Itinerary
See MapDay 1 – Noosa to K’gari (Fraser Island)
Depart early from Noosa (pick-up from 5:20am) and travel north to Rainbow Beach. Board the barge to K’gari and look out for dolphins and dugongs during the short crossing. Once on the island, drive along 75 Mile Beach before heading inland via Eurong Beach Resort to Pile Valley. Take a short walk among towering satinay trees and learn about the island’s flora and fauna. Continue to Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie), where you’ll swim, relax, and enjoy lunch beside the lake’s pure white sand. Later, head to your exclusive bell tent camp for a sunset platter, BBQ dinner, and optional K’gari Star Show if skies are clear.

Day 2 – Lake Birrabeen, Central Station, Maheno Shipwreck & Eli Creek
Wake early for sunrise over the Pacific Ocean and breakfast at camp. Drive north along 75 Mile Beach to Eli Creek, where you can float in the cool freshwater. Visit the SS Maheno Shipwreck and hear its fascinating story before continuing south to explore Lake Birrabeen, a peaceful hidden gem. After lunch, follow the Southern Lakes circuit and return to Rainbow Beach, then back to Noosa by early evening.
Note: Lake Birrabeen is tide and time permitted - please be advised that the itinerary that can change depending on tides and time.

What should I pack?
Depending on where in Australia or New Zealand you decide to visit, your luggage will vary. For exact information please visit the "What to bring" section of each tour page.
What immunisations do I need?
For the latest information on immunisations, we strongly recommend you or contact the Travellers Medical and Vaccination Centre (www.traveldoctor.com.au) to discuss health requirements for your trip. They will advise you about appropriate inoculations.
Do I need to take any medical supplies?
It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.
How much luggage can I take?
We don't have an exact policy when it comes to luggage though we just ask our customers to be mindful that we have limited space. Generally we recommend people to bring a large backpack/suitcase with all their gear and another smaller backpack to keep on the bus for daily items ( phone, water bottle, towel, sunscreen etc ) and to take on walks. If you have a lot of luggage it's best to leave the things you don't need at your hotel/hostel where they will store it for free until your return. If you are unsure, please contact us.
Where can I store my luggage whilst on tour?
During the tour your main luggage will be stored in our trailer. This trailer is always locked however we cannot guarantee the complete safety of your gear from theft or damage. This is why it is so important to purchase a good travel insurance. If you need to store your luggage whilst away on tour, this can be done through your accommodation. Most hostel and hotels will store your luggage safely free of charge.
Will I be able to do any laundry whilst on tour?
For camping tours there will be no time to do laundry. However, for longer cross country tours involving hostel or hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to wash your clothes.
Do I need a sleeping bag?
For all camping tours require you to have a sleeping bag. If you don't have one they may be available for hire via the "join tour" button.
How fit do I need to be?
Our tours are made to be fun, informative and active and can be enjoyed by anyone with a moderate degree of fitness and agility. Travellers should be comfortable with hiking/walking up to 5km each day.
Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Can I get online whilst travelling?
For tours incorporating hostel/hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to use wireless internet or use of nearby internet cafe. If you have a mobile plan with internet then that should be ok except for more remote regions. This will vary from tour to tour so please contact us directly for more accurate information.
Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?
You can use your mobile while touring in Australia or New Zealand, but coverage may be limited in remote areas. For best connectivity, consider purchasing a local SIM card or an international roaming plan.

Booking the trip
Do I have to book this tour online?
Definitely not. Our website is designed to make is easy and convenient for you to schedule your tour. However we understand sometimes its nice to talk to someone directly. So by all means give us a call and we can organise your trip over the phone.
If I book more than one tour can I get a discount?
Absolutely! If you are booking multiple tours then we may be able to offer you a discount. Send us an email at info@lostinaustralia.org and let us know what you thinking of doing and we can put together a price for you.Also, be sure to look out for monthly specials on tours. We often have some great bargains.
How do I know when a tour is available?
You can check the departure dates of tours by using our calendar on the top right hand corner of the tour page. This will tell you what days the tour departs. For availability of seats please contact us directly at info@lostinaustralia.org or call us.
Can I just do a section of this tour and not the whole trip?
Unfortunately it is not possible to only do a part of the tour. Passengers generally need to stay with the tour from start to finish.However, drop off locations at the end of the tour made me negotiated.
Does the tour price include flights?
No. Tour prices do not include any travel arrangements other than for the duration of the tour itself. If you need assistance with booking flights or buses our travel team and certainly help - Just ask!
How far in advance do I need to book my tour?
As a rule of thumb, try to book at least 2 weeks prior to departure, this will usually get you a seat on the date you want. That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible. Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. If you know when you'd like to travel, please contact us and we will let you know if you need to book soon or if you have time.
If I make a deposit only, when will I need to pay the balance?
Balance on tours need to be paid at least 30 days prior to departure. Failure to do so could result is the cancellation of your seat with a fee charged. If you need more time to clear your balance then let us know ASAP and arrangements can be made.
Who travels with us
Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
What does Paid Locally mean?
Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.
Whilst on tour
What will the food be like?
Our emphasis is on fresh food wherever possible and our meals are nutritious and varied on these tours. If you are vegetarian or gluten intolerant we can cater for you, but if you have very specific dietary needs you may need to provide your own food, please discuss this at time of booking. For breakfast we supply cereals, fruits, toast, tea and coffee. Lunch is usually a self-serve picnic sandwich and salads; in the evening we have a cooked dinner - This can vary between pastas, bbqs, rices and other hearty food to keep you energized! We always carry water in the vehicle and you will often have the chance to buy your own drinks, ice-creams etc at stops. Please refer to each individual tour/package to establish which meals are included.
Can you cater of special diets?
We can certain cater for most dietary needs. Please advise us at the time of your booking so arrangements can be made. For travellers with more extreme diets we may ask that you bring along additional snacks.
Can I book extra accommodation for the start and end of the tour?
We know our country inside and out and would be happy to give you good recommodations. Please contact us for recommendations.

and very professional. He takes us to some beatiful sight-seeings. He gives us lots of laught. We all love him.
However, if we can get WiFi in the room and can know in advance, the schedule details of the trip, it would be much better.

We had the best two days on K’Gari and I’m so happy we got to visit all the major sites on the island.
The tour was great, so nice having space on the bus - and great to stay in the hotel. Jean was friendly, knowledgeable and a great guide. We went when there was a blood moon and got to see the Milky Way which was insane!

Had a lovely trip! Everything went smooth, from the pick-up at the hotel to the tour itself. We had Dave D as our tour guide, and he was absolutely phenomenal—very experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate about K’gari. He shared so many interesting stories and facts throughout the day, making the whole experience both fun and educational.
A special mention also goes to Jeff, our bus driver back to the hotel, who was truly amazing. He was so friendly and kind, and went above and beyond to get us to where we needed to be, even tho this was not planned on beforehand. His positive attitude added so much to the overall experience.
The days was perfectly organized, with breathtaking stops and plenty of time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting K’gari—such a memorable and well-run experience!

Even though we are locals to the area we found the tour to be well worth it. We got to see most of the iconic locations and learnt so much more about the islands ecosystem and history. Dean was an amazing guide. He was very friendly and kept everyone engaged and entertained while manoeuvring the large 4wd bus through some pretty tricky terrain. He even had some pretty funny dad jokes I must admit.
Kingfisher Bay Resort was very nice, the buffet breakfast was outstanding and the rooms were pleasant. The K'gari beach resort at Eurong is less fancy but everything you need. You don't spend too much time there anyway.
Overall, I think it is well worth the price you pay when you consider everything that is included and I would highly recommend this tour to anybody that is thinking about visiting the island.

We were fortunate enough to have been on a tour with only 5 people, including 3 being our family so it made the experiences so much more enjoyable and less rushed/noisy. The price was well reflected foe the quality of places we visited, our accommodation, food and how well Dean, our tour guide looked after us. We stayed at each destination a good amount of time, again we stopped frequently to look at cool stuff out the window so that was good. Our first bus driver Pete picked us up from the Shell servonat Rainbow Beach to take us to our first stop at Lake McKenzie, he was super nice and knowledgeable. The bus was packed and barge rude was choppy but that's was OK. Once we swam at Lake Mackenzie we met our new tour guide Dean who we spent the remainder of our 2 day time with. He was also super knowledgeable and made us feel safe and looked after during our time with him. The destinations defiently lived up to their names on the island, simply paradise

This trip was absolutely worth it! Our tour guide Taylah did a fantastic job, both driving us around safely and comfortably, and giving us insights into the history and nature of this breathtaking island.
We'd definitely recommend the two-day tour, as it gives you enough time for each activity.
The Kingfisher Bay Resort offers a great variety of activities (tennis, pool, spa) and good food, too (we particularly liked the breakfast). Its sister hotel on the other side, K'gari Beach Resort, is a bit older, but offers spacious rooms (no a/c!) and also surprisingly good food.

Did the 2 - Day, 1 - Night Experience with my Wife out of Hervey Bay. What an awesome way to experience a bucket list Destination. The Compay was flawless from pick-up at our Caravan Park accomodation to Drop-Off. The highlights of swimming in pure fresh water lakes, Exploring a shipwreck, Driving the 75mile Beach Highway and seeing trees 1000 Years old was just breath taking. Brilliant 2 days out. Definitely visit this pristine heritage listed island!
Beautiful subtropical rainforest, drive 30 km along the famous beach, swim in crystal clear lakes and, yes you will see wild dingos,and be a little bit afraid and cautious of them too.
The bus looks like a regular bus, but powerful 4wd to get along the sandy tracks with towering trees and lush ferns and onto the wide beach with the crashing surf of the Pacific. Dave, our driver and guide is straight out of central casting! Aussie, friendly, capable, funny and always concerned with safety and service and excellent coordination and timing for 2 action packed days. Homemade muffins and Anzac biscuits for morning tea, and excellent buffet lunch at the resort the first day.
Dinner is not included but not expensive. Excellent pub style food with very generous portions for tired trekkers. I can recommend the Barramundi fish and chips and salad.
The motel is essentially unchanged since 1975, which for Xers was a throwback to family summer holidays, but exactly right for this sort of trip, and for the Millenials, it is clean simplicity that they favour too. Clean, with comfortable beds to collapse into.
The second day was another pristine walk. 2.5km in on sandtracks through light forest and then a refreshing swim in a hidden lake, but with a dastardly sand hill to climb out.
To and from the island is by ferry/car barge which added to the adventure. We were all dropped off to our hotels by the very kind and personable Warren who went the extra mile for lost backpackers and some very tired and bewildered overseas visitors.
Definitely do the 2 day overnight trip. It really is a visit to remember.

Had such a wonderful experience! I spent a while researching tour options and was very happy with where I landed.
We were fortunate to be a small group and our guide David really brought us together in a natural way, especially looking out for the solo travelers.
David was very experienced and gave us lots of facts (without being overwhelming) as well as bringing plenty of good humour - we had a lot of laughs.

We did the 2 day bus 4x4 tour and it was fantastic, Blaire is an exceptional tour guide and hosted a very enjoyable trip. This included a combination of fun, sharing his knowledge of the facts of the country and local wildlife, while being relaxed and structured made this the perfect two days for my father-in-law visiting from Canada. McKenzie creek is brilliant, swimming in the Champaign pools, visiting the headland and Eli Creek, not to mention pinnacles and shipwreck while seeing local Dingos was exceptional!!! Only thing we didn't realise at the time of booking was a 2.5km walk each way was included, people with mobility issues may need to know this in advance. Otherwise, food was great at the K'gari beach resort and local coffee was strong. Memorable two days in one of the most beautiful locations on our planet. Highly recommend and hope you get Blaire as your tour guide!! P.s Blaire is a great human and personally, I think his boss should pay him more (and no, Blaire didn't ask me to include this, I promise!)

Pickup was prompt, and I especially enjoyed the first day of the tour where we visited two beautiful lakes, did a rainforest walk, saw dingos up close, and had plenty of fun with the woopty doos.
I was initially disappointed as I thought I had booked a self-drive 4x4 tour. Our pass said “quad share,” so I assumed we would be driving ourselves. Although that wasn’t the case, I still enjoyed the overall experience.
Dave D was fantastic he made us feel safe, was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and its First Nations history, and kept the day engaging with great conversation and made tones of effort. He has a great laugh!
The food provided was lovely, and I enjoyed the morning tea, which kept us at bay until lunch.
The shared accommodation was comfortable, and it was nice coming back to a warm shower at the end of the day.
The only downside for me was the group dynamic. The people on our tour weren’t very engaging, and as younger women we felt the group skewed a bit more mature, which may suit travellers who prefer a quieter experience with less socialising.
Overall, I still appreciated the trip and the chance to experience K’gari.

The food was exceptional, the sites we visited were stunning and well worth the money for the accommodation but the highlight of our trip was Dave! You could really tell how much he loved his job and K’Gari island.

My sister and I booked a two day tour and it was absolutely worth it. Our Guide and Driver Dave gave a lot of information about K'gari and responded to every single question we had. We felt really save while he navigated the bus through the narrow paths.
We got to see a lot of Dingos, Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, the Maheno Shipwrack and a lot of other great places. Would absolutely recommend!
Also the resort we stayed in was really lovely.

A truly unforgettable experience. Spending two days exploring the island and learning about the heritage and what makes it such a special place was amazing from start to finish.
Our tour guide Keith was brilliant – funny, knowledgable and really cares about the heritage of the island. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and way to explore. Added bonus was seeing the sunrise (something I was grateful to jet lag for), whales and dingos.
I’d highly recommend this, and also the added on scenic flight to see the k’gari from above. I’d do it all over again.

I don’t know how to describe my experience it was so amazing ! Our 2 days guide, John, was so great and patient, he took the time to respond at all of my questions, and I had a lot he is a really passionate guide and you can feel it when he tell the story of all the places that we saw. So thank you John ! And also thank you to Keith, another guide who took us back to rainbow beach, we had an amazing moment watching a dingo mom and her two babies howling. Thanks a lot for this !
The accommodation was really good and I had enough time to enjoy all the places that we visited.
I’ll stop now because I have so much good memories and it will be too long to describe this
But if you are not sure to do it, do it, it’ll be worth it 100% !

We had an amazing time on K'gari with our guide Blair! Sufficient time at well selected and beautiful stops and lots of information about the island on the side.
We were lucky wildlife and weather wise but i feel like everyone would get a great experience here nomatter the circumstances.

We were picked up by John in Rainbow beach. This was a very nice start to our two-day trip to K’gari. At Lake McKenzie we switched to the 2 Day tour bus. So for the rest of our trip we had another tour guide, Jean. Both Tour guides had a lot to say and brought this in a nice enthusiastic way. We got plenty of time to swim and take pictures everywhere because we had 2 days on the island. Also seen dolphins, turtles and dingoes.
Overnight stay at the resort was well arranged.
In short, highly recommended to do! And definitely choose 2 day tour, there is plenty to see!

The tour guide - Mark (Sarge) - was a credit to the organisation. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was the consummate professional - he had all the facts/history/cultural background and had a delightful delivery. He had a great sense of humour and again was a great representative for the organisation. He drove that bus with a great deal of skill as well.
I would highly recommend both the tour guide Mark and the organisation re the x 2 adventure of Fraser Island. 10/10

Had the most amazing trip to K'gari Island.
Saw all the major amazing stops - Lake mackenzie, Champagne pools, SS Maheno Eli creek, Dingos, Sea plane ($120 extra), Hike to Lake Wabby etc
Overnight stay at the K'gari beach resort - which was comfortable, but rooms a little dated now.
Tour guide - Keith absolutely made the trip!
His enthusiasm and knowledge for the island is incredible and very infectious!

We booked this trip as we heard amazing things about the island but weren’t keen to camp & we are so glad we did! Everything was fantastic, from the food to the accommodation, and our tour guide Dave D was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the island, and made sure we enjoyed our time at each spot. Lots of opportunities to swim with nice walks. We even got to see a family of Dingos. Would definitely recommend (from three girls in their 20’s)!!

Great tour seeing lots around K’gari from the amazing huge Satinay trees and rainforest to amazing inland lakes, creeks, wildlife. Our very knowledgeable guide Keith kept us entertained and showed us so much. Plenty of time to enjoy your surrounds, have a swim, spot a whale! Accomodation and meals fantastic and we were kept at a steady but comfortable pace. Well worth doing if considering a trip to K’gari.

There's a good reason K'gari Explorer Tours has close to a five star rating. The tour guides. They have a relaxed, welcoming demeanour, that immediately makes you feel welcome.
We've been twice now, and seeing the Island by tour bus is the superior way to get around. Our guide takes all the stress out of managing this on our own, leaving us to simply enjoy being there.
We highly recommend touring K'gari as opposed to the stress of managing fuel, food, tides, tracks and destinations. We can't recommend K'gari Explorer Tours enough.

A fantastic organized tour. You will see all the highlights of the island with different swimming stops. We had a very nice guide Dave, also our skilled driver. He made these days extra special because of his beautiful stories about the island. He seemed to know all about the plants and animals and talked passionately about this. We were also well taken care of along the way with coffee and tea moments with delicious muffins and cookies as well as a nice picnic on day two. Good account was taken of any dietary requirements. We had 2 wonderful days in which we were unburdened and enjoyed it very much.

Jean was hands down the best tour guide. He was super informative and educational while adding humor to the tour. We were super fortunate to see a bunch of dingoes - even saw some howling. The whole trip was amazing as it was much easier to have a guide navigate us around the island and plan our activities based on the tide changes and the weather. We would not hesitate to do this again. Only complaint was the lack of AC in the overnight accommodations and the terrible food at the buffet but it was tolerable.

A fabulous way to see a lot of the main sights without the stress! Be aware that you go between swimming and walking activities with limited change rooms, so factor that into your outfit. Very informative tour guide and great learning opportunities. We did arrive the 30 mins before the time that was stated, but didn’t leave until 20 mins after allotted time, which meant nearly an hour of standing around at 7:30am. Bring snacks and a water bottle, as there’s only one food stop and it’s a long and busy day.

Mark was an excellent guide who kept up a steady flow of information and humour. Knowledgeable about both the wild life, ecology and history of K’Gari. He has a very approachable and worked hard to wield the 13 of us into a cohesive group that proved the experience for everyone.
The evening meal with all of us together was a highlight.
The pace of seeing the highlights of K’Gari over two days was just right and enabled us to savour the experience. K’Gari was amazing and coming across four dingoes on the beach on the final day was the icing on the cake of a memorable two days.

What a couple of days! Mark, our guide (and briefly Keith as he collected me from Rainbow Beach) was so knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and passionate during an incredible tour. I learned so much about K’Gari, the First Nations people who originally inhabited the land, and the wildlife on the island. Two days was perfect, in serious comfort and always getting time in each location to really relax and absorb without worrying about being back at the buS.

Our fantastic guide Jean picked us up at the ferry and from there we proceeded to start a lovely tour of the island including a dip in Lake MacKenzie, a drive in a 4-wheel bus down the mostly deserted, gorgeous east coast beach. Morning tea and lunch were included. Jean covered all the safety issues including warnings about dingoes. Jean was very informative, lots of fun and very patient and kind. The tour continued the next morning with a great hike up to a gorgeous lake (forgot the name) and a visit to the stunning “Champagne Pools.” This day included lots of other great little visits, lunch and great commentary with a ride back later in the day to catch the ferry back to Hervey Bay. Thank you Jean for a great couple days (he’s also a great driver on the sand!) and K’Gari Resort.

We made the tour with our 2 yr old son and loved it. The timings and cadence of the tour was perfect for us as there was enough time to enjoy the beautiful places: we had about 1,5hrs for each of the lakes, pools, creeks etc.
Mark was a great knowledgeable tour guide. Great stories and to-the-point, not rambling on for two days and allowinging some time to enjoy the ride in silence or whilst listening to his epic 80’s rock playlist .For this tour it helps if you enjoy being in the water, although my wife also enjoyed it whilst she’s not the biggest fan of swimming.

The trip was a really worthwhile inclusion in our time is Australia. We had two days with our tour guide and driver, Hayden. He was so knowledgable, very friendly and made people feel included. We were fortunate to have just 12 people on our tour which was a lovely number to be able to get to know our fellow travellers a little. The time in the bus was informative but t also great fun. Very bumpy for a lot of the time but also the drive along 75 mile beach was relaxing. Opportunities for swims and walking. We loved every minute of our tour which- made even more exciting when we had to arm ourselves with Dingo sticks to warn off two approaching dingos.
We booked the two nights as part of the trip which was definitely worthwhile for us as it meant there was time to relax at Kingfisher bay resort the night before the two day tour.

We had an absolutely incredible two-day tour of K’gari (Fraser Island) with Dave as our guide! From start to finish, he made the experience unforgettable with his deep knowledge he shared his passion for the island’s history, wildlife, and unique landscapes.
The itinerary was perfectly paced, allowing us to experience all the highlights—swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Lake McKenzie, floating down Eli Creek, driving along the iconic 75 Mile Beach, and exploring the stunning rainforest at Central Station.
For us it was the right call to having someone to take care of the location and ride timings as well as food (including gluten free) kept our holiday low stress,
Dave’s storytelling brought the island to life, and his off-road driving skills made the journey smooth and exciting!
His enthusiasm was contagious, and it was clear he genuinely loves what he does.

Jean (our driver ) on K’gari (Fraser island ) Explorer 2 day tour was nothing short of amazing. He is so knowledgeable on all things K’gari including the history, plants etc but more importantly his driving was fabulous. It would not be easy to drive on the sand and bush tracks there. I am a terribly nervous passenger and I felt comfortable the whole time. Our group just loved him - :)
The 2 day tour for us was combined with a night pre and post at Kingfisher making it a 3 night tour. The whole thing was fabulous. We saw all the highlights and I felt it represented excellent value for money. We loved Kingfisher resort.
The highlights for me were Lake McKenzie, the walk to Wabby Lake, Eli Creek and champagne pools but it was all totally amazing.

My wife and I had the best time on this 2 day tour. You get to go to an array of sights over the two days and Lake Mckenzie had to be our highlight. The tour was expertly organised and you could sense the experience in the way it was run and the order in which we visited the sights depending on the tides etc. Jean our driver and tour guide is a lovely guy and we really enjoyed the 2 days getting to know him and hearing his wealth of knowledge of the island. The drinks and sandwiches provided were great and they were even able to provide for our dietary requirements. The hotel room was basic but the restaurant and food was great and we had everything we needed. An excellent 2 days and the most memorable part of our few weeks in Australia.

We did the 2 day trip and it was worth it just to get the extra time at Lake Mckenzie! Our tour guide Andy was the G.O.A.T!!! You could tell how passionate he was about his job, answered all our questions and was super chill, friendly and knowledgeable about K’gari.
We got lucky with the weather on our first day so Lake Mckenzie was GORGEOUS, the central station rainforest walk was lovely, as was the afternoon at the champagne pools. The buffet lunch was great with lots of options, dinner wasn’t included but the restaurant at the hotel was fab!
We didn’t have good weather for day 2, but that didn’t stop the fun. The buffet breaky at the hotel was amazing. We had a nice hike to Lake Wabby, followed by tubing at Eli Creek and a visit to the shipwreck. It was a lovely bonding experience for our group and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lots of reviews saying you spend too much time on the bus, but it’s the only way to get to see these unique places so stop whining and take in the beautiful ocean views!

The trip in the island is perfectly organised, with the right distribution of time among the different activities. Also the right mix between adventure and confort, adventure and time to relax “in the water”. The island is wonderful, a continuous discovery of unexpected paths, lakes, rivers, pools, desert. The guide was duper professional and totally involved us, with his passion, in the knowledge of K’gari wildlife.

The 2 day tour with our guide David D was the best. Dave was a true professional and couldn’t have been more considerate and respectful of all guests on board. He clearly showed his skills as a professional truck driver and his knowledge of K’gari was second to none. Dave gave a full two days commentary of the island, its history and its natural beauty.
We had so much time to spend and explore at each of our stops around the island.
We extended our tour with one night before and after at Kingfisher Bay resort. Best decision. No rushing getting to and from Ferries and having to rush back to the highway. The resort is in great condition and set back into nature surrounded by forest.
Just a short walk down to the Jetty to enjoy the most beautiful sunset over the harbour.
Overall couldn’t recommend a better tour guide or company to take you around the island.

Great Tour with a big offroad bus. Keith was the Tour guide and provided a lot of interesting information to the Island and the places we went to. He had a good vibe and it felt safe driving with him. For a one day tour you could see a lot of cool places and also you had enough time. I could go for a swim at Lake mckenzie and take a lot of pics.

The tour guard, Grant could not have been better. Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
Food was wonderful, accomadation was spacious, well equipped and clean. Lots to see and do. Swimming in lakes, greeks and the sea. The forest is truly beautiful. It's a very magical place and great value for money. Highly recommend

Dave D was the tour guide. He did a very good job. He explained a lot to us with personal knowledge, but also it was from his heart. He’s very enthusiastic about explaining everything. Fraser Island obviously means a lot to him and it’s not just a job. He cares about this land. We felt safe with him and you could tell he made an effort to know the members of his group and their capabilities. Completed this trip to k’gari with my partner in late sept 2024. It was my second time to the island. The first was on a self driving tour but this tour completely trumped it.
We picked this trip because we were not looking to self drive, wanted a tour guide, wanted more of a hotel experience and want a reasonable price. Sneak peak, we got it all!
This tour provided us access to all of the main lakes, sites, creeks, wildlife, views etc of the island but what stood out to be the biggest difference was our tour guide Keith. He mentioned he was new to the particular tour as he normally goes from Rainbow beach but this time did the tour with us from Hervey Bay.
If you opt for this tour I would highly recommend asking for Keith as he remained super engaging and enthusiastic throughout the trip, shared a wealth of local knowledge and was always willing to help/answer questions. A notable touch of class was how he bought everyone together. On a 2 day tour like this most people are awkward with everyone else and you keep yourself to yourself, however Keith made it his goal to bring everyone together for the evening meal where we all engaged with each other making the 2nd day even more enjoyable with new friends!
This trip included fantastic accommodation which was incredibly clean (given the amount of sand which is collected, was is impossible to avoid!).
The bus shown in most of the reviews was brilliantly reliable and comfortable given the conditions of the road… routes lol.
All in all a 5* experience which I can only hope inspires to bite the bullet and click buy! You won’t regret it!

Got a taste of everything (Lake Mackenzie, Lake Wabby, Central Station, King ferns, 1000 year old Sattinay tree, dingos, whales, eagles, fish, Champagne pools, Eli Creek, Pinnacles, 75 mile Beach, Aboriginal middens, as well as some 'island time'). Felt very looked after by tour guides Keith and Jean. Both friendly, respectable, good natured, reliable and ready to answer questions and willingly share their knowledge of Kgari along the way. A really enjoyable two day experience of Paradise.

We had the best time on our two day tour! David was amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great experience. We saw some seriously beautiful scenery, both walking and from the tour bus! We were even lucky enough to see dingos twice. The absolute standout for us was Champagne Falls rock pool and the epic journey to get us there! Pure determination on David's part! Our tour highlights were driving along the water's edge to the sound of some Aussie Rock classics, listening to Keith's passionate commentary on everything we were about to see, and swimming in crystal clear Lake Mackenzie, Eli Creek and Champagne Pools. K'gari is incredible and Keith made sure we made memories that will last a lifetime. Several attempts were needed to get us up the sand hill leading to Indian Head and Champagne Pools, but Keith was determined to get us there. His success was met with cheers from our small tour group. Keith also towed out a bogged 4 wheel drive. Thanks for an awesome, fun and informative tour.

Just came back from K’gari doing the 2-day-tour… It was absolutely mind-blowing, and mostly thanks to our incredible guide Dave D. Dave is so knowledgeable about the wildlife, the vegetation and the History of the island! I appreciated his generosity, as well as the respect he has towards nature and animals. He is passionate and was in awe with everything we’ve seen just like us, like he’s discovering everything all over again. It made everything special!
We were also lucky enough to be a some spots first, which was even more pleasant, and K’gari Beach Resort was perfect, from the meals we had there to the room for the overnight stay.
I will recommend it to everyone I know, and I would be more than happy to do it again by bringing my partner next time!

Exceptional trip! We got to experience both Keith and Kurt who were wonderful hosts on K'Gari. Enthusiastically sharing their knowledge and stories of the island with total respect for the butchalla people. The tour exceeded expectations. Dingos galore and whales in abundance - a magnificent show from nature they could not have planned for.
Swim stops at Lake Mackenzie, Wabbi, Eli Creek and champagne pools (we found our own there). Food was super from morning tea, lunch and a really good evening meal. Rooms were clean and functional - only used them for a sleep. 75 mile beach never fails to disappoint.
Thanks for a brilliant adventure, memories for a lifetime and so glad we made it.

Amazing tour of K’gari. Shout out to Kurt who was an awesome guide over the two days. He was knowledgable, enthuasiatic and brought awesome energy to the trip. We were blown away with K’gari and the two day trip was perfect for my fiance and I as we are touring the east coast of Australia. The first day was great even with some rain which we were unlucky to have but Kurt kept enthusiasm high and we all had a great time with lake Mackenzie, central junction etc. Day two was epic with fantastic weather. Champagne pools, west side of the island and the famous ship wreck SS Maheno were amazing spots plus many more. Highly recommend this trip.

Enjoyed every moment of this tour. It was well paced with plenty of time to enjoy all the attractions. Our guide David was fun, friendly and informative. There were a variety of different activities, bush walks, swimming in both salt and fresh water, walking massive sand dunes and generally taking in all that nature has to offer.
Everything ran very smoothly, we were kept informed of all the activities we would be undertaking and how long we would have at each destination. Every staff member we encountered was courteous and helpful.
The optional flight from the beach, which we weren’t originally going to do, turned out to be a highlight and I would thoroughly recommend.
I would say the only thing that was somewhat of a let down was some of the food. I was really looking forward to the picnic on the second day but it turned out to be a pre made salad roll and juice, a bit lacking in imagination.

Would recommend this unreservedly! Every aspect of the trip ran smoothly from booking to set down at the Marina at the end of the trip. Driving along the spectacular 75 mile beach was unforgettable and the tour took in all the sites. We spent the right amount of time at each place to really explore and enjoy it. Our guide and driver Blair was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. He thoughtfully suggested return trip to Eli creek on the second day when it was sunnier and people could really enjoy floating down. The tour organisation was excellent; pickup, ferry, 4WD bus on K'gari, meals, stops, information, swims, the drives ... all wonderful. There are a lot of elements that go to make this tour, and most worked really well. Maybe make it clearer that the walk into Lake Wabby is not just 5km round trip, taking about 35 minutes each way, but that it's a sometimes steep walk - testing the fitness of most older people at least. There's no doubt that the island is unique and amazing.

WE Had a great time in K'Gari. Although the weather wasn't the best in Day 1 our Guide Guy hast made the best Out of it. We have seen all the famous sights Like Lake McKenzie, Champagne Pools, Eli Creek , Lake Wabby, etc... The acomodation and food was very good as well. Espacially the Guide Guy was very entertaining with his stories and he has a broad knowledge of the Islands Flora and Fauna and History.
We would suggest to gather the group together for Dinner for more time to share experiences.
But in total we had two very special, funny, interesting days.

Whilst the island was truly beautiful, the trip was really made special by Keith, our knowledgable guide and 4WD bus extraordinaire . The whole tour is as amazing! We had Guy as our tour guide and he was very informative and friendly, making the tour really enjoyable. We got to see all the main attractions including Lake Wabby, Lake Mackenzie. Central Station, Maheno Shipwreck, Champagne Pools and Eli Creek. The resort was also great, just what we needed after a long day exploring. Would highly recommend.

A great two days on K’gari/Fraser Island. Beautiful scenery. Lovely places to swim & enjoy the water. Lake Mackenzie was so blue and Lake Wabby so green! The 75 mile beach on the East coast stretched on for miles! We saw whales, sharks and dingoes. We enjoyed the bubbly Champagne Pools (no champagne) and the ‘lazy river’ at Eli Creek. Excellent overnight accommodation at Eurong. Warren was a very knowledgeable guide & excellent sand dune driver!

Strongly recommend the 2-day trip. Saw and experienced everything at a relaxed pace. Swimming at several beautiful spots and a lovely 2.5 bush walk. Best part - we were never rushed. Guy (our Tour Guide) was fantastic - chatty, knowledgeable and great fun. Overnight accommodation was basic holiday unit, but clean and well presented. Best part is thundering along the bush tracks and along the beach and not having to worry about the driving. Thanks again Guy - you are five stars!

The tour was wonderful! We are not swimmers but we could perfectly enjoy ourselves when the group was going for a swim. Guy had so much to tell and we learned so much and we had a blast. The island is beautiful too. I just didn't care for the Eurong hotel too much, it's quite obvious you have nowhere else to go and they know it. But the tour was just amazing

We learned a lot about history, flora and wildlife of the island. Mark with his charm and sense of humor formed out of the multinational group a team of adventurers :-)

We felt safe with Mark. We did the optional flight leaving from the beach. A great 15min experience. It was well worth
doing the 2 days as we saw more, it was not rushed and was a good group dynamic. Having someone else drive was welcome- we saw some tow trucks with 4WD on the back!

tyres to float down the creek on - we loved this. We were provided with a tea and snack stop during the first day. Cakes and cookies were all fresh and looked homemade. Two of us are gluten free, delicious GF caramel slices were provided.
In the evening the hotel was perfect, rooms were spacious, clean and had excellent bathrooms. Included in the price was a buffet evening meal and buffet breakfast. Both had good and plentiful choices. Food was labelled if GF but staff were happy to help too. At breakfast a separate toaster was available and plenty of GF bread.
A packed lunch was provided on the second day as well as another tea stop.
We were lucky to see dingoes, whales, rays and a turtle. Steve was a wealth of knowledge about all wildlife and plant life.
Would thoroughly recommend this trip.

We just returned last night and we are still glowing! Mark was the perfect guide. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and you could tell he genuinely loves what he does. We saw so many whales, dingos, birds… McKenzie Lake was truly breath taking. We would certainly recommend this tour.

We arrived K’Gari during our honeymoon trip in Australia, the nature on the island is absolutely breathtaking, on top of that we got Mark as our instructor and he made the experience even better he was extremely nice and super informative and answered every question we had and add even some more info so we’ll be fully covered!
We had some guided tours during our trip but we haven’t met an instructor like Mark!
We’re highly recommending the trip and if you could get Mark as your instructor it’ll make the experience way better

gosh where do i begin? firstly Fraser Island/K'gari is a must-do if you're on the east coast, the natural beauty is phenomenal, we saw dingos and whales as well as all the sites. Secondly, David our tour guide was a gem, we had a bus breakdown and he was so calm about it and got us back on track asap. I was super nervous as this is my first time travelling solo but highly recommend if you're looking for a more relaxed experience with an expert driver !! + staying in the resort was absolute luxury after being in hostels

Mark was a fantastic guide. Very quick with a laugh, you can tell he enjoys his job and showing travellers around. Action packed itinerary - lakes, rainforest, crystal clear creeks, ocean pools, sand dunes. We took the optional plane ride and saw sharks and whales and landed on the beach near the shipwreck. We went on a guided tour with Hayden, and it was awesome. Hayden was a very friendly, humorous and knowledgeable guide for Fraser Island. The Island is definitely worth visiting but be warmed there will be some challenging hiking routes so when bringing young children, be prepared to suffer and carry them when they get tired.

The highlight for me was Lake Mackenzie

Excellent experience visiting Fraser Island with K’gari explorer tours. Our tour guides, Keith and Wayne, were both so friendly & fun and had exceptional knowledge about the island which they shared with us throughout the tour. We felt very well looked after and entertained throughout the tour which included seeing Dingos, rainforests, swimming at Lake Mackenzie, Eli Creek and Champagne pools. We would highly recommend a trip to Fraser Island on Keith or Wayne’s bus to anybody looking for a fun, eventful and incredibly memorable trip to K’gari!

We had waited 18 months, rescheduling after covid but it was well worth the wait. Kids loved the 4WD bus experience and K'gari really is Paradise. Having tried to self-explore some years prior I highly recommend doing the guided tour to see everything on offer.

'Epic' 2 days doing the K'gari Explorer tour. Warren 'Wozzer' was a fabulous tour guide, we saw so much of the island, all carefully calculated to ensure we reached every stop at the right moment taking account of the tides, sun, and other visitors. Impossible to choose a highlight there were so many, but we really enjoyed Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, The Champagne pools, the walk to Lake Wabby, and of course the Dingo sightings. Driving through the island and down 75 mile beach was great fun, Warren really made the trip with his huge knowledge of the island and great sense of humour and adventure.

Mark, our driver gave us a safe and adventurous tour. He is very knowledgable and shares his experience, with a pinch of humour. Glad he kept us clear of any drop bears. Getting through the sand on a bus is incredible in itself and added to the views, fauna and jaw dropping places just adds to the fantastic experience. Lake Mc Kenzie or the Champagne pools are some of the highlights. The stay at the l’haricot resort was lovely and comfortable. It is a nice way to link up with the group and meet new people.
Thanks also to Keith who picked us up.
This tour comes at a price, and is worth every penny, if you want my opinion.

Have just spent 2 days exploring K’gari with Mark (Sarge), it was the best tour I have ever been a part of.
Mark made everyone feel welcomed from the first few minutes and as the tour went on we were all at ease and enjoying his and everyone’s company.
How he told his stories of the history of K’gari was entertaining and knowledgeable.
I can’t recommend this tour enough.
