How much luggage can I take?
We don't have an exact policy when it comes to luggage though we just ask our customers to be mindful that we have limited space. Generally we recommend people to bring a large backpack/suitcase with all their gear and another smaller backpack to keep on the bus and hold their daily items ( phone, water bottle, towel, sunscreen etc ) and which they used to take on walks etc. If you have a lot of luggage is best to leave the things you don't need at your hotel/hostel where they will store it for free.
Where can I store my luggage whilst on tour?
During the tour your main luggage will be stored in our trailer. This trailer is always locked however we cannot guarantee the complete safety of your gear from theft or damage. This is why it is so important to purchase a good travel insurance. If you need to store your luggage whilst away on tour, this can be done through your accommodation. Most hostel and hotels will store your luggage safely free of charge.

For camping tours there will be no time to do laundry. However, for longer cross country tours involving hostel or hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to wash your clothes.

Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Can I get online whilst travelling?
For tours incorporating hostel/hotel style accommodation you may have the opportunity to use wireless internet or use of nearby internet cafe. If you have a mobile plan with internet then that should be ok except for more remote regions. This will vary from tour to tour so please contact us directly for more accurate information.
Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?
You can use your mobile while touring in Australia or New Zealand, but coverage may be limited in remote areas. For best connectivity, consider purchasing a local SIM card or an international roaming plan.

That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible. Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. Who travels with us
Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
What does "Paid Locally" mean?
Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.

“I have just finished the Grand Kiwi Tour and it was an amazing e”
This is largely due to our tour guide Tina. She single handedly made every effort to make the trip excellent for myself and everyone else on the tour. At any opportunity Tina would go out of her way to help and assist all of us, meeting any of our needs. Tina also went above and beyond to make sure we could complete all our chosen activities, even when some were cancelled last minute due to weather etc. Tina made every effort to make the experience as best it could and myself and all others included cannot say enough good words about her. Alongside this, Tina's upbeat happy attitude rubbed off on all of us and created a great atmosphere, even when he had long travel days and early mornings. Thank you again to Tina for making this trip truly memorable, it is really appreciated!
“I cannot recommend it enough :)”
I had an amazing 2 weeks on the southern round up! Our driver was Lightning and he was the best, I had so much fun while on the bus and the regular stops are a great way to see more of New Zealand and also break up the long journeys. It was also so easy to make friends whilst travelling. This is the perfect way to see the South Island in a short amount of time
“ I would def do it again!”
It was an amazing experience! Met the most incredible people. Not just the group, but also our guide Tina Tapu was such a good and sweet guide, she really cared and wanted everyone to have the best experience possible. Overall the whole group trip was amazing.
“Amazing adventure all round!”
We had Tina as our guide for the GOAT tour and couldn’t have asked for anything more. She made us all feel welcome and was always available if we had any issues or questions. Couldn’t recommend the trip enough to anyone who is looking to experience all parts of New Zealand
“Very enjoyable!!!”
Tuff went above and beyond as a bus driver. Very friendly and accommodating.
“So much fun”
Best 2 weeks of my life, cowboy one of the bus drivers really made the experience special and i am dying to go back. The activities were so easy to book through kiwi experience as well as accommodation.
“ I can highly recommend it!!!”
I really enjoyed my trip with Kiwi Experience. In only 14 days of bus ride in New Zealand, I was able to see so many different places, meet so many new people and had so much fun :). Our driver Tawh also gave us lots of insights in the Maori history and very useful tips and recommendations.
“Had a fantastic experience! ”
Simple to book buses and travel all around New Zealand with little worries. Loved that we stopped along the way to hike, look at animals/scenery, and at lots of grocery stores! The bus drivers Diesel, Shawn, and Frosty were all fantastic!!
“Good!!”
Great Experience
“ Thank you again for such an amazing experience!”
I’m a bit late posting this review as I did the GOAT tour December to January but it is the best trip I have ever been on. I decided to do this tour as I wanted to travel through New Zealand without all the stress of planning. As some of the others have mentioned we all had a great experience and made lasting memories together. A big thank you to our driver Lightning, as I couldn’t have asked for a better driver, guide, and friend. He was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about New Zealand, and he always had new games and riddles for us to keep us entertained (I just wish we had more time to play werewolf). I did a lot of the optional activities too which were great, with my personal favourites being the trip to Hobbiton and the swim with the dusky dolphins. The entire journey had good vibes, including the emotional yet inevitable ending, and I cannot recommend this trip enough.
“AAbsolutely LOVED doing the Kiwi Experience.”
Beautiful country, most welcoming people and the green bus was worth every penny!
“Highly recommend it.”
The kiwi experience was absolutely brilliant and best way to get around New Zealand. Our bus driver lightening ⚡️made our trip! He was knowledgeable, funny and willing to answer questions we had.
“It was one of the best tours!!”
I enjoyed every moment of it, thanks to Wiggles and Kiwi Experience. All worked perfect and i will warmly recommend Kiwi Experience to my friends.
“A really good guide as well.”
All was Perfect and Wiggles deserves a special mention for his kindness, safe driving, taking care of all our needs.
“I would just advise others to do some research beforehand if tra”
I had a great time on the kiwi bus, made loads of friends and visited so many nice places. The bus drivers I had were all friendly, approachable and knowledgable. Unfortunately due to the time of year, the ‘hop on, hop off’ aspect of the tour didn’t really work as I’d hoped it would, as the buses behind us were really busy so you couldn’t just hop off for a day or two when you felt like it, you had to plan it quite far in advance. This was a bit of a shame because I was planning to play things by ear, and there were a few places I would have loved to stay one extra night. (You could still hop off whenever you wanted to but would likely be placed on a waiting list for space on the next bus, which could delay your trip by 2,3,4 days etc. Wouldn’t have been a problem if you were someone with a more flexible schedule/budget than me.) Kiwi make it so easy for you to book on to activities and experiences and with discounts pretty much every time which was awesome. It was also really nice having guaranteed accommodation sorted for you each night. All in all I would definitely recommend Kiwi E and would travel with them again 100%.
“So much fun”
