Our small group tour of Lutruwita/Tasmania begins with an exploration of the wild West Coast, featuring a series of stunning short walks throughout the day. The journey takes in three breathtaking National Parks, starting with Mount Field, home to the majestic Russell Falls and the world’s tallest flowering trees. Next, stand on the shores of Lake St Clair—Australia’s deepest freshwater lake—nestled within the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. Continuing west, dramatic landscapes unfold, with rugged mountains, vast buttongrass plains, and lush rainforests in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. A stop in Queenstown offers insight into Tasmania’s pioneering history before arriving in the harbourside village of Strahan.

Day 2: WILD WEST COAST
Choose between two stunning options: For an active adventure in the West Coast wilderness, join a guided walk amongst temperate rainforest and the towering Henty Sand Dunes. For a more relaxed day, opt for the Gordon River Cruise (own cost), which journeys through Macquarie Harbour, stops at Sarah Island and into the World Heritage Area to stroll amongst the ancient Huon pines. Later, visit the windswept Ocean Beach, Tasmania’s longest stretch of sand, and take in the world’s freshest air.

Day 3: CRADLE MOUNTAIN TO LAUNCESTON
Cradle Mountain National Park is a world-class hiking destination. Deep within the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, the alpine landscape is rich in wildlife. At Ronny Creek, keep an eye out for wombats before choosing from several walking options to explore the stunning mountain environment. Will it be the challenging climb to Marion’s Lookout for breathtaking views, or the scenic 6km circuit around glacial-carved Dove Lake? The journey continues to Sheffield, the Town of Murals, before arriving in Launceston.

Day 4: LAUNCESTON TO BICHENO
Begin by exploring Cataract Gorge, a stunning nature reserve just minutes from Launceston’s city centre. Enjoy a short walk while keeping an eye out for wallabies before heading to Tasmania’s East Coast. Stop for lunch in the fishing town of St Helens, then stroll along the dazzling white sands and turquoise waters of Larapuna/Bay of Fires. Learn about its deep cultural significance to the Palawa/Tasmanian Aboriginal people while soaking in the breathtaking coastal scenery. The day ends in the relaxed seaside town of Bicheno, home to the little penguin.

Day 5: FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK TO HOBART
Discover Tasmania’s East Coast jewel, Freycinet National Park. Hike 1000 steps to the stunning Wineglass Bay Lookout and down to the pristine Wineglass beach. For a more challenging adventure, tackle the steep climb to Mt Amos, where panoramic vistas stretch across the Freycinet peninsula. Instead, you can relax and enjoy the views of the Hazard’s mountains pink granite peaks and coastal bushlands from Honeymoon Bay.
Finally, take in sweeping views of the Tasman Sea from the Cape Tourville Lighthouse, before journeying along the Great Eastern Drive back to Nipaluna/Hobart where the tour of Tasmania concludes.

Cancellations by You
At the time of booking we strongly advise you to obtain personal travel insurance which includes cover for cancellation costs.
If you cancel some or all portions of your booking the cancellation terms set out below will apply.
If you cancel a booking:
- 0 to 14 days before the departure date or failure to board on tour will result in a 100% cancellation fee of the booking amount and not eligible for a refund.
- 15 or more days prior to the departure – we will refund the full balance paid by you in connection with your booking. Flexible date changes available.
- Reservations made with a deposit are non-refundable.
Cancellations by Us
If we cancel your tour, you can transfer the fare paid towards a tour on an alternate date or alternatively receive a full refund. Refunds will be provided where required by Australian Consumer Law.
In circumstances where a cancellation is due to external events outside our reasonable control, refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs. We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking including but not limited to visas, vaccinations, travel insurance excess or non-refundable flights.

What is the baggage allowance?
You may bring a backpack or suitcase and it will be stored securely in our trailer during the day and unloaded each evening. We recommend bring a smaller day pack to store your daily essentials such as drinks, jackets and sunscreen while on tour.
What immunisations do I need?
For the latest information on immunisations, we strongly recommend you or contact the Travellers Medical and Vaccination Centre (www.traveldoctor.com.au) to discuss health requirements for your trip. They will advise you about appropriate inoculations.
Do I need to take any medical supplies?
It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.
How fit do I need to be?
Our tours are made to be fun, informative and active and can be enjoyed by anyone with a moderate degree of fitness and agility. Travellers should be comfortable with hiking/walking up to 5km each day.
Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?
You can use your mobile while touring in Australia or New Zealand, but coverage may be limited in remote areas. For best connectivity, consider purchasing a local SIM card or an international roaming plan.
Can we depart Tasmania the day our tour finishes? Can we be dropped off at the Airport?
Yes, you can depart Tasmania the same day your tour finishes; to be on the safe side we advise all flights leaving Tasmania should be booked for 8pm or later.We can arrange an airport drop off on the final day of tour the following tours: 7 Day, 6 Day, 5 Day, 4 Day. If you wish to be dropped at the Airport on either of these please ensure you have all possessions with you on tour as you will be dropped at the airport on the way back into Hobart.For all other tours you will be dropped into the city centre.
Can I arrive in Tasmania the day my tour departs?
No, You will need to arrive into your departure city at least the day before your tour is scheduled to depart, due to the early start to our day tours and multi-day tours you cannot arrive the same day your tour is set to depart.
How can I get from the Airport to the city centre?
HOBART AIRPORT INFORMATIONLOCATION – Hobart Airport is located 17 kilometres (roughly a 15-20 minute drive) from the city centre of Hobart. You can get to and from the airport via the SkyBus, Uber or taxis.SKYBUS HOBART EXPRESS SHUTTLE SERVICE – Skybus operates a regular express bus service between Hobart Airport and select locations in Hobart’s city centre.TAXIS – Taxis are located directly out the front of the building and cost approximately $40 to $60 each way to/from Hobart’s city centre. If you need a mini-van or special taxi ask one of the kerbside assistants who will radio one through for you.UBER – Uber is available in Hobart and rides can be organised through their app. Fares can be cheaper than taxis however wait times can vary largely and are dependent on available drivers in the local area.LAUNCESTON AIRPORT INFORMATIONLOCATION – Launceston Airport is located 15 kilometres south of Launceston on the Evandale Main Road. Do I have to book this tour online?
Definitely not. Our website is designed to make is easy and convenient for you to schedule your tour. However we understand sometimes its nice to talk to someone directly. So by all means give us a call and we can organise your trip over the phone.
If I book more than one tour can I get a discount?
Absolutely! If you are booking multiple tours then we may be able to offer you a discount. Send us an email at info@lostinaustralia.org and let us know what you thinking of doing and we can put together a price for you.Also, be sure to look out for monthly specials on tours. We often have some great bargains.
How do I know when a tour is available?
You can check the departure dates of tours by using our calendar on the top right hand corner of the tour page. This will tell you what days the tour departs. For availability of seats please contact us directly at info@lostinaustralia.org or call us.
Does the tour price include flights?
No. Tour prices do not include any travel arrangements other than for the duration of the tour itself. If you need assistance with booking flights or buses our travel team and certainly help - Just ask!
How far in advance do I need to book my tour?
As a rule of thumb, try to book at least 2 weeks prior to departure, this will usually get you a seat on the date you want. That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible. Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. If you know when you'd like to travel, please contact us and we will let you know if you need to book soon or if you have time.
If you cancel a booking due to COVID-19
Within 21 days of departure and due to you having COVID-19 or symptoms and supported by a medical certificate, or due to border closures inhibiting your ability to travel, we will refund monies paid by you in connection with the booking less any unrecoverable costs.

Is this Tasmania tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of ages, nationalities and backgrounds - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast - although there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.

What accommodation will we be sleeping in during our Tassie trip?
During our Tasmania tours we stay in a wide variety of different hostels and motels with dorm style accommodation. All accommodation are run by friendly and hospitable locals who's job it is to make sure you enjoy your stay while in Tassie!For those who'd like more privacy, we do have the option to upgrade to twin or double rooms with private facilities.
Can I book extra accommodation for the start and end of the tour?
We know our country inside and out and would be happy to give you good recommodations. Please contact us for recommendations.
Where do I meet the tour?

Here we list everywhere we can pick up from and their respective times.There is a lot of information here to help you plan your flights and arrival.Please review careful as these can vary from tour to tour.
Is food included on this tour?
We believe that our guests prefer to do their own thing when it comes to meals. We allow them their own space each day to dine out and enjoy the local fare and provide recommendations, and we also assist by taking guests to the local supermarket to purchase items that can be prepared in the kitchen at each hostel, either individually or as a group. If there's something you can't do without, just bring it with you! Please advise your dietary requirements at the time of booking.
What vehicle do we use to explore Tasmania?
For our Tasmania tours we generally use one of our custom prepared 4WD Mini buses. However this depends on the size of the group and the amount of days we are out and about. Each Tasmania tour varies so please refer to your tour info panel on the top right hand side of the page.
What is the weather like in Tasmania?
Tasmania weather has four distinct seasons. The warmest months are December, January, February and March. Autumn (Fall) has many sunny days and the landscape produces a mass of colour as 200 year-old oaks, elms, birches and Tasmania’s own native beech, turn from gold to red in preparation for winter. Winter runs from May through August. Spring spans September, October and November, and brings oceans of wildflowers. The average summer temperatures sit between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius (62 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit) and in winter, between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius (37 and 51 degrees Fahrenheit). Tasmania’s location below the 40th parallel means the summer evenings display a lingering twilight

I did the 5-day tour of Tasmania! It was beautiful. Even though it was only a few days, I managed to see a lot. Our guide, Anthony, was fantastic. He explained many interesting things to us. I really liked the east coast, and in the west, I really loved Cradle Mountain! It's a wonderful country. We stayed in very nice and clean hostels; we were a great group. Everything was perfect.

Outstanding adventure last week! I was very lucky to have traveled all around Tassie through Under Down Under Famous 5 tour! What made this trip extra fantastic was our guide and driver Anthony. Anthony genuinely enjoys his job and it is shown through his passion, in-depth knowledge and fun facts. His friendly, talkative nature made everyone feel welcomed and safe, while being one of the best drivers to navigate the unexpected weather and all road conditions, plus gave clear and organized information to help us all have the best experience. I really appreciate Anthony, even if he is only a tiny bit taller than a NZ fur seal HAHA. I cannot wait to come back to explore more of Tasmania. I took part in the five-day trip through western and eastern Tasmania. It was a very interesting trip. Tasmania is incredibly beautiful, and we were able to gather many different impressions. We visited beaches, national parks, and cities as well as smaller towns. During the ride, I saw many places where I would have liked to stop, but it’s understandable that time did not allow for that. The accommodations were also great. Gerrit, our guide, provided us with extensive knowledge about the history of Tasmania, as well as the various locations and nature. His knowledge is truly impressive. I am very glad I booked the tour. For solo travelers, this is definitely the best way to explore a lot of the island in a short amount of time.

Recently finished the Tasmania Famous 5 / Winter Wonders Tour with our amazing tour guide Brendon—and needless to say we had the best time! Our jam packed tour was filled with breathtaking sceneries, unique experiences, and of course, the highly awaited cute animals! Each day was different from the last and no matter how many parks we’ve been to or beaches we’ve passed by, everything was exciting up to the very end. Brendon was indeed a very passionate guide all throughout the trip. From the detailed explanations about each place, the impromptu stops in remarkable areas, checking on the aurora just in case we were lucky, and even up to the banter we had on tour, Brendon truly went above and beyond to give us the best Tasmania experience ever (even if we might’ve tested his patience a couple of times—whoops! ). A well deserved thanks are in order for being so wonderful with all of us, especially my mum! I went on the Winter Wonders tour this June and it was absolutely wonderful! Our tour guide Brendon was the perfect guide! He knew and shared a lot of history about the places we went, was easy going, respectful and genuinely seemed like he wanted us all to have an amazing experience in Tasmania. He even went out of his way to take us to a beautiful beach full of seashells which was one of my favourite parts! The few different places we went to hike had different level tracks which was really nice so you had some options depending on your physical capabilities or energy levels. I found it was very well paced with the activities and also the driving time. I felt like I saw lots during this tour and definitely want to come back! Tasmania is stunning but hard to travel without a car so going with Under Down Under was the perfect way to see it.

It’s hard to describe in words what I experienced in 5 days! The sheer diversity of Tasmania - beaches, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, rainforests, sand dunes, hikes, snow, wildlife, seafood, wine tasting, quiet little seaside towns. The unmatched energy of our driver-cum-guide Anthony. The brilliant pacing of things, which is so difficult to get right on a group tour - never did things feel rushed or tight. The motels were superb - clean and well appointed.
I came back completely soul refreshed and this was easily one of the best holidays of my life! Just book it - it’s worth every single penny!

Just finished a 5 day tour with Hadyn as my tour guide. The trip itself and Hadyn were absolutely fantastic! Hadyn was incredibly knowledgeable, a great storyteller and even an amazing musician. A highlight for me was sitting around with the other guests on the tour listening to Hadyn play guitar. I learned a lot about Australian history and about our flora and fauna on the trip and found Tasmania to be a beautiful place. I’m very glad to have taken this trip and highly recommend it to others!

We are usually not tour people however this active outdoor tour exceeded our expectations. We spent more time off the bus than on. The hike to Marion's lookout at Cradle Mountain was spectacular with the wild wombats as a bonus! Loved Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay. Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is a must! There is nothing like feeding a roo! Our tour leader knew everything about Tasmania - history, plants, and wildlife. We would definitely go with Under Down Under if we make it back to Tasmania again.

I took the Famous Five Tour with them and was incredibly happy with my experience! Going in July was proof that Tasmania is also worth visiting in winter. The booking process was smooth and there are a bunch of pick-up spots around Hobart, so I only had a 2-minute walk to get on the bus from my accommodation. All hostels we stayed in during the tour were clean, comfy and well equipped, and the locations visited by the tour are a really nice mix of hikes, stunning outlooks and time on the beach. Our guide Brendon went out of his way to make it a great trip for everyone. He adapted the schedule flexibly, adding a stop here and there if it was necessary due to weather. Because the show starts early in winter, we were even able to attend the „Devils in the dark“ Experience in Bicheno, which was absolutely amazing! Tasmania has loads of fun animal warning signs on the streets and thanks to Brendon pointing them out and slowing down everytime, we now have a perfect photo collection of Wombats, Devils, Wallabies & co pictograms.

The 5-day Tasmania trip is amazing. Hands down the best tour I have joined. I am able to visit exquisite locations like Gordon river in West Tasmania all the way to the famous Cradle mountain and Bay of Fires. This whole trip couldn't be more perfect without Anthony's guidance as tour guide. His diverse fun facts and history commentary about every place we've come across has turned from a mundane bus ride to an exciting journey throughout every location's history. His clear, detailed explanation and advice on various scenic routes has immensely helped us in preparing for every day's journey, and his funny puns and jokes always provide a warm and homey atmosphere during all those long bus rides. Tasmania has just earned an additional returning tourist.

With Tim as our tour guide/driver, we covered about 1400 km of Tasmanian wilderness in 5 days. We felt like we saw everything and then some! Tim was informative and a great storyteller, but definitely not annoying. He was also punctual, which is important when there is so much to do and see.
The vehicle fit 20 people and was very comfy. I appreciated the well spaced breaks for bathrooms and snacks. We chose the motel option and each one was clean and comfortable.
The itinerary is planned and full of great hikes, a boat tour, etc. We had a great time. Having done this tour, I can say that we would have never been able to navigate Tasmania on our own with this kind of efficiency and detail. Thank goodness for a knowledgeable and skilled driver!

Recently finished the Tasmania Famous 5 / Winter Wonders Tour with our amazing tour guide Brendon—and needless to say we had the best time! Our jam packed tour was filled with breathtaking sceneries, unique experiences, and of course, the highly awaited cute animals! Each day was different from the last and no matter how many parks we’ve been to or beaches we’ve passed by, everything was exciting up to the very end. Brendon was indeed a very passionate guide all throughout the trip. From the detailed explanations about each place, the impromptu stops in remarkable areas, checking on the aurora just in case we were lucky, and even up to the banter we had on tour, Brendon truly went above and beyond to give us the best Tasmania experience ever (even if we might’ve tested his patience a couple of times—whoops! ). A well deserved thanks are in order for being so wonderful with all of us, especially my mum! I recently joined the Famous 5 tour with Down Under Tours and had an exceptional experience. Our guide, Tim, was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and approachable.
Accommodation in Strahan was very comfortable, featuring spacious rooms, cozy beds with electric blankets, and all the necessary amenities, including access to a communal microwave, washer, and dryer. The motel stays in Launceston and Bicheno were also of a high standard.
The tour itself was very well-organised, offering full, activity-packed days that maximised the time we had. The small group size (a maximum of 24 people) made for a more personal and enjoyable experience. I met some wonderful people along the way, many of whom I’ll be keeping in touch with.
Tim's genuine passion for his work greatly enhanced the trip, and I sincerely thank him for making it such a memorable journey. I had an incredible time and highly recommend Down Under Tours. I’ll definitely be booking with them again on my next visit to Tasmania.

The Hostels were okay.
We made plenty of stops near bakeries and supermarkets to grab food and drinks. In the evening we had enough free time to cook.
The views were amazing. Our highlights were the echidna and wombat we saw, the Bay of Fires and the Wineglass Bay walk we did.
We highly recommend this tour to explore Tasmania, because we had so much fun!

We joined the Famous 5 tour with Anthony as our guide. It was the best tour I could have signed up for! Must see scenic spots are fitted right into a 5 day schedule without being too jam packed. There are always options of short walks and hikes for people with different activity level, so as a couch potato, I can still complete these courses. Anthony is a chill guy, very informative and has a great sense of humour. His on-the-road playlist sets you on the mood for the day ahead! We had a nice mix of guests from all over the world on the tour, people are friendly and the atmosphere is light. I would definitely recommend Under Down Under! If you really want to experience the best of tazmania without any worries, I do highly recommend this guys!
Everything is very well planned: from transport, to accommodation, to breathtaking destinations!
There is no way I could've found those places without this tour!
Also, it is such good value for money!
If you are lucky enough, you'll have Anthony as your tour guy: a dedicated, proffesional, down to earth guide with lots of knowledge.
Last little tip: While in Strahan, if you have the opportunity to go to the theatre production: "The ship that never was", do not hesitate and go for it!

There are not enough words to express how amazing this trip was!!! I never write reviews but this was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I originally chose this tour because I saw good reviews on reddit, and I’m glad I did. This was my first tour ever and first solo backpacking tour as well, so I was worried about safety. The tour guide (Phil) and group was absolutely amazing. Under down under is a local company and you can tell - everything was thought out and authentically local from start to finish. During booking, the online chat service was available 24 hours to answer any questions I had (and I had a lot of questions). We stayed at three different hostels and naturally I was worried, I also thought I wouldn’t be able to make any friends. There were a lot of solo travellers and some duos but we all got along very well - the safety and security of the group, as well as the fun, was thought out well. At the start of the tour, our group of 11 immediately got along and are still friends to this day. Phil was available to answer any questions at all times, reassuring us and letting us know about everything local - where to buy oysters, what’s nearby, what’s the best place for dinner etc. he was prompt, punctual, you could tell he knew his stuff. I wish I have a tour guide like Phil for every trip. One of the hostels was a house that was only for our tour group in a beach town and that was phenomenal - we made a lot of great laughs and memories. We got to see wombats and wallabies in their natural habitat, we got a private tour of the boring wildlife sanctuary where we got to see Tasmanian devils and feed kangaroos, and we got try leatherwood honey icecream at a local ice creamery (a Tasmanian special). The hikes and nature accommodated all levels of fitness and I felt supported and safe throughout the experience. The expectations were clear, Phil clearly communicated everything from the start, and I saw everything I wanted to and more during this tour. I could go on for pages complimenting each and every single detail that was well thought out about this tour but you get the picture. I can’t recommend this tour enough and I wish there was a local tour like this for every city I visit. The entire customer service and experience was personalised, smooth and spectacular. This is a trip I’ll remember for a lifetime. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wish I was there longer.

Went for the Tassie 5 highlight trip for my birthday. Our tour guide was Phil. Had an amazing time. Learnt a little bit of landscape, history, random facts. The banter was lovely and the information is interesting. Felt safe and properly guided throughout A trip that I will always remember fondly! Couldn’t have reached the top of Mount Amos without Phil (literally. We went wrong to the direction). Highly recommended. Truly. Even if you go alone, you’ll make friends on the trip. The only 1 thing that would have made it even better for me is the choice of lodging along the route.

I took part in the five-day trip through western and eastern Tasmania. It was a very interesting trip. Tasmania is incredibly beautiful, and we were able to gather many different impressions. We visited beaches, national parks, and cities as well as smaller towns. During the ride, I saw many places where I would have liked to stop, but it’s understandable that time did not allow for that. The accommodations were also great. Gerrit, our guide, provided us with extensive knowledge about the history of Tasmania, as well as the various locations and nature. His knowledge is truly impressive. I am very glad I booked the tour. For solo travelers, this is definitely the best way to explore a lot of the island in a short amount of time.

Hands down the best tour I have joined. I am able to visit exquisite locations like Gordon river in West Tasmania all the way to the famous Cradle mountain and Bay of Fires. This whole trip couldn't be more perfect without Anthony's guidance as tour guide. His diverse fun facts and history commentary about every place we've come across has turned from a mundane bus ride to an exciting journey throughout every location's history. His clear, detailed explanation and advice on various scenic routes has immensely helped us in preparing for every day's journey, and his funny puns and jokes always provide a warm and homey atmosphere during all those long bus rides. If you have limited time and a modest budget this Famous 5 tour of Tasmanian is perfect. We had long days but covered a lot of area and saw as many wilderness sites as possible in that amount of time. Our guild took us to places where we were able to see wallabies, wombats and lots of different birds. There was a hostel option which was less expensive and a motel option which we used. The motels were clean and had everything needed. Our guild was efficient and very punctual. I would book with this company again. The only negative would be the bus was very squishy and bumpy but given that the roads were very narrow and twisty and not in great shape at times this might be unavoidable.

The driving was spaced out so nothing felt far away and the bus was comfortable. Accommodation was comfortable with adequate facilities. Itinerary: Excellent!! Loved all the stops, and decent breaks during the drives.
Guide/Driver: Really liked Anthony, he gave us some great commentary.
Motels: Clean, comfortable, quiet, and centrally located. Except for the poor wifi at the Hobart Travelodge, we were really pleased.
Bus: Comfortable if you are no taller than 180 cm, else your knees will be right against the seat in front. There is no overhead storage and barely any under the seat, so if the bus is full, you'll have your daypack on your lap for the drives.
Group Size: My rating is based on the fact that there were only 12 people in our group, so there was room to spread out on the bus. But the max size is 24, and it seems like that would slow everything down--at at least one of the bakery stops, there was only one toilet.

I have just finished the Tassie 5 highlights tour and it was an amazing introduction to Tasmania. Our guide Anthony was just fantastic. He was so passionate about his job and so knowledgeable on all of the areas we were travelling to and passing through. Tasmania is unlike any other country I’ve been to and I was blown away by its’ beauty. A particular highlight for me was definitely the Bay of the Fires. Photos of the place look impressive but it’s nothing like being there (luckily on a beautifully sunny day). The accommodation was comfortable and the tour itself was very well organised. I opted for the motel option but the hostel option also sounded more than adequate from the one person in our group that had opted for that. The transportation was really comfortable and a great playlist and beautiful scenery made long drives pass quick. For the amount that was packed into a very short tour, I never felt rushed nor that the days were too long. I was with a lovely group (obviously not within the tour company’s’ control but it makes a huge difference!) and I think the good vibes amongst the group were definitely aided by Anthony’s great personality.

The Tassie 5 tour takes you around some of the most beautiful places in Australia. While driving it is amazing to see how the Tasmanian scenery changes from white sandy beaches, to temperate rainforests and mountains, to farming countryside. The hikes were scenic, with different levels of difficulty to suit everyone’s capabilities. There was lots of wildlife - we saw wombats, wallabies, and a platypus! The hostels are comfortable, especially the one in Bicheno.
Our tour guide Tom was a lovely and genuine person who really made this whole experience as great as it was. He shared with us some very interesting and important Australian history and his passion and enthusiasm for the places we visited was infectious. He made sure the tour was always running smoothly, stayed upbeat throughout, and kept us safe with his excellent driving - especially in some challenging stormy conditions. Tom has an ability to make everyone feel included and he’s a real credit to Under Down Under.

My mother (92) and my partners mother (82) plus both of us on the other side of 60 and not in peak condition struggled terribly. Had an incredible five days in Tas with Justzen, best tour guide ever!! So knowledgeable and a lovely guy who looked after us every minute of the tour. Always spot on with food recommendations and managed expectations about wildlife spotting perfectly (bonus for getting us in with the wombats, wallaby’s, platypuses). The natural beauty of Tasmania was amazing; waterfalls, beaches (even got a dip in the Bay of Fires), rainforests, lakes, mountains, the works! The tour was very full on which was great for seeing so much stuff and getting very active, maybe the bus could be a bit more comfy though!

Brilliant tour, I highly recommend it! Beautiful Waterfalls, gorgeous views, crystal clear turquoise water at white beaches, impressive rock formations,... Each day was better than the last. I loved the different options we had each day so everybody could do something according to their fitness level. It was such a lovely and funny group, all kinds of nationalities and ages from 20 to 60 and everybody chatted with everybody. Transport in the bus and the accommodations were fine (I slept in a dorm). Except one little glitch in the accommodation in Launceston the tour was perfectly organized and ran smoothly from A to Z. Our Tourguide Tim was very knowledgeable and could always tell us some interesting facts about our surroundings, history, animal life etc.. He was very informative, funny, patient and knew his way around the route blind. I've never had a better Tourguide. Thanks for amazing 5 days!!!

I did the tassie 5 tour with Tim as a tour guide and it was an amazing experience! We had a great diverse group of people and we spent the week doing so many cool hikes including cradle mountain and wineglass bay. Tim was very knowledgeable and great at pointing out animals such as platypus, wallabies, paddy melons, and an echidna!

We just did the Famous Five tour of Tasmania. It was fantastic.
We had Tim as our Guide and he was very knowledgeable about plants, wildlife, towns etc as we toured Tassie. He was extremely helpful to the group.
We had a mixed group of ages (21 to 78) and from many different countries. Solo travellers , couples and mates on the tour.
Everyone got on and had a few laughs.
There’s lots of walking, waterfalls and views as well lots of animals to see. There is So much to see and enjoy here.
Motel accomodation is clean and good on this tour, not 5 star and that’s ok, it’s clean and comfortable.
If I had one small gripe it would be that food in Strahan is either a rip off $42 a main at Hamers or The Kitchen ( sorry that’s Sydney /Melbourne Prices not a town of 700 people ) or barely average food at Molly’s or the Fish and Chips. So maybe tour operators need to reconsider this town. So for me Strahan was a disappointment.
Other reviewers have mentioned this as an issue.
Otherwise this was a throughly enjoyable and great way to see Tasmania with an excellent guide.

I did the 5 day - Famous 5 - Tour. You’re driving around the Island in 5 days, from the west to the east coast. We saw all important and great things and visited beautiful spots. I really enjoyed Tasmania and loved it over there.
Unfortunately our tour guide, Natalie, wasn’t great at all. She was really rude and disrespectful to the group. Especially if you have trouble speaking English.
Nevertheless I recommend this tour to everybody. Especially I you don’t have much time or no possibility to rent a car.
And the company already responded to me, that there are going to do something about the situations with our tour guide.

The most amazing experience lead by the most awesome tour guide Evan. I was a little apprehensive about going to Tassie on my own, but under down under had been recommended by a friend and this tour really exceeded my expectations.
Each day we packed so much adventure into the day, so many beautiful sights to see, the weather was perfect.
So many lovely people on the tour, there were lots of solo travellers like myself as well as some couples. Mixture of ages of travellers in their 20s, 40s and 60s and older. Each day the activities had options for more strenuous or more energetic activities based on what you were wanting from the day and your energy/ ability levels.
Our guide Evan made sure we were all looked after, and that we had our “squeeze the lemon” ( toilet) stops. Evan also entertained us with lots of interesting facts about each area we went to. He made sure everyone was happy and safe on each excursion and was always friendly and chatty.
And for those that love coffee there were plenty of coffee/bakery stops.
For vegans like myself, there were limited options for food in regional areas . So recommend taking your own,or downloading the happy cow ap. There was a great cafe in st Helen’s that did have some vegan options, otherwise grab yourself something from the local IGA or pie face. Having a list of where to get vegan food would have been handy so check online before you go.
The whole tour showcased many of the best parts of Tassie, I made lots of friends on the tour, which being I’m a mature traveler ( mid 40s) I was a bit concerned but I need not have been.
We stayed in backpackers accom and it was really good too. No problem there. However you can opt for a single room or motel accom for an extra fee if you don’t like sharing a room. All round an amazing trip and I can’t wait to do another one with this company !

I've just returned from this trip and wanted to gush about it to keep the experience alive for a bit longer!
I went solo on this trip, but was immediately made feel welcome by our wonderful tour guide, Evan, and the rest of the group. Met such fun people who really made the experience even better! The sights ranged from rainforest waterfalls to mountain lakes to the turquoise of east coast waters. There was so much to see and I can't believe how much we managed to pack in in just 5 days -- yet without ever feeling rushed or short for time! They really know what they're doing, and years of experience running this tour really shows.
And a shoutout still for Evan, who was all smiles and positive energy throughout the whole trip. He would tell us interesting stories about the locales, about the flora and fauna -- and he was also great at informing us about the plans for the days (where we'd grab food, where we could take a bathroom break), so it was easy to plan ahead. He was genuine and you could tell he loved his job. His energy was infectious. We got incredibly lucky with the weather, but I have my suspicion that Evan had some hand in that, too... Wouldn't put it past such an A+ tour guide.
This is such a great way to get the highlights of beautiful Tasmania in a short time, while also meeting like-minded people to share the experience with. Definitely recommend!

Unfortunately the Tassie 5 tour has come to an end. I had great days, with a super fun group and a great tour guide. Tom always approached the group with a lot of calm and respect. He had a lot to say and talked with passion about the beautiful nature reserves, the animals and the inhabitants of Tasmania. He took the time to get to know everyone and made you feel like you could say anything to him! We had a small group tour and it was a great way to meet and connect with new people. I love that you are passionate about your job Tom that you made the trip worthwhile! There is alternative routes you can take catered to all fitness levels! We also evaded the rain from the start towards the end of the trip! This tour is definitely the best way to see Tassie. I did the five day tour with my family (husband and two kids aged 13 and 17) and we all loved it. Keygan, our tour guide, was brilliant - he kept everyone organized, took us to some beautiful spots away from the normal tourist route, kept up some very informative and interesting commentary, drove the bus beautifully and kept us all safe on our varied hikes - he even cleared the road of a fallen tree which was blocking our path! All the accommodation was basic but comfortable and there were plenty of stops along the way to stock up on food and snacks. I can highly recommend this company and tour.

If you want to cover all the best spots in Tasmania, I would highly recommend this tour. We covered a lot of ground but nothing was ever rushed. We had plenty of time in each location to explore. Our guide, Tom, was fantastic. Very enthusiastic and passionate about what he does. He was conscious of the varied abilities/fitness levels of travellers and made recommendations accordingly. He was very knowledgeable, and super-friendly! Could not have asked for a better guide. If you have the money, I would highly recommend going for the motel accommodation as the hostels/backpackers are very basic. Excellent value for money regardless!

For such a small Island, there is a lot to see in Tasmania. By driving in a small van with an excellent guide, there’s no better way to get up close to nature: Mountains, Beaches, Waterfalls, Rainforests, and a lot more.
Our group of 16 was very fortunate to have Tom as our guide and driver on the 5 day tour all around the beautiful and surprising Tasmania. Tom, always with a smile on his face and wearing shorts when the rest of us were bundled up as Spring had just started, was a proud local showing off his Tassie home. Tom gave us lots of history along with personal stories to bring meaning to the many places we visited. He was knowledgeable of the animals and plants, interesting, engaged, passionate, and spent time getting to know each of us.
While there was a lot of driving, it’s the only way I could imagine to be able to visit so many National Parks, hike to see waterfalls, and get close to the unique animals of Tasmania.
This was a great tour with a great tour leader. I highly recommend you spend 5 days with Under Down Under Tours especially if Tom is your leader.

I really enjoyed every single moment, since the beginning it was easy to get to know the rest of the crew..some of them became friends and certainly will meet them again!
Anthony, our guide tour and bus driver as well, has such a good knowledge about every single corner of Tasmania! I couldn't ask for a better character to show us what the local communities are about, he really knows how to entertain people with his stories..
He's just the best!

A great trip led by KP. Early starts but lots of activities and locations to fit in. We were a varied group age wise but everyone's needs were catered for. Plenty of humour and fun facts and a great playlist was provided by KP.
I have a knee injury and I was kindly loaned a walking pole. The need for sufficient water was stressed and there were less strenuous options available.
The trip does not include meals so if you have particular dietary needs bear that in mind.
The tour covered most of the Tassie highlights so you certainly get 'the feel' of this State.
If you are short on time I thoroughly recommend this tour.

An absolutely brilliant 5 day tour with Keygan. We had a fantastic time, feel like we saw so much but never rushed. Keygan is probably the best guide I have ever had on a tour - knowledgable and fun, without overloading you. And clear and concise with plans and instructions on when to buy food, where to stay etc. The group bonded really well and the bus was comfortable. I would 100% recommend this tour!

The 5-day tour of Tasmania with Keygan was fantastic. Would highly recommend, we saw amazing parts of the island including stays in Strahan, Launceston and Bicheno. Highlights were the walks at Wineglass Bay and Marion's Lookout, Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair
National Park. The guide made the trip, Keygans knowledge was amazing and we learnt so much from him - he also went above and beyond, joining us on walks. 100% recommend.

We saw so much and had a great time. We chose the motel upgrade and the properties were good quality with comfy beds and 2/3 had toaster and crockery for Own breakfast. When we added up the cost of car hire, fuel, accommodation, park entries, plus time saving the tour was so worthwhile. Our guide Courtney was fantastic, always accommodating and helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Traveling with a mix of age groups and mostly Aussies (due to Covid) we all got along well. Highly recommend this option if you have limited time and want to see the highlights of Tassie. We will be back to see more in the future. Well done Under Down Under!

Misty created an experience on another level! The tour covered all main national parks in Tasmania including the beautiful Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires and Wine Glass Bay and you’ll surely discover breathtaking views you rarely find in other places. What I loved the most about the tour though was how close all the participants got towards the end of the tour. Our tour guide Misty made us “family” and we all learned a lot from each other.
I’ve joined many tours before but I’ve never felt so comfortable and connected with people on a tour. We ended up spending our New Year Eve night together after the tour was over and it became such a memorable night as well.

I took this wonderful tour with James December 14-18, 2018. I was picked-up at my hotel on time and we began our 5-day journey. The vehicle in which we drove around the country was good although the space between seats was a bit slight for tall people, where the knees were in contact with the seat in front (I am just under 6-feet). But, it was not too bad and I dealt with it painlessly. I do wish the vehicle had had overhead racks for stuff but, again, we each dealt with it; a less than filled vehicle certainly helped. The choices of places to visit were quite varied and seemed appropriate for seeing and learning about this highly varied place. Hikes were excellent with appropriate time given. The hostels we stayed at varied but ranged from I'd say very good down to certainly acceptable. Sleeping and bathroom accommodations were all acceptable, which is something I worried about a bit! The leader, James, was knowledgable and most friendly. The group, which ranged in age from 17-75, was fantastic! It was the best group of my month-long trip to Australia; this tour was the longest of my trip, which might have made a difference in giving time for getting to know people better. The hikes provided wonderful opportunities to get to talk with individuals and get to know them. There were sufficient bathroom breaks. Various countries represented included Australia, US, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Holland, Japan, China, Viet Nam! Hard to beat that. Sure, I expect a few other choices might have been made but I do not know what they might be. Thus, I recommend this trip highly.

Doing the "Famous 5" tour with Justin was definitely the highlight of our family trip around Australia.
I used to be a bit skeptical of group tours, but not only did we go home with so many memories of beautiful places, but also with a warm heart after what felt like a trip with a big family. We were a full group (24 people) of a wide range of ages, and Justin always went out of his way to create a great atmosphere and make sure everyone had a great time. He has a deep knowledge of Tasmania's nature and history and kept us entertained with stories, anecdotes, and great music.
We would go on another tour with Justin anytime, anywhere, and I would recommend it to anyone!

We had a time of our life on this tour meeting & befriending so many people from different countries & different age group... We are from Brisbane & know our country a bit but our guide Sid is a legend with such a deep knowledge about Australian/Tasmanian/Aboriginal history, fauna , flora , great sens of humor & great taste of music . Yes..whole bus was singing !! Thanks a lot Bro....(ha,ha ,ha).You are the great ambassador of our country! It's a pity that bus was not up to your standard & not suitable for such a long tour. PS. This was the first time I was travelling in a group tour as mostly in the past I have done only travelled as solo traveler or did a day tour. The experience from this tour has been so great that I am thinking of doing more such tours in future.
Keygan who had been our guide throughout this tour was very polite, humble, very knowledgeable, humorous and friendly. All the tour mates were very friendly and humorous. I made new friends which is great. The best thing about this tour with Under Down Under was that they had taken to places more than I expected and cost of your was reasonable. Apart from that, accommodation was good and everyone were very well taken care of.
Now I am back in Brisbane but feel like going back and doing the tour again. I would like to return to tour with Under Down Under in future.

What an awesome 5-day tour we had! Surely the best way to see the best of Tassie including loads of amazing views, wild animals and scenic drives.
Bonus: a tour guide like Justin makes your holiday definitely a memorable one! The amount of info he was able to provide along the funny stories and comments was just amazing, made the drives go by so fast too. We also loved the accommodations. Every single one was well equipped and clean, food options and grocery runs were always planned well and clearly communicated.

Living in Sydney I figured this was a great tour to do to get away from the hectic lifestyle and enjoy Tasmania. Sid was our tour guide and I can honestly say after the five days that my head is packed with new information. So much knowledge in one human brain, thank you Sid.
We were offered options for basically all the different activities based on difficulty so there were always something to choose from.
Incredible scenery throughout and always small pit stops for toilets, stretching, filling water bottles, etc.

A group of 3 of us have a fun time on the tour around Tasmania! We enjoyed Matt's facts about different things and his extensive knowledge about flora and fauna unique to Tasmania! The walks at Cradle mountain and up Mt Amos were highlights, and it was good to have moments of getting out of the bus and hiking. Going on this tour allowed us to see more things than we would have done if we went solo, and lots of things we never would have known about otherwise. Thanks for the great time Matt! I have to start by saying this was one of the most memorable and enjoyable tours I have ever been on.
During the 5 days we saw so much beautiful scenery, did some energetic and picturesque walks and hikes through rainforests, across beaches and up mountains.
Our guide Matt was friendly, knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to meet. I was lucky enough to be at the front of the bus on our last day and we had some great banter.
The tour group consisted of different nationalities, backgrounds and ages but everyone seemed to get on so well and I personally met a few who will remain as true friends way beyond the end of the trip.
Overall highlights were the walk around Cradle Mountain, seeing a wombat cross the road and even watching a bizarre play in Strahan.
I can’t recommend this tour highly enough and the experience will stay in my heart forever.

This was one of the best backpacking trips I've done. The guide Matt was one of the main reasons why the whole trip went so well. Knowledgeable, humorous, and fun are a few words to describe him. The trip was well planned out with all the necessary arrangements in place. The stay at Strahan was truly memorable because of Bumpy. An amazing trip! Five days jampacked with Walks, Climbs, Lookouts, Waterfalls, Lakes, Beaches, Animals, Cruises, Tall Trees, History, Conservation, Fresh Produce, Wine, Theatre, Fine Dining... we did it all under the expert guidance of Ian Cordwell. Ian personalised the tour to individuals, which I, as the least fit member of the group, really appreciated. :) The days didn't end early for Ian- he was always available to make sure we were happy, and this was much appreciated. We couldn't be happier with our 5 Day Under Down Under Tour- thanks very much to a great local company for a fantastic Tassie Experience. Support them- they are awesome, and much, much better value than hiring a car!

The tour guide was a girl called Misty who was absolutely brilliant in managing, driving and communicating with the group. Full days from 7am to 6pm which made the most of the time available. Thoroughly recommend as a tour to see the best of Tasmania.

This was an amazing trip. We had Phil as a tour guide and he worked hard to make sure we had a good time. I was a single traveler and booked this tour because I heard it had a backpacker vibe, and was happy to find about 10 other single travelers around 20-30 years old. We got to see so much of Tasmania in a short period of time. The group made meals together on some nights, and we all got together a few days after the tour as well. My highlight was making it up to Marion's Lookout at Cradle Mountain We all had a great time!! Thanks, Phil and Under Down Under!

I just got back from the 5 days tour of Tasmania, visiting from ouest to east! Such beautiful and different landscapes. I absolutely recommend this tour if you want to see things that you will nerver see somewhere else ( Tasmanian devil, hurry up, this specie is in great danger of extinction).
Comments from the tour guide were complete and interesting!
Breakfast were shared but not the meals, that's my only regret.
But defenetly go for it!!

We had a group of about 20 people and our experience was very good. Rick was really fun and easy-going, and explained to us lots of things about the culture of Tasmania. In spite of the fact that some days the weather was not optimal he cheered us up and proposed alternative visits and walks. We really appreciated it. Perfect tour of the island for backpackers. Plenty of hikes to beautiful scenic spots such as waterfalls, beaches, and mountains. Basic hostel accommodations and light breakfast provided. Also, we had the chance to interact with Tasmanian wildlife and there was an option to see penguins come ashore one evening. I loved the group I was with--all twentysomethings from all over the world. Would definitely recommend, especially to younger travelers!

This was a wonderful short tour operated by Under Down Under tours. Our tour guide Lee (or Leigh), picked us up as scheduled and we joined a small group of 14 ppl from different countries in a small minibus.
Lee was full of interesting tidbits and showed that he really loved Tasmania and his job.
The group was fun and friendly and most important no idiots that made the group late or caused problems.
The different places we visited were all pretty interesting and the optional extra Gordon River cruise was worth it. Wife enjoyed the Nature reserve the most, as we could get close and personal with a cute Wombat, Tassie Devils, Roos and Quoll.
The only little complains I can think of, were the seats in the bus and lack of cupholders in the bus. Seats could be a bit more comfortable. Other than that it, was a veey lovely way to spend 5 days

The best way to see Tasmania. The tour guide Darcy was very friendly and had a fantastic personality. By the end of the tour we were one big family regardless of age differences. There were some challenging walks but we were able to go at our own pace and were well looked after. Everything was explained really well so we had a good understanding of the history. This tour is well recommended.. we were all sad to leave..

Me and my friend took the Easter Uni break and traveled Tasmania through Under Down Under. I’m so glad I did this trip with you guys. The gorgeous national parks, Marion’s lookout and omg the cute kangaroos, wombat and Tassie devils, it’s so well planned.
I would like to say thank you to our tour guide Matthew. He showed us the unique parts of different towns, told us interesting stories and ‘scary safety warnings’... He’s such a nice and thoughtful guide!
I like how the tour would give us different hiking options so you can choose according to your own physical condition. Also, the bus ride is fairly comfortable as it allows regular toilet break.
This is definitely the company I recommend.

My wife and I recently took this tour with Under Down Under.
Highly recommend!! Was a great way to get a whistle stop view of this beautiful place. Just enough time taken in each place to get a taste of it without feeling rushed.
By far the highlight was our guide Darcy. We were admittedly blessed with a great group of people on our tour with whom we clicked with from the first day. But the way in which Darcy facilitated us getting to know each other by being open herself and encouraging group interaction was great. She was attentive and ensured to consult with the group regularly to ensure we all were happy with where and how things would run day to day. The information from Darcy as we went along on tour was interesting and informative without being boring. Felt like cruising around Tassie with a group of old friends. Take note Under Down Under you’ve got a great asset in this guide!
Great value for money tour for the backpacker or anyone who wants to see a lot of Tassie in a short time on a budget.

The highlights were the National Parks - Gordon- Franklin, Lake St Clair, Cradle Mountain, Freycinet etc. Tasmania has a unique landscape, and we were given an opportunity to explore it.
We had a lovely group of 18 people of mixed ages and nationalities, and that was another highlight for me. I enjoyed the backpacker experience, but if you are looking for five star accommodation this tour is not for you. We bought our own food, but were given the opportunity to buy fresh local oysters, amazing ice creams and Tasmanian baked goods. Even when it rained, our days were full of interest. “The ONLY way to see Tassie on a shoestring”

I'm a Sydney-sider and have been wanting to see firsthand whether this alien land across the Strait lives up to all the hype, so I booked the “Taste of Tasmania” tour with two days to spare and laced up my hiking boots. I wasn’t disappointed…
Despite the name and the ‘basic’ style of this trip, this tour is more than just a taste of Tassie – it’s an eye fillet steak. The best cut of the state. And, fortunately for our tour group, it was paired with a fine red wine in the form of an exceptional tour guide, Evan, whose knowledge, enthusiasm, sense of humour and good spirit were the perfect complement to round off each juicy morsel. He is easily the best tour guide I’ve ever travelled with.
Evan guided us through the various must-see attractions of Tassie, starting in Hobart and travelling north to the pristine wilderness of the Tarkine Forest (think fifty shades of GREEN) before moving along to get our hike on at Cradle Mountain, where there were different options for the varying fitness levels in our group. Other highlights included sunning and swimming at The Bay of Fires and hiking at Freycinet National Park (Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach). Again, this was all accompanied by insights from Evan, which is not something you would get on a self-guided tour.
Being in my thirties, and having left my dorm room days behind in my twenties, I was reluctant to return to this style of travelling, but the rooms were comfortable and cosy and accommodated a maximum of 6 people. We also had a great group of 15 people ranging in ages from 25 up to 61, which quickly eliminated any concerns I had about this being a young, Contiki-style tour.
I’d recommend this trip to anyone travelling solo or otherwise wanting to experience Tasmania's natural beauty and do some hiking. It is exceptional value for money, especially when you compare it to some of the other tours through Tasmania (most of which are over $2k).
I’ll definitely be back again soon for dessert!!!
Top tip: Make sure you pack lots of layers, a thick jacket, a beanie and a rain jacket! Tassie is COLD, even in summer.

We had an amazing time with Wombat (Gaz) as our guide, he was so knowledgeable about flora, fauna, history and the local attractions. I am so glad we chose this tour with motel upgrade, rather than try to drive ourselves and organise everything. There is no way we would have seen so much or covered so many kms by ourselves in such a short time. Its definitely a busy 5 days, but gave us such a good overview of the main attractions, and we will definitely be back to Tasmania.

We stopped frequently for activities so it wasn’t just driving on the bus - we’d rarely drive for more than an hour without a break which varied in length from short comfort breaks to hikes for a few hours. The landscape is beautiful and varies quite a bit as you drive around, so watching it while driving was nice, too.
We did some great hikes, saw gorgeous beaches, beautiful waterfalls, in lush green nature and saw a range of local wildlife (I was particularly fond of the adorable little wallabies). Other travellers have uploaded good pictures - it does look as lovely as that.
Evan, our guide, was fab. He knows his stuff, has oodles of energy and was a genuine pleasure to travel with. He made sure everyone was comfortable and had a good time, anticipating our needs before we knew we had them so everything went swimmingly.

Just finished the famous 5 tour around tassie. It was one of the best experiences I had in Australia so far. 24 of us on the bus. Met some great people and pir tourguide Matt was amazing. He told us so much about the places we drove past and we had a great time. Lots of lookouts and stunning views as well as gorgeous beaches. I wish the tour would have lasted a few days longer!

This was the first time I was travelling in a group tour as mostly in the past I have done only travelled as solo traveler or did a day tour. The experience from this tour has been so great that I am thinking of doing more such tours in future.
Keygan who had been our guide throughout this tour was very polite, humble, very knowledgeable, humorous and friendly. All the tour mates were very friendly and humorous. I made new friends which is great. The best thing about this tour with Under Down Under was that they had taken to places more than I expected and cost of your was reasonable. Apart from that, accommodation was good and everyone were very well taken care of.
Now I am back in Brisbane but feel like going back and doing the tour again. I would like to return to tour with Under Down Under in future.

Our tour guide Rachel is so nice and friendly. She is very knowledgeable about Tasmania. The tour itself is packed with adventures and really worth it considering the cheap price. I've met some awesome people of all ages in the tour which is a plus. Some parts of the tour felt a bit rushed and i feel like i didn't have enough time to take in the new places. The hostel at Launceston that we stayed at didn't have an accessible powerpoint in the room so that was pretty disappointing cause I had to use my powerbank to charge my phone but it wasn't enough for the next day. Other than that this tour is good value for money and you get to see a lot of Tasmania in 5 days.

Travis, our guide was amazing. His knowledge and insights of the places we visited was awesome, giving us tips and options along the way of towns , natural wonders we went too and was extremely helpful with any questions we had along time way. The places we stayed in where comfortable and the local communities we met along the where lovely. The group was great , some fab! connections made. I had a great week on this tour. We were able to cover alot of ground in a short time and see many beautiful locations. Lush rainforest, waterfalls, hikes, beach, and wildlife!
Had a great and varied bunch of people on the tour.
Accommodation at the hostels were good and comfortable.
Our guide Evan was amazing, and made sure everyone in the group was looked after. Knowledgeable and great at what he does, you can tell he really cares.

Under Down Under provided the perfect taster to my first Tassie trip. We saw and experienced so much that I could not have done it on my own. Our tour guide Courtney was exceptional! Given that she is a Tasmanian girl now living interstate, she had a wealth of knowledge but was also just as excited as we were to see the sites. Courtney gave us options and was always professional in her dealings with us and the broader community. While she must have been exhausted, she provided an outstanding and fun tour.

Before joining this tour, I hadn't expected that I would have such an amazing experience like this ! Although the weather wasn't good but I did enjoy the activities :D. Our driver was great as well ! His name is Sharby. He had a good sense of humor and took a good care of us. The accommodations of 4 nights were fine if compered to the price, it was reasonable ! We went to the 7 must-see Tasmania attractions. Wineglass bay and Cradle mountain are my favorite places ! The view is breathtaking and magnificent. If you look around everything is just like picturesque ! I couldn't stop taking pictures even if I took the same view hahaha. I love it so muchhh !! For those who are still thinking or hesitant to book this tour, I assure that you won't be regretted to explore Tasmania with Underdownunder !

For such a small place there are so many magical sights to see. It was great meeting new people not only on the tour, but the locals were always more than happy to have a chat. I found my tour guide (Sid) to be a wealth of awesome information and knowledge with the history, scenery and wildlife during my tour. I found the 5 day duration to be just right. After debating on whether I should have done something shorter, I'm glad I took this tour as it covered all major highlights.

We got a nice blend of outdoor activities like hiking and swimming in the morning and cook-ups and dinners in the evening. Jacob was extremely knowledgeable (fan of horticulture, trees, birds, pretty much anything) and always had a story or two to make the trip more eventful.

Completed the Super 7 tour in November 2021. Five of the seven days our group was with Ian. Ian was extremely professional and knowledgeable about every activity and hike we did on those five days. He put in his extra touch on every place we travelled to by first explaining the history of the place and how it linked with the previous activity. He also accommodated all of our additional requests. I had to make an important phone call on a packed day with limited reception and he was able to provide me a time and area for me to make that call. Furthermore, he helped the group immensely when deciding on what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I had a great time on this tour, especially at cradle mountain and wine glass bay. I would highly recommend under down under if you are looking for a way to explore most of Tasmania in an efficient way.

An amazing trip! Five days jampacked with Walks, Climbs, Lookouts, Waterfalls, Lakes, Beaches, Animals, Cruises, Tall Trees, History, Conservation, Fresh Produce, Wine, Theatre, Fine Dining... we did it all under the expert guidance of Ian Cordwell. Ian personalised the tour to individuals, which I, as the least fit member of the group, really appreciated. :) The days didn't end early for Ian- he was always available to make sure we were happy, and this was much appreciated. We couldn't be happier with our 5 Day Under Down Under Tour- thanks very much to a great local company for a fantastic Tassie Experience. Support them- they are awesome, and much, much better value than hiring a car!

This was one of the best backpacking trips I've done. The guide Matt was one of the main reasons why the whole trip went so well. Knowledgeable, humorous, and fun are a few words to describe him. The trip was well planned out with all the necessary arrangements in place. The stay at Strahan was truly memorable because of Bumpy. I met some wonderful people in the group, making the experience of the whole trip truly wonderful. I have recommended Under Down Under to other friends looking to make a trip to beautiful Tasmania.

We had an amazing time with Wombat (Gaz) as our guide, he was so knowledgeable about flora, fauna, history and the local attractions. I am so glad we chose this tour with motel upgrade, rather than try to drive ourselves and organise everything. There is no way we would have seen so much or covered so many kms by ourselves in such a short time. Its definitely a busy 5 days, but gave us such a good overview of the main attractions, and we will definitely be back to Tasmania.

We saw so much and had a great time. We chose the motel upgrade and the properties were good quality with comfy beds and 2/3 had toaster and crockery for Own breakfast. When we added up the cost of car hire, fuel, accommodation, park entries, plus time saving the tour was so worthwhile. Our guide Courtney was fantastic, always accommodating and helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Traveling with a mix of age groups and mostly Aussies (due to Covid) we all got along well. Highly recommend this option if you have limited time and want to see the highlights of Tassie. We will be back to see more in the future. Well done Under Down Under!

It’s probably the best way to explore Tassie! During the five days you get the chance to see the wide spectrum of Tasmania. You always have weather depending opportunities and even if it’s cold and rainy it’s still beautiful and definitely worth it! We have recently finished the famous 5 tour of Tasmania and had a great time on the trip. The tour is perfect for people to get a taste of Tasmania and see many of the different environments it has to offer. From the rainforests of the West coast to the Bush in Freycinet National Park the tour really has something for everyone and does a great job of catering to the different fitness levels of the people on the tour. Our tour guide Rick was fantastic as well, he was enthusiastic about the whole trip putting a smile on people's faces all the time as well as providing a great commentary about the areas we were visiting allow us to all learn something along the way. The accommodation on the trip was good as well especially the stay with Bumpy at Strahan Backpackers. Overall a great trip we would recommend to anyone.

Our tour guide, James, is super nice and friendly to everyone all the times. There are elders, hard listening people, and single traveler in our tour. We attends 5days tour. He is the guide and also the driver for 5 days. I feel the working hour is very long, but he treats everyone patiently always!!
The tour is well-organized and the stops are all the most famous sightseeing. The accommodation are all clean. Tour includes the breakfast. It saves our time to prepare in the morning. In the end of each day, James takes us to supermarket to buy food for the dinner and accommodations all have kitchen for use. Of course, it's easy to find restaurant around the accommodations if you are lazy to cook by yourself.
It's fun to travel with who are from a totally different background and age. Guide must be a plus in this tour!!

The tour is a little rush as you don't get too long in each location, it feels like a tick box exercise of the things to see in Tasmania. Some of the accommodation on the tour is interesting with quirky hostel managers and guidelines.
The tour guide (Storm) was very informative and thoughtful, making an effort to make sure everyone was ok and comfortable.

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to go to Tasmania! This tour goes both to the West and the East coast of the island, offering the most incredible scenery and views. This includes a lot of hiking, usually with a hard or easy option offered. There is also the option to go swimming at a lot of places, I highly recommend that!
The itinerary of the tour is great but what made the tour so awesome was our tour guide, Evan. He was very helpful, knowledgable and funny! A lot of driving and early mornings were involved but Evan somehow managed to always be in a good mood and he also provided us with some great tunes on those long drives.
Thanks Evan for making this tour the best one I have ever taken!

Homestly was the best tour I have done in Australia. Having done pretty much everything else Aus has to offer, the famous 5 tour of Tassie really gives you everything you want out of coming to the state. Climbing to the top of Cradle mountain was a personal highlight and swimming at every chance we got. Staying at Bumpys hostel for the first 2 nights really brought brought the whole group to together with how welcoming it was there. If anyone does this tour then make sure to get onto the one with Evan as your tour guide. Best tour guide I’ve had in Aus and is genuinely the coolest and most chill guy, more like a mate showing you around for 5 days and hanging out with you the whole time but also being so informative about all of Tasmania. Also he had some top jokes to dish out.

We took this wonderful tour with Matt Februar 14-18, 2019. We were picked-up at our hostel on time and we began our 5-day journey. The vehicle in which we drove around Tasmania was good although the space between seats was a bit slight for tall people, where the knees were in contact with the seat in front. For me was wonderful cause I'm 1,72 Mts. The hostels we stayed at varied but ranged from I'd say very good good. Sleeping and bathroom accommodations were all acceptable till good! The leader, Matt, was knowledgable and always friendly. The group, which ranged in age from 19-60, was fantastic! It was the best group of my trip to Australia; this tour was the longest of my trip, which might have made a difference in giving time for getting to know people better. The hikes provided wonderful opportunities to get in touch with each oder and to know them. Of course HIGHLIGHT was "Matt" our Guide, he was really gut informed and helpfully, he explained us each Name, Corner and way we are very happy about this opportunity to know Tasmania with a very professional and top Tourist guide. We will of course highly recommend this tour to all the people we meet.

Rick was a wonderful tour guide, he made our trip so fun and I ended up making so much friends.
The hostels were great as well. Safe and close to the centre.

I just came back from the Famous 5 (5 Days) Tour. IT WAS TASMAZING!!! I have done lots of tours in Australia already and this was honestly one of my favourites! Tasmania itself is just beautiful. We saw parts of the west coast and also the most important spots on the East Coast. I really liked that we had plenty of time at each of the spots so we were flexible. There was the chance to do lots of hikes and everyone could choose a hike that suited personally. The breakfast was included, not lunch or dinner. But at each spot was the possibility to purchase groceries at the supermarket to prepare a cheap meal in the accomodation (and plenty of options to dine out). Thanks Under Down Under for this awesome experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

“Wish I could have stayed longer”

It feels like a lifetime ago! But it was a great trip - I only
wish that I had been able to stay for longer and actually this was a
mistake, I should have done the whole 8 day tour.
Ian, our tour leader was exceptional and really made the difference. I
guess he works for your partner in Tasmania? His knowledge and kindness
and humour but also his leadership in getting things done and on time -
all exceptional. It was great fun. The small vehicles were great too. I
would highly recommend the tour.
My only feedback would be that the cost of the single supplement seemed
too high and I know that this was a grievance felt by several of us on
the tour. I am 45 years old and a seasoned traveller and spent many
years staying in hostels and low budget accommodation. I have no issues
whatsoever with doing so and the accommodation on this tour was
perfectly adequate. I didn't take the single supplement offered at time
of booking as it was so expensive. However, one night I upgraded myself,
as there was a serious snorer in my group and the simple single room
that the YHA host gave me cost an extra $20 - seemed super reasonable.
We realised that in many of the places we stayed in that this would have
been the case. In Launceston one of my fellow travellers was very angry
as the prices she had paid for her single supp upgrade as it would have
been much cheaper to go directly to the hostel and get the upgrade that
way. I would use you again if this were the case but in fact some of the
options I have looked at give me a single supplement at lower prices.

We were a bit older than the other travellers. We have been on tours with the fancy upmarket stuff with somebody looking after you every step of the way.
Our tour guide Robert was entertaining (dry laconic wit) knowledgable, and caring.
Our fellow travellers were representative of our neighbouring countries, diverse backgrounds and ages.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will stay in touch with some of our travelling companions.
The only negative comment would be that the transport provided has more comfortable seating with back pockets for storage of water bottles etc whilst on the move.

I had a wonderful trip to Tasmania - I really loved it. I had a great tour group and all of us had lots of laughs! Weather was superb with the day we were at Cradle mountain at about 30°C! You can't ask for better!
I don't really have any feedback to offer because I really thought the tour was well run i guess if you had to twist my arm i didn't realize i could do day tours with you guys out of Hobart - so the only thing i could offer is that on your tour advice page when you state we start in Hobart if you could have links to your day tours to like Port Aurther and the day trip down to MONA - and you know you might already have that it could be i didn't look closely enough!
But otherwise our tour guide was great (Leith) he had great knowledge was happy to chat to all of us and answer questions. Accommodation was mostly great. Tasnmania was beautiful! I'd def score it 4 out of 5 - and the only reason i didn't give it a 5 out of 5 was probably Launceston accommodation - and it wasn't terrible it could just do with a little updating - it was really hot and stuffy (not really their fault just summer and a hot day that didn't much cool down at night - rare i'd say for Launceston!) and i thought the bathrooms were a little under the weather - and we didn't have a microphone in the bus which did mean sometimes it was hard to hear Leith when giving instruction in the bus but it wasn't really an issue as he would always make sure we knew what we were doing and seeing and if we asked questions he was really good about answering them and everything - so it wasn't an issue but just as an overall feedback.

The trip was fantastic and I would score it 4.5.
Every thing was great, but for the meals and accommodation. It seems that no chances to enjoy famous Tasmania seafood in a proper restaurant there and that’s a pity for me.
If the accommodation could be a Twin-bed shared room, not bunk bed dorm, that would be great, too. No one wants to sleep in the top bunk apparently. There is an old gentleman,73 from Japan who is forced to sleep in the top bunk because the young guy in our tour didn’t want to go to the top. Or, if the dorm could be no bunk beds, that would be also much better.
I definitely will go to Tassie again because there are still so many other beautiful places to explore!

Loved the tour! I ended up adding on an extra day last minute and regretted the fact that I had to catch a flight after that because I would have loved to stay on for the last two days of the tour as well. Paddy was an excellent guide, I learned a lot, made a bunch of friends and had lots of fun.

The tour was allot of fun. We had A combination of A great guide (Bruce) and A fun group. The days were well spend and full of cool things. We recommend this tour to anyone that goes to tassie. The hostel of the 3e night was not so great. A huge kitchen but no supplies to make anything. ( like pots, pans and silverwear)
i dont know if you guys give out any prices for like "best guide" but if you do, i will nominate Bruce A 100%. Goodluck with future tours.

The trip was great! I give a score 3 out of 5. Unfortunately I think more meals can be include, at least the first lunch, the only place where we can eat for this lunch is pretty expensive (around $10 for just a sandwich), and it’s a bad start for a trip. Otherwise the bbq was yummy, the guide nice and walks and landscapes amazing!! Also, I expected only people aged from 18 to 40, but we went only a few young people it's made 2 groups in the group it’s a pity.

The tour is great. My friends and I enjoyed the trip very much.
But one thing i would like to make a compliant. From the information on your website, it is a small group tour with maximum 16 people. But come out it was 24 people group tour. Then the 25p Car is comparatively small, with 24 people plus tour guide driver, 25 seats were fully occupied. It was very uncomfortable, especially for those big, tall and long legs.

I enjoyed the Tasmanian tour with my friend. I was just surprised how much travelling and sitting in the bus was involved. Or I may have underestimated the seize io the island. So I would suggest to give a notice in future.
