See MapCape Tribulation is where the world’s oldest continually surviving tropical rainforests, meet the world’s greatest living tropical reef, the Great Barrier Reef. Nowhere else on earth do two natural World Heritage listed sites exist side by side. Discover the beauty and wonder of Cape Tribulation on this full day tour with Indigenous Experience at Mossman Gorge.
Commence the adventure with a scenic coastal drive from Cairns to Port Douglas. This is the far north’s very own great ocean road and provides panoramic views over the sparkling Coral Sea. Heading north our first stop is at Mossman Gorge, which is in the southern sector of the world famous Daintree National Park. This gorge has been carved out by the cold mountain waters of the Mossman River, which winds through large granite boulders, bordered by lush green rainforest. It’s a magical place and you’ll participate in a “Welcome to Country” with the traditional owners, the Kuku Yalanji people, who will also cleanse you of evil spirits with a smoke ceremony. Following this there’s an opportunity for you to enjoy a refreshing swim in the cascading waters (weather permitting) or enjoy a rainforest walk.
Continuing north we board a wildlife spotting cruise on the Daintree River, keep an eye out for the many resident crocodiles, before crossing the river and heading to Cape Tribulation for lunch. Enjoy lunch at Turtle Rock Cafe located only 400m from the beach, before exploring this region on foot with a guided tour of the ancient rainforest environment along the Marrdja Botanical Boardwalk. Our highly trained guides will give you expert rainforest interpretation, which will inform and impress.
Be amazed at the huge diversity you will encounter, everything from low lying ferns and shrubs, to the massive rainforest canopy and even mangrove ecosystems all in one short easy walk. Next stop is the Daintree Ice Cream Co where you have the option to enjoy one of their delicious organically grown ice-creams with an exotic range of tropical flavours available including dragonfruit, coconut, black sapote, lychee and many more. Yum! [At own cost.]
We stop for a photo opportunity at the Alexandra Range Lookout (Walu Wugirriga), which provides sweeping views over the Daintree River, its rainforest delta and out to the Coral Sea - pop this on your Insta profile!
Then it’s back on to the bus for the return journey to Cairns, including a quick drive through Port Douglas, a picturesque beachside village with a laid back vibe and loads of bars and cafes.

What should I pack?

What immunisations do I need?
For the latest information on immunisations, we strongly recommend you or contact the Travellers Medical and Vaccination Centre (www.traveldoctor.com.au) to discuss health requirements for your trip. They will advise you about appropriate inoculations.
Do I need to take any medical supplies?
It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.
Do I need a sleeping bag?
For all camping tours require you to have a sleeping bag. If you don't have one they may be available for hire via the "join tour" button.
How fit do I need to be?
Our tours are made to be fun, informative and active and can be enjoyed by anyone with a moderate degree of fitness and agility. Travellers should be comfortable with hiking/walking up to 5km each day.
Do I need travel insurance?
Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended. Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.
Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?
You can use your mobile while touring in Australia or New Zealand, but coverage may be limited in remote areas. For best connectivity, consider purchasing a local SIM card or an international roaming plan.

Booking the trip
Do I have to book this tour online?
Definitely not. Our website is designed to make is easy and convenient for you to schedule your tour. However we understand sometimes its nice to talk to someone directly. So by all means give us a call and we can organise your trip over the phone.
If I book more than one tour can I get a discount?
Absolutely! If you are booking multiple tours then we may be able to offer you a discount. Send us an email at info@lostinaustralia.org and let us know what you thinking of doing and we can put together a price for you.Also, be sure to look out for monthly specials on tours. We often have some great bargains.
How do I know when a tour is available?
You can check the departure dates of tours by using our calendar on the top right hand corner of the tour page. This will tell you what days the tour departs. For availability of seats please contact us directly at info@lostinaustralia.org or call us.
Does the tour price include flights?
No. Tour prices do not include any travel arrangements other than for the duration of the tour itself. If you need assistance with booking flights or buses our travel team and certainly help - Just ask!
How far in advance do I need to book my tour?
As a rule of thumb we generally say AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to departure, this will usually get you a seat on the date you want. That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible. Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. If you know when you'd like to travel, please contact us and we will let you know if you need to book soon or if you have time.
If I make a deposit only, when will I need to pay the balance?
Balance on tours need to be paid at least 30 days prior to departure. Failure to do so could result is the cancellation of your seat with a fee charged. If you need more time to clear your balance then let us know ASAP and arrangements can be made.
Who travels with us
Is this tour for me?
Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 49, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings. As always, if in doubt then contact us directly with your concerns.
Cost and Fees
What does "Paid Locally" mean?
Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.
Will I need additional money?
Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.
Do I need to tip our guide?
If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary and is not at all expected.
Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?
Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.

We can certain cater for most dietary needs. Please advise us at the time of your booking so arrangements can be made. For travellers with more extreme diets we may ask that you bring along additional snacks.

This tour is incredible and absolutely worth the time and money. Our tour guide Andy was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and was on hand to answer any of our questions throughout the day.
The food at the restaurant was incredible quality and portion size, and the post lunch swim in the creek was a real highlight.
Spotting Scarface the croc in the river was a great experience.

Andy our guide was so clear and knowledgable , we saw a cassowary and a saltie. The drive up the coast is stunning, the organisation of the day is great and easy. Andy showed us so many cool bugs and plants and delivered on the mega fauna . Take a poncho or prepare to get wet - we loved getting soaked in a prehistoric rainforest . A totally top day out

Our tour guide Kevin was excellent!
He is passionate about the environment and respectful of the Indigenous culture.
We were introduced to both on this tour to the Daintree rainforest and Cape Tribulation.
Kevin also introduced us to the extensive flora and fauna and the roll they play in keeping the balance in the rainforest.
We had lunch at a lovely restaurant and escaped the heat with a dip at a swimming hole.

What a packed day we had exploring the wonderful rain forest and surrounding area. The cruise down the Daintree River was great and even in the rain we saw a croc and lots of baby crocs. It rained pretty much the entire day but it didn’t spoil it, I think it just made the experience more authentic. We had done this trip before at another time of the year, it was lovely to see it in the wet season, so green and lush. A special bonus was seeing so many 2 week old baby crocodiles in the wilderness. Our driver/guide Daniel was knowledgeable and friendly which made for a great trip all round. We took the Daintree Rainforest tour with our guide/driver, Graeme. The tour was great! Graeme did a wonderful job providing commentary about what we were seeing and history as we went along. Throughout the tour, he pointed out multiple local plants and insects along the way. The stop at the ice cream place was wonderful, getting to try a sampler of four different flavors.

Amazing tour!! Started with a pickup right at my hotel and then a drive up to get some refreshments and hop on a boat down the river. Our boat captain had an eagle eye and pointed out multiple baby crocs on the banks and even one big mama croc, which we never would’ve caught with our untrained eyes! Then back to our group to walk through the jungle and finish with some super good ice cream. Dan, our driver, was so awesome!! He was funny and incredibly knowledgeable about all the plant and animal life we encountered. This tour was originally a time filler for me but I’m so thankful I did it. 100% worth your time and money!!

Had a fantastic time, our guide was very knowledgeable on the rain forest, plants and animals. He also spoke about the local indigenous peoples of the area and some information on their culture and history. Lunch was very tasty. Bus was comfortable and air-conditioned. Long day so definitely bring water and snacks. Plenty of toilet stops also in case anyone was concerned (like I was) so no need to worry. If you're unlucky enough to be someone who gets targeted by mosquitos be sure to bring bug spray!

My mother and I had a great day out in the Daintree, in spite of some delays due to road works. Our guide, Gavin, looked after us very well and showed his love for the places we visited. We did a reverse itinerary so that the tide was lower for seeing crocodiles in the afternoon. I very much enjoyed the walk through the mangrove swamp, there was lots to see. The views at Cape Tribulation were beautiful. The lunch was very nice and at a pretty location. Overall, it was a really good day out

Other reviews capture the tour well but this tour was indeed fantastic. A long, but definitely not boring, day that was spent exploring river ways, board works and eating well! Graeme was an incredible guide who had vast knowledge in everything! A caring and informative guide who kept the long bus ride from Cairns interesting. G helped us to spot both baby and adult crocs, insects and a Cassowary and made an effort to point out the best bathroom stops along the way. Billy Tea overall were well organized and well respected by the Daintree community. I would highly recommend this tour to both tourists locally and from overseas who have an interest in learning about our beautiful Australian flora and fauna!

Rowan our tour guide was professional & informative. He provided a clear breakdown of the days itinerary & ensured everyone on board was comfortable with the day ahead.
The tour itself was exceptional. The tour covers so many areas in one day. The caves were spectacular as well as the indigenous rock art. The lunch & morning tea which were included were delicious. If you’re looking to see more of the outer regions of Cairns & experience some of the Australian outback I highly recommend this tour. Rowan was an amazing guide as well.

Destinations and guide were top notch! AJ was extremely knowledgeable and beyond friendly; he’ll take great care of you. The views are breathtaking and if you’re lucky like we were, you’ll even see a cassowary or two! Lunch was delicious and be sure to wear a bathing suit so you don’t miss the opportunity to swim in the rainforest stream afterwards. Please note the ride there and back is extremely rough in the vehicles they have and you’ll be jarred pretty hard, so be prepared.

Consider adding more time at the coffee plantation 10 minutes for a walk on the grounds, and including 10 minutes on Aboriginal contributions to your excellent historical information provided. Great trip to the Outback with Mike who was extremely knowleable. We would have liked more information about Skybury cafe our first stop which was great, the lunch at the Aussue Outback pub was very basic and we didn't really like the feeding of the wild wallabies at Granite Creek but all in all it was an excellent day out.

We had a great day learning about the Daintree Rainforest, wildlife, flora and fauna. Our tour guide James and the guide on the boat trip were knowledgeable and made the trip interesting with a sense of humour, lots of local knowledge also shared. We saw several crocs, cassowary, bats, crabs, spiders and the elusive peppermint stick insects. Fab day out, thank you. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful day in the Daintree Rainforest. Our guide and driver Daniel showed us all there was, plus he did a great job driving and he truly went out of his way to make sure we were ok. The experience was worthwhile and we had a lovely lunch together. The trip was long and those bus seats are not comfortable or adjustable. That would be my only con of the experience.

Incredible Day with Mr. G and Billy Tea Safaris!
Our tour with Billy Tea Safaris was truly unforgettable. Mr. G was an exceptional guide—funny, informative, and full of great stories that brought the Daintree Rainforest to life. We loved the river cruise spotting crocodiles, the peaceful walk through the rainforest, and the refreshing swim in the freshwater stream. The billy tea and damper experience was a lovely touch. Everything was well-organized and relaxed. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!

There were more stops than advertised, an unexpected stop to see wild wallabies, a beach/toilet stop when picking up some other people. There was also an ice cream stop, delicious homemade on fruit farm.
We enjoyed our day so much we wanted to book one of their other trips!

Very good tour. The cruise on Daintree river was amazing. Saw many crocodiles & many birds. The rainforest walk was outstanding. Got to see lot of wildlife & trees that we had not heard of. The beaches that we visited were marvelous.
The final stop at the fruit farm gave us a chance to taste many new Ice Cream flavours.

Wonderful tour! Daniel was bang on time, incredibly friendly and funny as well as knowledgable, answering any and all questions we threw at him.
The tour was the perfect combo of activities, cramming in some highlights like seeing big crocs, walking through the daintree and visiting cape Tribulation. My highlight was swimming in the freshwater creek, it was a perfect refreshing break in the day.

We were collected by our guide Brett. On time, professional, courteous and very knowledgeable.
The Daintree Rainforest tour, Daintree River tour, lunch at Heritage Lodge, Cape Tribulation tour and ice cream were wonderful.
It was a long day and did feel a little rushed at some of the stops . We covered 350kms for the day. It would’ve been lovely to enjoy a longer stay at the Heritage Lodge waterhole for the swim as 30 mins definitely not enough time to change, get down to the creek, have a dip/swim before having our lunch.
So much information was imparted by Brett of the past and present for these areas…. loved it! . So in awe of the oldest rainforest in the world! Quite spectacular really!
Lunch at the Heritage Lodge was great , simple food done well. We had the steak which was cooked well.
During the safari bus ride we were kept comfortably cool and the seating was also comfy. Though it might be just a safari bus thing, but definitely could’ve done with better suspension as it was a really bumpy ride.

Great trip but a long one - 7am pick up & nearly 7pm drop off.
Had a bit of adventure when the river cruise boat struck a submerged log but it was all handled very professionally.
Lunch was ok, didn't go for a swim as it was cold & rainy.
Unfortunately it rained while we did our rainforest walk & again on the beach walk. Interesting info on the rainforest walk though.

The Daintree rainforest tour was our highlight with a combo of activities. The tour was outstanding, informtive, educational and fun. It was a good pace through the beach of Cape Tribulation, the informative history of the amazing Daintree Rainforest, the deliciious lunch at beautiful Heritage Lodge (with excellent friendly service), the Crocodile Boat spotting in the river (we saw 2 on the beach and one REALLY large one), the live small Cassowary, the Unique Ice Cream with the interesting fruit trees and the Mossan Gorge walk. All four adults really enjoyed the journey.

Wow. Simply wow. Rowan was our guide / driver and he was simply amazing. It is a long drive from Cairns to the Daintree but the truck is quite comfortable and Ro made it seem short - he is very knowledgeable about the Daintree and gave us a ton of info about the rainforest, the creatures that live there, the weather (cyclone Jasper, getting 6 meters of rain annually). After all the buildup, the Daintree did not disappoint. It is amazing. Cape Tribulation was really cool, the river cruise was great (and we got to see Scarface, the dominant male saltwater croc on that section of the river).

A top experience in the Port Douglas area. While snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef is obvious, do NOT miss seeing Daintree NP. They picked me up in Port Douglas, and our group had a great day seeing crocodiles on a river trip, eating a delicious lunch in the rain forest, swimming in a cold clear creek, and seeing Cape Tribulation. The best was the terrific guiding of AJ - everywhere along the way, and especially on the boardwalk through the rainforest. He is infectiously positive about this area and told us many interesting facts and stories about animals, plants, and history. We had Daintree ice cream (a dish with 4 flavors!) and a fantastic time together as a group.

I travel extensively, and I’m not usually a huge fan of organized tours. However, every so often, I decide to let someone else handle the planning so I can sit back and relax. And I’m glad I did this time! This was a fantastic experience from start to finish, and I believe what truly made it special was the tour guide—Ronan or Rowan (I’m not sure of the correct spelling).
He was a wealth of information that I found genuinely interesting, and at no point during this full-day tour did I feel bored.

The tour with Rowen as a guide was an impressive, diverse and extremely interesting experience. Rowen not only made the tour knowledge-rich, but also demonstrated a gift for being responsive to our needs and breaking the ice quickly. Rowen had an insightful answer to every question and set the mood with a lot of humor.
This tour left lasting impressions that I will never forget. Rowen always clearly explained next steps and kept the route transparent so we always knew what was coming next. As a solo traveler, I quickly felt immersed in the world and history of Chillagoe and the Australian bushland. It was not only a lot of fun, but also an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the locality.

The tour with Billy Tea to the Daintree Forest was an absolute highlight! We took a relaxing boat trip and saw crocodiles in the wild - really impressive! Lunch in the middle of the rainforest was delicious, and the swimming area right next to it was perfect for a refreshment. The guided walk through the rainforest was informative and beautiful, then there was a detour to Cape Tribulation and the ice cream at the end was a great bonus. I can only recommend this tour – a unique experience in beautiful nature!

We had a wonderful day with Billy Tea Safaris in the Daintree National Park. Our guide Rowan did everything to ensure that we had an informative and well-organised day. The stops were well chosen, right at the beginning we started with a comfortable river cruise, where we were able to spot several crocodiles and even a baby crocodile. After lunch, we had the opportunity to swim in a freshwater hole (without crocodiles, of course ;)), which was a highlight. On the Madja Boardwalk that followed, we were able to marvel at the different plants and finally, of course, Cape Tribulation Beach, where the rainforest meets the reef. On the way back we actually saw two cassowaries at the side of the road! To top it all off, we had ice cream from the Daintree Ice Cream Company - we can highly recommend this tour!

ust finished a tour of the dandtree rainforest and it was amazing. Andy our guide made the day with is vast genuine knowledge of everything we came across from the local history to every animal and plant we came across and his eagle eyes saw multiple cassuary's which give the most magical feeling too see, aswell as many different insects and other animals. The crocodile boat trip was also amazing seeing lots of them.

Billy Tea Safaris by far offered us the absolute best Chillagoe Caves and Outback tour. Cassy (the transport 4WD) was awesome, Rowen was an outstanding guide (although I see from multiple reviews that all the guides appear to be just as great), with loads of knowledge and an awesome sense of humour. There was so much information provided all day, and the coffee stop at Mareeba was gorgeous and delicious. Lunch was also delicious and the ride to the outback spectacular. Will book this tour again with this company. Well done and thank you for the most awesome day!

We had the pleasure of joining Graeme for a tour of the Daintree Rainforest today. We've had a thoroughly interesting day and we enjoyed every minute. Graeme was friendly, polite, respectful and very knowledgeable, and clearly very passionate about all of the plants, insects and animals in the rainforest and surrounding areas. The van was very well maintained, air conditioned, comfortable and felt very safe. The locations we visited were stunning, food was excellent and the coffee too. This tour was well-organized and a fantastic way to see the rainforest and other parts of the Daintree area. The tour guides were kind, knowledgeable, and punctual. They made sure everything ran according to schedule (very important for those of us who plan other activities around our scheduled tours), and they approached their explanations with a good sense of humor and a clear love for what they do and the nature that surrounds them. The lunch and ice cream were also delicious!

Went on the Chillagoe tour today. There were 8 of us so it felt pretty laidback and well paced. Our guide, AJ, was knowledgeable and easygoing. The itinerary was as described. The lunch was surprisingly good (not one of those crappy packed lunch you typically get on tours but real, hot meal) and even a coffee and light breakfast were included at the beginning of the day. It was a personal and memorable day trip overall. I have 2 more tours booked with them.

We have had the best day yesterday!! We did the Daintree Rainforest tour which was amazing, our guide Gavin had so much knowledge about all the animals and trees and the surroundings and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. We saw crocodiles, snakes, spiders and two cassowaries! We did a lot of tours during our holidays in Australia but this was definitely the best one!

Basically the tour was well run and informative but there is no need for a four wheeler as the roads are now made and the ride was terrible and very uncomfortable. The 9 hour tour includes 5hours plus of driving and should be avoided by anyone with back issues. We were so pleased when the tour ended our discomfort was extreme . Our lunch although enjoyable was in an outdoor area not in the main dining rooms and the salad component was already plated and in the heat 20 plus minutes before we received our meal .
Overall we were disappointed with the tour transport and would not consider another tour

Unfortunately, this tour was very disappointing. I understand the Daintree Forest is far (about 2.5 hours drive each way), but considering the travel time, I expected a more fulfilling experience. The itinerary promised a 45-minute walk in the forest, but the guide rushed us through a short boardwalk without any real effort to engage or share information. It felt like a parade rather than a nature walk—we would have gotten more out of reading the signs ourselves.
Additionally, the swimming spot, which was supposed to be 30 minutes, didn’t happen at all. When we arrived at Cape Tribulation, instead of accompanying us like other guides did, ours just told us to come back in 20 minutes. It felt like there was no interest in making the experience worthwhile.
The speaker system on the bus didn’t work, making it impossible to hear any of the commentary. And the final stop was a rushed trip to get ice cream, with barely a minute to use the restroom before we were back on the bus. Overall, the tour felt disorganized and uninformative. I would not recommend it and feel like I wasted my money.

Great company and tour. The forest and nature are simply breathtaking. We saw a crocodile and a cassowary up close! My only regret is that the guide wasn’t really a guide—just a driver. Since I was on my own, I would have appreciated having someone to point out and explain interesting things along the way. That’s why I occasionally joined another group from Billy Safari, who seemed incredibly passionate.

Rowan our driver was able to tell us about the area, the forest, eco systems, Mossman and history.
I certainly would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the crocodiles, forest and ice cream .
We stopped at a beautiful resort for lunch in the middle of the forest had the best natural made ice cream and all with a lovely tour bus.

Bloody awesome tour with so many great experiences from 7am to 6pm, Daintree, Cape Trib & Mossman gorge in a day from Cairns!
Tony was the best, fantastic commentary and crafted a great experience despite itinerary changes due to several closures whilst repair works continue after cyclone Jasper December last year.
Daintree cruise was a highlight with numerous crocs seen and great commentary by the skipper.
Lunch in the rainforest restaurant was rustic and delicious.
Thanks Tony and team for a wonderful experience we will never forget!

We did the 1 day Chillagoe and Outback tour from Cairns with the brilliant Gav and had the most amazing day. Was fascinating to be driven through so many different landscapes and biodiversities in one day and Gav had a wealth of knowledge that made the bus journey fly by. From coffee and papaya in Mareeba to the Chillagoe caves to the most adorable wild rock wallabies, I truly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about this beautiful part of the world and having a great time doing it!

Bit of a mixed review from us! Our tour guide was Gavin and he was running late due to mix up with pick up (no biggy). He seemed a little flustered but we left Trinity Beach and headed North on the 4wd truck and our first stop was Mossman for a quick bathroom stop and to grab a coffee at the cafe if we wanted. Thinking we had morning tea included we didn't bother with a coffee and waited. We did the Ferry Crossing and had a long wait on the other side due to roadworks, but this was out of Gavins control. Waiting inside the truck was very hot.
By this stage my back was very sore from the long drive. First stop was the ice cream place (yum) which we thought was later in the day and had no morning tea. No problem for us but our 9 year old doesn't eat ice cream due to car sickness. Nothing else was offered and unfortunately there was nothing else available to purchase. Next stop a 20-30 min stop at the Beach and back on the bus to do the 30 min Daintree boardwalk Unfortunately didn't feel like we got told much at this stop after watching other guides from the same company. We had a very hangry kid by this stage so she was keen for us to get to the lunch stop. 1.30-2pm was our chosen lunch from the menu with fruit,tea or coffee. It was beautiful and worth the wait. We were able to swim in the fresh water hole, but it was very short in and out and back on the truck. We headed back to the Daintree river and did our boat tour with the guide Nick who was awesome! Shared lots of knowledge about the river, mangroves and wildlife and got us into some right areas to find a crocodile . He even gave info on the Thornton Peak Mountain he was very knowledgeable. We then hopped off his boat we were offered a cuppa tea and biscuit before the long trip back home.

You get to see a large part of the coast and it is beautiful but we couldn't see much in the back of the truck.

We got picked up late and that seemed to affect our day as it felt rushed for the whole day and chasing to make up time.
We were seated at the back of the bus hard to see and very uncomfortable and hurt my back from the bouncing around for the next few days. Don't recommend if you have back issues.
Boardwalk was not very inspiring and I thought we would be walking more, and exploring the forest moree. I would suggest comfortable walking sandals rather then shoes which are more practical for the beach and walk down to the water hole.
It wasn't all bad but because of our late start I felt like our tour was in a different order to what was advertised and we were always rushed to catch up on time. I would have missed either the beach walk or Daintree to spend more time at the water hole if I had a choice.
My daughter ranked it 9/10 my partner 8/10 and personally with my sore back no morning tea I ranked it 7/10. Overall we give it a 3.5 but I personally I wouldn't do the tour again as it was more time driving then walking and exploring the forest which is what we hoped for. That's our personal experience so hopefully others found it differently.

The tour guide was outstanding, offering deep knowledge about the local history, wildlife, and Indigenous culture. What a day! Pick up a breeze. The bus very comfortable. Rowan, tour guide, very informative and entertaining! The whole itinerary full on with lapses of 'rest times' in bus. Morning Tea fantastic. The caves amazing as well as Ranger Ash. Lunch yummy. Smelters something I've never seen before and as mentioned before, Rowan knows his stuff. The rock wallabies well worth seeing. walking up to Balancing Rock was challenging for me, but Rowan was encouraging and I made it! All in all a 10/10 for this tour. Simply the best!

We did a really great tour of the rainforest with this provider. Every stop was a highlight: you could see crocodiles on the boat trip, there was a varied selection of food at the included lunch, the walk through the rainforest was interesting and the stop at Cape Trib was a wonderful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip my favourite bit was definitely swimming in the creek. Going to cape tribulation beach was a very good sight to see and it was enjoyable going for a walk along it. The tour guide we had was amazing and provided a lot of information which allowed us to more gain knowledge about everything we saw during the day. We booked a 2 day tour with Billy Tea. 1st day was the Daintree tour and the second was the reef snorkel.
10/10 recommend. They were helpful and professional when booking and understanding and accommodating when we needed to adjust the booking.
The Daintree tour was fantastic. Highly recommend for nature lovers.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave alot more understanding and depth to the tour. We stopped at multiple locations along the way to be able to see some of the highlights in the area such as a crodile tour cape tribulation, and some lookouts which helped to break up the drive, nicely.
Half way lunch was provided and the day finished perfectly with home made icecream, from one of the local fruit farms.

Rohan at Billy Tea Safaris is the best! We had him as our guide today on the Chillagoe Caves & Outback Tour. I love his enthusiasm for Australian nature, his seemingly endless knowledge about geology and history, and his energetic approach to his tour guiding craft. He was timely, patient, professional, funny, and very easygoing. He even translated all of the metric units in the day (e.g. kilometers, celsius, etc.) to imperial units (e.g. miles, Fahrenheit, etc.) to make it easier for our coincidentally all-American bus. Not even just measurement units - when we asked what is the difference between a wallaby and a kangaroo, he made a very clever comparison for us Americans which was that the family of kangaroos is similar to the family of deer that we are so familiar with in the US. For example, a red kangaroo is like a moose, Eastern grey kangaroo is like an elk, etc.
He made every moment of the day exciting for us - whether that was stopping on the side of the road when we cheerily witnessed our first wallaby sightings, showing us the nests green ants made in trees, or telling us funny stories about what previous passengers have left on the bus (you would not believe some of the things folks have forgotten!). To top it all off, Rohan even had a fun creative game for us to play with prizes during the 1.5 hour car ride back into town from the Outback, and it was definitely a unique one that I had never played before that I thoroughly enjoyed.
All in all, a wonderful day spent that was not part of our original itinerary (we pivoted our plans due to the flooding in Cairns) but honestly could have not asked for a better vacation day or a better tour guide. Thank you for the wonderful experience, Rohan! Highly recommend!
P.S. My favorite part of the tour was hand-feeding the wallabies some (safe and natural) pellets and seeing the little joeys pop out of their mommy's pouches. :)

The only fault was with the comfort of the trip.
The 4WD vehicle is great for temperature but has the worst designed suspension of any vehicle I have been in. This made for a very uncomfortable long day even on smooth tar roads. Any bump in the road was multiplied when travelling in the rear of the vehicle. I don’t think the guide would notice as he would have an air suspension seat up front.
This is something that needs to be sorted when spending such a long day in the vehicle with 2 hours between stops.
All passengers noticed how rough the trip was.

Gavin was a funny, entertaining, and passionate guide as he drove us to various parts of the Daintree rainforest. He worked so hard to give us as many animal and nature experiences as he could despite the recent cyclone devastation. He knew so much about unique species native to the area, both animal and tree species. He also gave great advice on the local Cairns markets and tropical fruits. The lunch provided was so delicious and fresh. The ice cream consisted of natural, one-of-a-kind flavors and was a great touch to the overall experience. To say that we tried a native plant used centuries ago by the Indigenous population (i.e., wattleseed) - how cool!

10/10! Absolutely incredible day out with Billy Tea Safaris Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest Tour. Rowan (Ro) was fun, knowledgeable and the perfect tour guide. He provided fascinating insights into the region’s ecology, history and Indigenous culture. His enthusiasm and expertise brought a whole new level of appreciation for the world’s most beautiful forest, as described by David Attenborough! Everything about the day exceeded our expectations.
Initially we were going to drive to the Daintree ourselves but we are now so glad that we didn’t because we didn’t just drive in and out of the forest, we really got to know about it. Plus driving those narrow windy roads would not be enjoyable.
Added bonus - it works out better value to do the tour because everything is included - ferry fare to enter the Daintree, boat cruise, morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea including awesome icecream from the Daintree Ice Cream Company.

My husband and I did the 3 day reef, rainforest, and outback tour, and really feel that it helped us make the most of our time in Cairns. Skipper Mike and Deck Supervisor Kiki aboard the Evolution were great hosts, and Skipper Mike even invited us into the bridge and gave us his tips about local places to stop on our way down the coast. Our guide for the outback and rainforest days was Gav. We cannot say enough amazing things about him. Incredibly knowledgeable about all things Australia, and such a great conversationalist. Beyond the nonstop learning, he also went above and beyond SEVERAL times on our tours by showing us hidden gem spots or asking if we wanted to do a little extra excursion. My husband and I wish we could just hire him to take us down the rest of the Australian coast for the rest of our honeymoon. Thanks a million to this team!

We took the Chillagoe Caves and Outback Day trip with Billy Tea Safaris and absolutely loved it!!! It was a great way to see the outback while staying in Cairns and our guide Tony was very knowledgeable. The morning tea with fresh papaya was AMAZING! And learning about the mining and agricultural history of the area was very interesting. We really liked the AC in the van considering it was over 90°F when we were there!! Trekking through the caves and various walks around the area was also very memorable. The highlight for us was feeding the wallabys!!! Definitely recommend the outback tour for anyone staying in Cairns that wants to experience the outback in a day!!

We did the bus tour to the Daintree and really enjoyed it. Tony, our guide, was very welcoming and provided us with an interesting commentary as we drove along. It's a busy tour so you don't get to stay very long in any one spot but you cover a lot of ground and see such a lot!
Lunch was good and the ice-cream stop in the afternoon was exceptional.
All the admin was spot on too.

This is the second time I have used Billy Tea Safaris to visit the Daintree Rainforest, this time I went with my family as I had enjoyed it so much back in 2018. The itinerary had to be altered as a result of Cyclone Jasper a few months ago, but Andy, our driver, made the day exceptional with his knowledge and took us to Mossman Gorge as the road was closed to the Tribulation Cape.

Gavin was awesome, knew every question we asked and really made the day fly by. It’s a bit of a long drive distance wise but the choices of being able to get out and hike a bit really made it easier. He tried hard to make sure we could see all the animals possible and did a great job educating and entertaining.

Today is a learning day for me. I have never been to the rainforest before. It looks so mysterious and natural. All the plants and wild animals are not easy to touch and see. It's so amazing! Our tour guide is so funny and responsible, he explains very well.

I did the Chillagoe Caves and Outback tour and I literally had the best day of my life! The tour was well organized with delicious brekkie and lunch. The tour guide explained everything and could answer every question. I personally loved seeing the outback and desert as well as the caves, feeding and petting wallabies, and seeing real kangaroos! It was definitely worth every dollar. I can highly recommend this tour!

I had an amazing time on the Chillagoe Caves and Outback Day Trip tour!! This was my favorite tour of my trip! Gavin was an amazing tour guide and offered so much information on the local environment, animals and aboriginal people! His passion for the area was very obvious!! The coffee stop was amazing, the caves were so cool and my absolute favorite part was getting to feed the wild wallabies! We also got super lucky and saw a dingo. Definitely worth the trip(:

The 4wd bus was super comfortable. We spotted 3 crocs on our river cruise, had an amazing lunch and experienced some great views of the Daintree and cape tribulation

On time, informative, comfortable, and impressive. Just a few of the ways to describe this trip. The 4 wheel drive vehicle was clean and comfortable with ample air conditioning and large clean windows. Our driver, Tony, was gracious, knowledgeable and patient. Some of the roads we drove on had been only recently opened from the devastation from cyclone Jasper in December last year. Tony made the longer than usual time spend in the bus entertaining and informative. The morning tea break and river cruise were wonderful. We saw birds and a crocodile, which was amazing as the whole river area had been flattened in the storm, and the guide was sad to say he had lost contact with a number of the resident creatures who normally made this area their home. He was as excited as us to actually see the croc! Lunch was delicious, as was the ice cream on the drive back. The beach walk was beautiful and the spectacular rain forests, even with so many trees damaged, were amazing. I would highly recommend this trip.

Tour was modified due to the recent cyclone and heavy rain making some road impassable.
We still had a fantastic day with our tour guide Gaven who displayed a great passion for the area. He was extremely knowledgeable and also fun.
Our river cruise captain Bruce also went out of his way to find us some wildlife including a crocodile. This was no mean feat given the recent extreme damage done to the Daintree.
We strongly recommend this tour.

From start to finish the day was varied and interesting. Gavin our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Parts of the trip had to be amended due to the damage caused by cyclone jasper, but it was a great day. Food was good and the river swim was a welcome break. Would recommend billy tea Safari's if you want to visit the daintree.

We had a guide with a lot of interesting information about the country, the communities and the rainforests plants and animals. Food was excellent. As of that wasn’t enough we got to see a Cassuare in the wild.

Fantastic day out. Tony the guide was excellent and very knowledgeable and informative pointing out the local flora and fauna. Due to the weather, high tides the itinerary had to be adjusted a little but we still did everything and even though we were running late didn’t miss anything or feel rushed. I would thoroughly recommend this efficiently run excursion.

We had a great time on the tour. The Daintree river cruise was fantastic. The tour showed the devastation that Cyclone Jasper caused. The damage the roads and the river ecosystems was unimaginable.
Whilst it was really disappointing not being able to make Cape Tribulation - it is completely understandable.
It rained a lot of the day which limited the time we could spend on the beach - (hence the “4” rating) but this couldn’t be helped.
A big shout out to (a) Daniel our host for the day - who was very knowledgeable and attentive and (b) Bruce - our Daintree River Cruise driver. He was knowledgeable and exceedingly entertaining / funny (he should consider a career in comedy)

Great day at Daintree and Mossman. It rained - a lot! This didn’t spoil our day although the walk on Thornton Beach would’ve been better in the sun! River cruise was great and we saw crocs!
Graham was our driver and the reason for 4 stars was the van was either freezing or hot & stuffy. There was never a happy medium.

What an incredible day! We saw and did so much. Although we couldn't go to Cape Tribulation because of landslides that were caused by the cyclone in December 2023, the Daintree River cruise was incredible (crocs, lots of them!), the beach was fabulous, lunch was delicious, and then we were treated to a visit to Mossman Gorge, which was on our bucket list but we thought we wouldn't be able to get there this trip. I highly recommend this one. Great tour guide and experience. Don't miss out!

What a fabulous day out! We had Andrew as our Tour Guide. So knowledgeable, friendly & accommodating.
He shared information & interesting stories the whole day. Knew the roads like the back of his hand. Highly recommend. We all enjoyed lunch. Some of us enjoyed ice cream but good to try different flavours.

This excursion was amazing I could see crocodiles! Even if it was raining I enjoyed the whole day.
Our guide Daniel made the day very interesting and he was also very friendly!!
The lunch was so good, there was a good portion and we also had fruits. After that, we went to have an ice cream made with seasonal fruits.

Had a great time in the daintree, very good pace and our guide Grahme was very entertaining and told us a lot of Australian history and cultural info. The lunch and ice cream they provided was great and you should definitely try the local barramundi fish while you're there. Unfortunately due to the heavy rainstorms we didn't get to see as many crocs or birds as we would have liked but it was a great trip regardless.

Amazing day. Grahame was an encyclopedia of knowledge from botany, history and ecological state of the rain forest. Wonderful day of sightseeing, visits and experiences with commentary throughout. We did not get to Cape Tribulation itself due to the after effects, and continuing restoration, of the devastating floods of Dec 23 - what we saw, though was probably as beautiful.

All the spectacular scenery, the rainforest walk, and the relaxing time at Cape Tribulation Beach.
Highlights. The rainforest walk in Mossman Gorge National Park. Seeing the patterns in the sand (presumably from crabs digging holes) at Cape Tribulation Beach.
