We dealt with Tracy the main boss who took our money that we gladly paid, the ham and cheese croissants, the lunch salads, the handmade muffins and the beverages she prepared were brilliant. Rob the under boss and tour guide was very knowledgeable, informative and very accommodating. Adam ( Aka the backbone ) tour guide was the same as Rob with knowledge, info and accommodating all in all we had a brilliant time and a few laughs on all 3 tours which made the rest of our Darwin trip even better. 10 out 10 for everything, many thanks, Tim and Veronica Sunny coast.

We did 2 day tours with Ethical Adventures - Kakadu, Litchfield and Katherine. The staff Rob, Tracey, Carl and Norm are so professional and ready to ensure that your day is both enjoyable and educational. They imparted their knowledge with ease and in a manner that you will remember. Rob went out of his way to ensure that our Top End Holiday was one that we will never forget. I am coeliac and Tracey ensured all my meals were delicious and gluten free. Ethical Adventures customer service is truly second to none. Travelling in a small group makes the tours relaxed, friendly and easy to interact with other travelers and tour guide alike. “Special trip to Kakadu with Ethical Adventures”
My husband and I joined the two-day Colours of Kakadu tour run by Rob last week. It was fabulous! It was certainly a "get what you pay for" experience. Care and attention to detail throughout the two days that were filled with wonderful, memorable experiences. Croissants for breakfast among the waterbirds at Cobb Dam and a surprise stop at the wildlife photography studio on the way to Kakadu signalled it was going to be special! Can thoroughly recommend this tour and this operator.

“Above and beyond my wildest dreams.”
You may have tried the rest, now try the best. Above and beyond my wildest dreams. Two thrilling, action-packed days! that came together like clockwork. Rob, the guide is so friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the people, the culture, the history and the nature. A walking encyclopaedia. It may be a little more expensive than some of the tours, but what this trip has to offer is true value for money and worth every last dollar. Small numbers on the trip make for a very informative, proactive and easy to understand adventure. If you want to see the beauty of Kakadu and learn about the history and the culture, this is the trip for you. The highlight was the Yellow Water cruise and culminating in a flight over the whole area. SIMPLY OUTSTANDING. Thankyou ETHICAL ADVENTURES. 5 Star+.

“100% Outstanding Experience”
I cannot recommend Ethical Adventures highly enough. Five Stars isn’t enough - Ten Stars is better!!
My two friends and I experienced two amazing day trips.
Our Litchfield Gorge tour with Adam was outstanding. Adam is so knowledgeable and passionate about preserving our incomparable flora and fauna.
Our day trip to Kakadu with Rob was another amazing day, with sights and sounds of Kakadu filling our hearts with joy that we’re so very lucky to live in the best country in the world and we need to take care of our environment for generations to come. Rob’s knowledge of Kakadu taught us so much and we have memories that will stay with us forever. Seeing crocodiles up close and hearing aboriginals tell their stories and the opportunity to buy their art was another incredible experience.
The snacks and freshly prepared lunch were healthy, delicious and filling, just what we needed to fuel us throughout the day.
Go for it, book at least one trip with Ethical Adventures, I’m 100% certain you’ll learn a lot and come away with a renewed appreciation of the Northern Territory.

Fantastic day trip to Litchfield Park. Very well organised by the owners, Rob and Tracey, and a delightful host/driver named Carl.

“Fun, active and informative.”
Rob provided one of the most informative commentaries of any tour I have taken globally. The detail was useful, serious when necessary, and humorous at other times. The small bus was clean, safe and comfortable. The sites to which we were taken in Litchfield were beautiful, allowing swimming, short walks, and learning about the history and environmental conditions of the area. A simply fabulous trip!

“Would do again”
Rob was a great guide with a wealth of knowledge. His insights on impacts to the park were thought provking & refreshing from a guide.
The food was excellent.
We would have liked a little more hiking, however as we were the youngest on the tour, it was understandable.
Definitely no duck farts on the bus! Lol (if you know you know)

“A tour with character”
Excellent trip to Litchfield National Park that took in many sites and waterfalls. Small tour group with really informative guide who knew how to avoid the biggest crowds and who kept us going with great food and snacks along the way. Would highly recommend taking this trip with Ethical Adventures!

“Day to remember at Lichfield NP and Berry Springs”
Adam our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and lead our tour at a very relaxed pace which still included all the sightseeing places . Nice small group and a delicious lunch with snacks and morning and afternoon tea. Plenty of time to swim and look around at each stop.

“Best tour operator in Darwin”
Best excursion we took in Darwin as Ethical Adventures go beyond expectations with so many added extras and thoughtful touches.
Karl, our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we felt very safe in his hands.
Would 100 percent recommend.

“Great day out with Ethical Adventures..”
I was nervous about the full day trip to Litchfield NP as my wife is using a walking stick and my father in law is elderly. However my fears were soon put to rest, as Carl made us feel at home on this Australian adventure. He provided a wealth of knowledge about the history, fauna and habitats that make up the Park. Carl was very attentive to our drink and food needs with a nice lunch spread and in between meal breaks that included a very welcome cup of tea and ice towels to cool us down on a particularly hot day. A fantastic day out with some very good memories. Thank you Ethical Adventures for looking after us.

“Excellent day in Litchfield NP with enthusiastic Ethical Adventu”
Fantastic day with Rob of Ethical Adventures. I was after a day trip to experience the beauty of Litchfield NP and was offered two choices - I chose Ethical Adventures as it was small group (max. 10) . The day exceeded my expectations. Rob (owner and our guide ) kept the group entertained with his information and his stories. His passion for people enjoying and connecting with the beauty of nature is evident, and his local knowledge and insight into Litchfield NP, Darwin and the region is a bonus. Rob and his partner create a bespoke experience that I recommend to anyone who wants to experience this beautiful part of the world. Catering for the day was also excellent with a delicious lunch and home baked goodies offered throughout the day. Highly recommended.

“A great company to tour with”
Adam was our guide and is a true asset to Ethical Adventures. Knowledgeable, friendly, accomodating, a true professional. If my mum had made a salad lunch like the one provided I may have eaten it. All up a great experience - highly recommend.

“Fantastic experience”
The Litchfield park day trip was amazing. Carl has excellent knowledge of the area and history. We never felt rushed and were given space to explore. The scenery is spectacular with swimming to the waterfalls a highlight. The tour included all food which was homemade and absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a small tour group that really takes care of you this is rhetorical trip to book.

“Best tour to Litchfield”
What pleasure to spend a day with Rob and Adam, do some really cool things, but also learn about the country, the plants and animals and the ecosystems.
Swimming in the pools and the seeing the waterfalls a highlight.
Really delicious homemade eats throughout the day. Very highly recommended tour.

“Finniss River Lodge buggy and airboat tour.”
Extremely well organised tour to Finniss River Lodge/Station. Adam was bang on time with the pick up and he proved to be very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. When he handed us over to the Finniss River Crew we were again treated like royalty and given an experience that was second to none. At the end of the day Adam again delivered us back to our lodgings. Thoroughly recommended tour company!

It is a long day but amazing!! All inclusive trip with breakfast, lunch, drinks and afternoon tea and a final stop at the Bark Hut Pub. The lunch was simple but hearty and healthy and very delicious.
Our guide Rob was informative, funny, and explained the Kakadu NP area and rock art history with lots of breaks to enjoy the scenery and take it all in.
Small group of six which is nice as we didn’t feel rushed like bigger tours.
We also had Robbie a local indigenous guide who explained his way of life passed on by his ancestors while cruising the river and to see the crocodiles up close in their natural habitat.
Overall it was an amazing tour, a new perspective of life in the Territory and the scenery was breathtaking.
Thank you

“Amazing Day at Kakadu”
I had a great day exploring Kakadu. Rob was an amazing and knowledgeable guide. The lunch and snacks provided were both healthy and delicious. I loved the small and relaxed tour group size and Rob was a natural at making everyone feel welcome and at ease. The highlights included vising amazing Aboriginal rock paintings and meeting local indigenous artists and guides. The boat trip to see crocodiles up close won't disappoint. I would recommend this must do tour to everyone visiting Darwin/Kakadu.
