Itinerary
We depart Hobart heading east then following the coastline north. We travel through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea as we make our way to Freycinet National Park. Freycinet is one of Tasmania’s first National Parks, famous for its rich and stunning coastal landscapes. Pink Granite Mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, local wildlife and amazing walking trails.
We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, this is a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes. Once at the top you are rewarded with that world – famous view of Wineglass Bay and the stunning Freycinet National Park. Enjoy the moment, take in the views and let our guides help you with those sought-after photographs. The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and requires good mobility and adequate fitness. It is 1.3 km uphill, before returning downhill.
For the keen walkers, you can continue the walk down to Wineglass beach (2.5 hr return walking time). You have time on this famous beach to take a swim, relax, eat your lunch or meander along the white sands.
If you prefer to select the shorter walking option, then you can explore other areas of Freycinet with our tour guide. Visit Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay, Cape Tourville Lighthouse & great short walk.
We re-group ready for the return journey. Our final stop on the East Coast is the stunning Devil’s Corner Winery, where you will have time to take in the magnificent view. On site you can enjoy a wine tasting, wood fired pizza, fresh seafood and Oysters from Freycinet Marine Farm and ice creams all available at own expense on the day.
Then it is onwards into Launceston arriving around 6.00pm.
We anticipate you will travel with 1 suitcase/travel pack per person, and your day pack for the day. If you have excess luggage please let our team know prior to travelling. We have an extensive range of hotels that we pick up and drop off door to door. However, if your accommodation is not part of our selected range of hotels/hostels, you will be picked up from a central location in Hobart, and dropped off to a central location in Launceston.

On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture. Our tours are for those wanting to really explore and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience. The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. What is the weather like in Tasmania?
Tasmania weather has four distinct seasons. The warmest months are December, January, February and March. Autumn (Fall) has many sunny days and the landscape produces a mass of colour as 200 year-old oaks, elms, birches and Tasmania’s own native beech, turn from gold to red in preparation for winter. Winter runs from May through August. Spring spans September, October and November, and brings oceans of wildflowers. The average summer temperatures sit between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius (62 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit) and in winter, between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius (37 and 51 degrees Fahrenheit). Tasmania’s location below the 40th parallel means the summer evenings display a lingering twilight

“Reasonable hiking and great animal spotting”
We caught the 830am and 230pm ferry and did two easy hiking trails on the island. Enough for wild animal spotting like pademelon, wombat, kangaroo and kookaburra. Highly recommend if you are an animal lover
“See Tasmania”
Can't believe so much can be packed into one day while not feeling rushed. You get to see so many amazing sights on this tour. Hiking, kangaroo feedings, and amazing views. So happy this was my first experience in Tasmania. Truly a special and perfect day to start my trip.
“Great for short trips to Hobart”
Beautiful forest, informative, interesting with the Huon river the centre piece. Pleasure to walk into the forest and even spotted a Lyrebird
“Great day out in Tasman Peninsula”
Had a great day touring the Tasman Peninsula guided by Trevor who regaled us with interesting facts of history and local culture. Loved the cliff walk seeing Devils Kitchen and Tasman Arch. Spectacular scenery.
Visit to Port Arthur and seeing Tassie Devils in action was great. A full day but would recommend.
“Wombats galore”
Great place to see wildlife - lots of wombats, pademelons, and kangaroos. Very enjoyable day with a well-organized and knowledgeable guide.
“Ben led a wonderful Tasmanian Tour!”
We bought our Mt. Field & Bonorong Wildlife Park Adventure excursion through “Shore Excursion Groups” for our cruise ship’s stop in Hobart, TAS. The instructions provided were excellent and got us to the visitor center where a nice man could tell we were looking for our group and checked our name off his list. This was Ben, our phenomenal tour guide. A Sydney transplant to Tasmania, Ben is a font of knowledge, about geology, culture, flora, and fauna from Australia and the state of Tasmania. He is also a very kind and humorous man who kept us engaged and laughing for the entire day-long tour. We greatly enjoyed the naturewalk through Mt Field park, culminating in a stunning view of the falls. The picnic lunch we picked up from a quaint bakery was excellent. And the Bonorong wildlife sanctuary was really about rehabilitation and focused on native wildlife- a really wonderful thing to see especially since we are not big fans of zoos - this was not a zoo! Overall, we had a truly lovely day and Ben was a huge part of that. Thank you Tours Tasmania!!
“Beautiful sights all day long!”
This trip was well worth doing and our guide Clinton was absolutely fantastic and so knowledgeable about the island. The waterfalls walk was particularly beautiful and a highlight for me. A very enjoyable day!
“Taz Tour”
The tour was awesome. Be prepared to do some hiking. The guide was great and had very local knowledge. I would recommend very highly.
“Only enough time to do the Airwalk.”
We only had enough time to do the airwalk as the drive is quite long - but fun - and it will depend on how quick you do the walks. To get to the airwalk you drive along a logging road - which is paved - through some impressive trees, which is a good start to the adventure. The actual airwalk is fun, but it looks like the forest is still regenerating from a fire in 2019 and in a few years will be more impressive. Going out on the cantilever section gave an impressive view!
Take the walk to the swinging bridges, but they do bounce a bit!
All in all a good trip
“Totally worth going!”
Nathan was an amazing guide! He made everyone feel welcome and knew so much about Tasmania.
The Tahune Airwalk is easy for most people to do. I enjoyed doing the Franklin River walk (50min)but wish I walked faster to fit in the Huon Pine 20minute walk. I heard that was amazing!
Hastings cave was breathtakingly beautiful.
“Heather is a great guide with Tours Tasmania.”
We did three tours with Heather from Tours Tasmania while staying in Hobart. Maria Island, Mount Field/Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and the Freycinet Peninsula. An excellent guide, very well spoken, knowledgeable and courteous. Each day was most enjoyable.
“Tour guide Ben was just fantastic. He is an asset to the company”
Fantastic guide and scenery was just beautiful along with the informative discussions whilst driving and experiencing the beauty of the caves and whilst on the air walk. Made sure everyone was safe and felt included.
“Good”
it is vary good in like experiens very good and very nice nature me and me husban like very muchen grasias ve like it becusse it was has good pepole and good dyr
“Well worth the trip.”
What a great thing to do in southern Tassie.
It’s a drive, but a beautiful one. The road is sealed all the way and it’s in good condition. The staff were friendly and the air walk was amazing. We also did the eagle hang life/zip line. Well worth it. The long loop traversed 2 swing bridges and was an easy 1 hour walk.
“Great experience”
Great tour. The Mt Field hike is about 3 hours long and has a lot of stairs in two locations. You can leave after the first couple of falls and go back to the visitor center, but at that point, we were 1/3 way through the loop and majority of the group wanted to continue. Tour guide went on full loop with us so whole group went. Great seeing it all but was too much walking for a couple of people in our group. The tour guide was fabulous and pointed out many interesting things on our hike. Fun time at the wildlife center and beautiful views from Mt. Wellington.
“Wombat Dreams Come True”
Our Maria Island tour with Carl was epic! He was super friendly, knew so much about the area, and had us all laughing the whole day.
But the absolute highlight? Carl went all out to help me see a wombat, which has been a dream of mine forever. They were nowhere to be found at first, but Carl didn’t give up. He took us to all the usual spots and kept searching, and right at the end of the day—boom! We found a mum and her little bub. I honestly couldn’t believe it. Best. Day. Ever.
Huge shoutout to Carl for being such a legend and making this such an unforgettable experience. If you’re thinking about a trip, do it – and hope you get Carl as your guide!
