Itinerary
Wineglass Bay is nestled in Freycinet National Park on Tasmania's east coast — one of the state's first national parks, where pink granite mountains form the backdrop for secluded bays, pristine waters, white sandy beaches, wildlife and walking trails.
We depart Hobart heading east, passing the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea as we make our way north to Freycinet National Park.
We walk as a group to the Wineglass Bay Lookout — a moderate uphill walk of around 45 minutes (1.3 km up, then down) and one of Tasmania's Great Short Walks — where you're rewarded with that world-famous view. Sturdy footwear and adequate fitness required.
From the lookout, return with your guide, or keen hikers can continue down to Wineglass Bay Beach (a 2.5-hour return walk) to enjoy lunch on the sand, a swim in the pristine (chilly!) waters, or a wander along the white beach. Prefer a shorter option? Return from the lookout and explore other areas of Freycinet — Honeymoon Bay, Cape Tourville Lighthouse and Sleepy Bay.
After around 4 hours at Freycinet, we regroup for the trip back to Hobart. Our final stop is the stunning Devil's Corner Winery, with time to take in the magnificent view — wine tasting, wood-fired pizza, fresh seafood and oysters, and ice creams are available at your own expense. We return to Hobart around 6:00pm.

So much fun. Long long drive on the first day but guide Jason was absolutely hilarious so the trip was very entertaining. All very well organised, the accommodation was quite good for basic pub lodging, esp in Daly Waters. Plenty of snacks to keep us going. Again, had so much fun, Jason’s humour and also professionalism running the trip was incredible.

Good way to experiance wineglass bay. Especially if you don't have a car whilst in Tassie.
You do need a moderate level of fitness for the wineglass look out or the wineglass beach walk as there are afew steps but it is well worth it.
You are given options of what walk to take I opted for the wineglass bay lookout walk aswell as honeymoon bay and the lighthouse walk. Wine glass bay lookout walk is approx 1.5 hr return. You do have the option of a wineglass beach walk aswell that is longer.
Our guide was very informative and was great to learn about local fauna and florna aswell with the gums and different trees around the area.

Was a nice little stop at devils crossing aswell for a beverage and a bite to eat of you're peckish after some walking trails.

Alex was the perfect guide, really likeable guy with a wealth of local knowledge. Picked up from our apartment on time, plenty of food and convenience stops aswell as short visits to real beauty spots and Richmond. Hourglass bay lookout was a 40 min uphilll climb with lots of steps, the view at the top was breathtaking but Alex had a great back up plan for anyone not feeling up to the hike at a nearby lodge. He really goes out of his way to make sure everyone is catered for and enjoys the experience. Highly recommend.

Make sure you wear decent walking shoes for the hike to wineglass bay lookout. It was so worth it but it’s definitely a decent trek with lots of rock steps!
Also don’t forget your motion sickness tablets if you’re not good on windy roads in a bus.

I did 2 tours with drink Tasmania on a recent quick break to Hobart. Both were excellent.
Whiskey tour - Learnt a heap about Whiskey making from 4 distillers from relatively large scale to completely boutique small run distillers. The passion these folk have for their art (product) is amazing. Tastings were very generous and Peter (our guide) made the day alot of fun and was extremely knowledgeable about Tassie and the history of the place and where we were venturing to.
Signature tour - This one gives a great overview of what is made in Tassie. Winery, cideries, distillery and brewery all in one day.
Again, our host Tim was alot of fun as well as very knowledgeable about where and what we were seeing and more importantly tasting. Tastings were again very generous and the the staff very knowledgeable about their products and happy to talk about what they do.
Its worth noting that at no point was there pressure to make purchases on either of the tours I took, although I did dent the card at a couple of places with no regrets :)
Both tours were punctual and well organised as well as being a relaxed day through some beautiful countryside.

Great little trip outside of Hobart, perfect for anyone that doesn't have a vehicle to get around or if you don't fancy driving. Ben was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable and you can tell he loves his job !! Plenty of downtime to explore and a day full of activities.. the wineglass bay beach is an absolute must, there is a lot of steps on the way back up but it's worth every second. Beautiful views at the winery after and food to celebrate all our hard work.

What a terrible day weather wise, Simon our driver/ did an excellent job in a difficult situation. Local knowledge, fantastic. Knew the best bakeries to get lunch/breakfast from. Was very kind to elderly guests who didn’t quite understand what they had signed up for. Did his very best, despite adversity. “Not designed for people over 55yo or those with restricted mobil”
Wasn't happy with the tour, couldn't manage the walk to the lookout. Thought the National Park was poorly maintained and the walking track up to the lookout was very unsafe, with no railings. We ended up turning back halfway up due to this & then had to wait some time for everyone to return. The stop at Honeymoon Bay toveat lunch was shabby, limited seating. Wouldn't recommend this tour. Tour bus was also a little shabby & in need of some repair

Great day. Hiking down to wineglass bay was fun. There are lots of steps for those who may have issues. Wish we could have seen the other bays, but if you choose to hike down into winglass bay, you don't get to see the other 2 stops. There was a Wallaby on the beach just hanging out and some dolphins swimming in the bay

We hiked through incredible scenery with knowledgeable commentary from our guide Nick. The one disappointment was that the planned stops at Freycinet Marine Farm and Kate's Berry Farm were dropped in favour of a wine-tasting venue — we'd have loved to sample the local seafood and berries.

Unfortunately, this trip was cancelled the day before we were supposed to go on it. This was going to be one of the highlights of our trip to Tasmania that we were not able to experience. We did four tours with this company: Cradle Mountain; Wineglass Bay; Port Arthur; and Maria Island , all were fantastic, guides/drivers knowledgable and helpful, the sights interesting and/or beautiful and would have been difficult to accomplish so much each day on one’s own. Small groups made for a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. In addition to hiking to stunning coastal views and bays and beaches we encountered kangaroos, wallabies, Echinda and wombats and saw many birds as well. Got to feed kangaroos, and watch Tasmanian devils fighting over food. Guides provided interesting historical information and anecdotes Highly recommend

Driver was great, just giving us enough information on the drive out. Unfortunately it was crappy weather and I had already walked for 4 days on another tour. So the driver kindly recommended myself and another lady to be dropped at The Lodge (clearly picked up we like a wine and nibbles). He then took us to a couple of beautiful spots for a look. Do accommodating. Highly recommend. If the weather is crap ( it can be at a drop of a hat) you have options. What we did see was amazing. Now an excuse to go back to Tassie to see Wineglass on a sunny day

The Freycinet and Wineglass bay tour was a wonderful experience and worth the drive there! The hike up 400 steps over the saddle to the lookout to see Wineglass Bay from up high was well worth the effort, and Ben our tour guide kept us amused all day with his Tasmania/Australian/European history and flora and fauna storytelling. He's cute AF too. Lunch at Honeymoon Bay was so peaceful and I'm glad i tried the mulled wine and oysters in Oyster Bay. Highly recommend this tour if you want to try a variety of activities in 1 day with a well organised tour company like Tours Tasmania.

I did this tour as part of the 'Big Three' three-day tour from Hobart to Launceston. The weather on the day of the tour was not ideal, lightly raining nearly the entire day, but I still had a lot of fun. The day started early picking everyone up from their hotels before making a quick stop shortly outside of Hobart for anyone needing to purchase lunch to take with them for the day. We made one additional stop along a beach before getting to the Freycinet National Park. From there, we had three options of walks, a short walk to a cafe/lunch spot, a walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout (a 45-minute uphill walk), or the option to extend your walk to the actual sands of Wineglass Bay (approximately 2.5 hours). Normally, I would have chosen the longer walk, but given the weather was rainy, and the guide advised there were a couple of sections of the walk to be careful on, our group of four opted for the walk to the lookout. Two of the members of the group stopped halfway to the lookout before turning to head towards the van as it was an uphill climb and a bit too much for them. After taking in the views overlooking Wineglass Bay, we headed to Honeymoon Bay and did the Cape Tourville Lighthouse Walk. The description says you stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm for oysters, but we did not, so maybe that is a seasonal thing. Because I did this as part of the 'Big Three' tour, I then switched buses to go to Launceston instead of back to Hobart so I can't comment on the trip to the Berry Farm. Overall, the day was long and tiring, but fun, and I learned a lot from the guides.

Also due to covid, you get 100% of your money back if due to lockdowns you can't make it. We did two tours with Tours Tasmania the Wine Glass and Cradle Mt. “A nice hike to the lookout”
Stop 3: Freycinet park to hike to the lookout for wine glass bay. The hike is worth for the view. You will get 2 options either do short walk and go to honeymoon bay for lunch or do a long walk and take your lunch at wineglass bay. From the lookout to the wineglass bay is 1000 steps (return to wineglass bay by climbing back those 1000 steps). Because my friends and I did short walk so our next stop was 4.
Stop 4: lunch at honeymoon bay. Very beautiful view to enjoy your picnic lunch.

Stop 6: Andrew dropped us at Sleepy bay for 20 mins to get the people who were doing long walk. The walk to sleepy way is breathtaking picture perfect. But 20 mins is not sufficient you have to rush yourself and not suitable for elderly people or anyone without fitness. I wish instead of the stop at Marine farm if we had been given more time here ... it would have been great.

“Great day in Tasmania”
Our guide Nick was great. The weather outlook wasn’t the best so he shuffled the tour stops so we actually got to see everything before the rain set in. The views in Frecinet and at Wineglass Bay are beautiful. Nick explained all of the local plants and wildlife while we hiked. Nick also explained the local history and culture of Tasmania and Australia. I highly recommend this tour.

“The tour is great and great eye opening walk”
We love the walk at the park, we saw a lot of great sights and it is all so nature. Clint the tour guide was good and he take time to explain to us history around the park and also give us good insight of history of Hobart along the way. Overall it is a good and eye opening walk as we really appreciate the nature that we would not have been able to experience back in Singapore.
I would like to personally thank Clint as he had bothered to return our son's jumper a day after our tour. He left it at the hotel front desk early in the morning. Thanks for making the effort and we really appreciate it.

It is so beautiful in the national park and wineglass bay. Clint our tour guide is very friendly and considerate ;) one of the best day trips i have in Hobart. Most of us didn't go to wineglass bay, because it's a bit of long walk, but Clint took the rest of us to honeymoon bay and sleepy bay.
I don't remember the name for the oyster place, I loved the abalone sashimi, i think it's better than the oysters ;)
The information i receive from viator was wrong, and a few of us took towel, swim wear and jackets on a 29 degree day, because the email voucher said cave temperature is 9 degrees. But clint was nice enough to take us to a secret cave (very small one nearby the big rock) to compensate our expectation ;)
“Very enjoyable with lots of interesting stops”
My partner and I did the Wineglass Bay tour with Rod, and we really enjoyed it. Rod was chatty and friendly, sharing interesting facts and clearly enjoying himself as much as everyone else. We stopped at Campbell Town (with interesting history), a winery and gorgeous beaches before Wineglass Bay, and when the weather looked poor Rod cleverly switched the schedule so the rain cleared by our walk. Honeymoon Bay and Friendly Beaches were amazing. Thanks Rod!
“Another amazing day”
I, once again, had Andrew for my tour guide. There was only one other person on the tour with me, so we got to do a few extra excursions. With that being said, Andrew was super open to do whatever we wanted, and let us stay at the site for as long as we wanted. The drive to the park is a long one, but it's completely do-able (especially if you have Andrew, he'll keep you entertained and the ride goes by fast). I assumed that we would only be visiting Wineglass Bay, but boy was I wrong. We went to a few different lookouts, and a few other bays in Freycinet. Andrew was with us the entire time, and he would point out the different types of wildlife and views surrounding us. Overall, it was a really amazing day, and I loved this tour. Hopefully you'll be in a smaller tour group so you can do extra stuff, but I'm sure if you're in a larger one you'll still get an awesome tour.

“Wonderful Tours and Outstanding Customer Service”
With only three days in Tasmania, Tours Tasmania helped us plan three full-day tours — Mt Field/Mt Wellington/Bonorong/Richmond; the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur; and Hobart to Launceston via Wineglass Bay. Our many emails were answered promptly and helpfully, and we were picked up at our hotel and travelled in comfortable coaches with knowledgeable, helpful driver-guides. Each tour offered more or less energetic routes to choose from — a wonderful, scenic learning experience. I'd love to return for one of the longer trips.
“Lovely trip”
Picked up by tour guide Jack who was excellent, very knowledgable and friendly. Learnt a lot on the way up there about Tassie and the local wildlife and enjoyed the fresh seafood lunch. Jack was very flexible with the group (if people wanted to get takeaway lunch and see the sea that was fine or stay and eat etc) and he ferried us about happily showing us beautiful hidden beaches off the beaten track on route.
Wineglass bay was lovely. The group split between those who wanted to do the long or the short hike, I did the long one and really enjoyed exploring the beach.
There seem to be a few grumbles about a long time in the van on the thread but aside from magic I don't see how that could be changed and the minibus was certainly comfortable enough! A long but lovely day and would recommend.

“A MUST DO Attraction if visiting Tasmania”
Wineglass Bay and the hike up the pink granite mountains offer a highly enjoyable way to spend the day. It's absolutely beautiful and the scenery is spectacular! There are many different hikes you can take of varying difficulty and levels. But the bottom line is this: getting to the lookout to see the views of the bay is a must when you're in Freycinet National Park. Absolutely stunningly beautiful, peaceful, wonderful hikes through the bush and just a must-do while visiting this beautiful island! I loved every bit of it! Enjoy the visit! It can not/NOT be missed!

Had an absolutely awesome day with Zach - Scottish-born but Tasmanian at heart - my highly skilled tour guide! The sky stayed blue, the sun stayed out and the wildlife came out to play! :) So thrilled to see an echidna, baby Tiger snake slither ahead of us on a track; a whale that had come into Wineglass Bay to rest, play and gently perform for those of us that had our cameras poised on him the whole time; and the tame wallaby that likes to hang out at the Wineglass Bay lookout! It was an active, action-packed day that ended with local Tasmanian lavender ice cream with a stop at Kate's Berry Farm on the way back to Hobart. I absolutely loved it! Heartfelt thanks to Tours Tasmania for making it happen and letting me leave Tasmania in love with the place :))
“Nice Tour, but A LOT of Time in the Van”
Jack, our driver-guide, did a very nice job, and Wineglass Bay is beautiful with a not-too-difficult hike. The one caveat is the time in the van — about 5.5 hours all told — which was a bit much for me, and the lunch options are limited (I'd recommend eating at the first, seafood stop).

Day was great to Wineglassbay- however I think you could have cut it short by another 3 hours by skipping the town (twice), skip the oyster lunch, and skip the second lunch (just byo or stop 1x!). Fill the day with something else or make it a half one...

“This is a great day out!”
Fantastic full day tour from Hobart. Freycinet National Park is very beautiful, the walk to the lookout through the bush and huge rock formations is rewarded by magnificent views down to Wineglass Bay. The white sand beaches, delicious oyster lunch and meeting the folks at the wallaby rescue clinic were extra bonuses. Phil was an excellent guide and driver and looked after our every need.
“Beautiful site and great hike”
This is a great all day trip from Hobart. We were conveniently picked up from our hotel. Our guide, David, was knowledgeable and accommodating. We were looking for not only a good way to see this area, but also a challenging hike and we got both. The whole tour goes to the lookout and then you can choose to stay with the guide, or to do a self-guided hike down (and back up!) to the beach. I highly recommend going to the beach. It's 1000 steps - sometimes steep- up and back but it is well worth it. Buy your lunch ahead of time to enjoy at the beach and don't forget to bring a bathing suit if you'd like to swim - but note that there are no changing rooms. The food stops - for oysters and jelly - are both well worth it also.
“Great Natural Beauty”
I thought of driving to Wineglass Bay until I saw the day tour in TripAdvisor. Well worth joining the tour with medium intensity walks through Coles Bay, Honeymoon Bay, Cape Tourville and Wineglass Bay. Stunning views and if you are lucky enough, meet the local wild life. Return trip via Kate's Berry Farm where you must try the salted caramel ice cream. Yum. Buy some local produce as this is Tasmania after all. Going on a tour means you get to see the best places without the hassle. You can snooze on the way back to Hobart as it is over 2 hours of driving each way. Beats driving on a holiday!
“Beautiful views and great tour guides”
My best friend & I took this tour in January 2018 with Tours Tasmania, and loved it. They were prompt with pickup outside our hotel, very informative with information regarding the areas we passed through as well as the sites visited. Very knowledgable, entertaining and friendly. Clint was our tour guide/driver, with Mel & Dan as his trainee guides along side him. All three were fantastic. We even got to see a secret cave! Would definitely recommend.
“Great day but......”
Overall a great, memorable day. A couple of easy improvements: it'd be better to meet at the stated departure point rather than being picked up at 7am and driving around Hobart for 45 minutes collecting others (with the first coffee stop not until 9:30am), and there's a mid-tour swap of ten people and luggage between two minibuses (to do with the airports) that isn't mentioned in the description. Our driver Zak worked hard, and the view of Wineglass Bay is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Stunning landscapes”
David was our tour guide, and though a bit quirky, his knowledge and love for Tasmania really shows. The national park was a bit far, but once we got there it was well worth it. The optional hikes were perfect for everyone's comfort level, and David did an excellent job leading us to Wine Glass Bay lookout. The small tour size was perfect, and helped move everything along in a timely manner. Our goal when choosing Tasmania and selecting this tour was seafood and mountains and this checked both boxes. We stopped for fresh oysters along the way and they were delicious! The eastern coast of Tasmania is breath-taking, and this tour showed us that.
Had the van been more comfortable, I would have given the tour five stars. The seats are close together, and at 5'3 my knees were killing me by the end of the day. The climate control was good, and David is an excellent driver.
“Great way to explore Tassie”
We did the one-day Wineglass Bay tour and it was a definite highlight — very reasonably priced and absolutely worth it. Our guide Zac was very knowledgeable and we made lots of stops at local stores and peninsula viewpoints. Highly recommend!
“Great tour!”
The tour starts really on time and stopped for a few stations for us to rest during the long journey to Wineglass. The tour size is just about 12-16 people and therefore the tour guide can take care of each individual or group. Dan, our tour guide, is a very bubbly and friendly guy. Wineglass is breathtaking, you must make it to the lookout!
Although we had a flat tyre, Dan was extremely careful and prompt. He made sure the tyre has been properly replaced and double checked for its safety before taking us back to Hobart. This means taking us about 1.5 hours waiting but it's okay as safety is the first priority. We also missed the trip to Kate's berry farm, which would definitely have made this tour much better.
But overall we really enjoyed ourself.
“Great days out...”
With a couple of days in Hobart, I booked two tours — Port Arthur with Dan and, the next day, Wineglass Bay and Freycinet with Nick. Dan was great, with lovely local knowledge, and the magnificent Tasman Peninsula and the walk to the Tasman Arch were highlights (Port Arthur is well worth it, even in rain). The Wineglass day was fantastic — a long day through stunning landscape, with Nick very professional and great at sharing information, and I loved the walk to the Wineglass Bay viewpoint and our picnic lunch.

A long but very rewarding full day with Dan — the scenery was stunning and the commentary interesting and informative. Our driver was helpful, making sure we were all okay climbing to the Wineglass Bay lookout. A lot was packed in — highly recommended.
“Full on days!”
Nervous about seeing as much as possible in a few days, I chose two Tours Tasmania trips — Wineglass Bay and Port Arthur — and they were two of the best day tours I've done anywhere in Australia (and worldwide). They were also the only Hobart company I found offering this variety every day, even in winter. The group size was perfect. The Wineglass hike was phenomenal under a cloudless sky (the trail to the beach was closed, which I'd have liked to know in advance), and Dan showed us the rest of Freycinet with time for a swim at Honeymoon Bay. Port Arthur felt like more driving but the Tassie Devil add-on was worth it, and the site is massive and fascinating. My favourite moment was a stunning sunset lookout over Hobart. Dan was knowledgeable, friendly and made a real effort with everyone, with great local tips. Will definitely be back!
“Very satisfying indeed”
My wife and I did the Wineglass Bay and Freycinet day tour — probably the longest Tours Tasmania offers (7:20am to 6:30pm), tired but most satisfied! Our guide David was knowledgeable, informative and attentive, leading us on a bushwalk to the best Wineglass Bay views. We had a close encounter with a wallaby, saw whales in the distance, stopped for fresh oysters and sea urchin at a marine farm, visited beaches, had a quiet lunch on Honeymoon Beach and watched the sunset on Spiky Beach. The 20-minute walk up was tough-going but the view was worth it. David is the best — a really good day out.

Clint was a fantastic driver who gave us lots of tips and hidden photo spots. The tour was interesting and fun, visiting Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Kate's Berry Farm, with a spectacular view from the top and fun clambering among the rocks. A very cold day, but a great tour.

I did two day tours (Wineglass Bay and Port Arthur) with Tours Tasmania and both were great fun. The groups were small (9 and 13), and we stopped at many places — even some extra spots not on the itinerary. Both guides (Zach and Dan) knew a lot about their areas. Can highly recommend both tours!

Being a young backpacker, trying to get the best out my experience in Tasmania I was excited when I saw a trip to wineglass bay! I was so happy with the way the tour turned out! The guide, Rob, was informative and allowed us to stop at some unbelievable sites! Not only did we see the beautiful wineglass bay, but also honeymoon bay, sleepy cove, AND Cape Tourville! Saw so many different things, making the tour incredible as it aloud me to see so many things in one day! Would highly recommend it!

Picked up at our hotel at 7:30am, we set out for Freycinet, stopping at beautiful lookouts and seeing sheep, vineyards and coastal views along the way, and grabbing sandwiches at the Bark Mill Bakery for a picnic. With only three of us, our flexible guide offered various options, and we did the 2-hour hike to and from the Wineglass Bay lookout — gorgeous — then Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and a lighthouse, tasted oysters, and got dessert at Kate's Berry Farm. Back at our hotel by 6pm — a full, wonderful day.

The Wineglass Bay and Freycinet day was even better than the first — our guide David was the best, sharing lots of interesting stories throughout. Wineglass Bay is an absolute must if you visit Tasmania — I only wish I could have stayed longer and done more walks, but this tour was incredible at fitting in as much as possible. Our guide was fantastic, really taking the group into account when planning the walks and even allowing different routes so everyone had the best experience, with extra little stops including a lovely lunch bay. A day trip to Wineglass Bay and Freycinet with Tours Tasmania. Hostel pick-up was on time and convenient, and we stopped at a nice bakery on the way. The walk up to the lookout was worth the view awaiting us, and as no one wanted the walk down to the beach we also visited Honeymoon Bay, Cape Tourville and Sleepy Bay. A Wineglass Bay and Freycinet tour with Adam as host. When my camera was destroyed after I got too close to the water, Adam went out of his way so my day wasn't ruined — letting me use his phone for photos, being gracious about my wet clothes in the vehicle, and after the tour finding a camera store still open and waiting while I bought a new one before dropping me at my hotel. “Impressive tour to wineglass bay and Richmond”
My friend and I joined the Wineglass Bay tour. Our guide Teresa was very nice and knowledgeable, sharing lots about Tassie, and she walked with us to the Wineglass Bay lookout — which we really appreciated, as many guides just drop you off. As it was cloudy and foggy, Teresa kindly offered Richmond instead of other beaches, and it's a lovely place with a beautiful bridge. We'd definitely recommend Tours Tasmania and would join Teresa's tour again.

A Freycinet National Park day tour with David and a group of 20. We stopped at a couple of beaches before reaching the park, and the hike to Wineglass Bay was exhausting but well worth it.

We did this day tour to Wineglass Bay in December with our kids and thoroughly enjoyed it. The view from the top was mesmerizing, and the other beaches and viewpoints equally beautiful — a very scenic location. Our amazing guide Adrian (Ado) made it even more memorable: in a small group of 10-12 from all over the world, he connected personally with each of us and helped everyone mix, so it didn't feel like a group of strangers. A nice tour for families and friends, easy to medium activity.
