Itinerary
Day 1: Hobart to Queenstown
Meals: Dinner
Departing nipaluna / Hobart, we venture into the rugged Western Wilds. Our first stop is the beautiful Russell Falls in Mount Field National Park. Climbing into the alpine region, we stop at Australia's deepest freshwater lake, Lake St Clair, then travel through the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park to see the tannin-coloured Franklin River and take a short walk into lovely Nelson Falls. Nearing the historic mining town of Queenstown, take in views of the Iron Blow Lookout, Horsetail Falls and Mt Lyell, before a group dinner and a night's rest.
Overnight: Queenstown (Silver Hills Motel)
Day 2: Gordon River Cruise to Burnie
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
From the harbourside village of Strahan, cruise the Gordon River, with a guided boardwalk through UNESCO World Heritage rainforest and a tour of the harsh penal settlement at Sarah Island. Cruise through the treacherous Hells Gates into Macquarie Harbour, with lunch aboard featuring Tasmanian produce, and see a Huon pine sawmill. Then a scenic drive to the North West Coast. After dinner, you may wish to stroll the foreshore to the penguin parade, where little penguins emerge from the sea.

Travel west along Tasmania's stunning North West Coast, where sparkling Bass Strait meets charming rural towns. Enjoy scenic stops at Boat Harbour Beach and Table Cape before free time for lunch in historic Stanley — stroll colonial High Street or climb (or take the chairlift) to the summit of The Nut, a dramatic volcanic plug with sweeping coastal views. Continue to Arthur River, the 'Edge of the World', part of the wild takayna / Tarkine, a coastline of deep spiritual significance to the palawa people. Tonight, relax over dinner.

Day 4: Tarkine to Devonport
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
A deeper exploration of the Tarkine, the second-largest cool-temperate rainforest in the world, protecting ancient species and palawa Aboriginal heritage sites dating back thousands of years. Scenic stops include Sumac Lookout, with breathtaking views across the Arthur River, and the extraordinary Trowutta Arch. Returning to the coast, we visit the seaside town of Penguin and travel the Old Bass Highway through Ulverstone to Devonport via The Bluff, with a group dinner this evening.

Day 5: Cradle Mountain to Launceston

Discover the alpine and glacial landscapes of Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park, part of Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area. Your guide helps you select a walk to suit your fitness — the outstanding 6 km Dove Lake Circuit beneath the peaks (considered the best short walk in Tasmania), the iconic Boat Shed or Glacial Rock, and the boardwalk at Ronny Creek to look for wombats. Before Launceston, admire the colourful murals in Sheffield.

Day 6: Bay of Fires to Bicheno
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Visit Launceston's stunning Cataract Gorge on the South Esk River, a great place to spot wallabies. Drive to the east coast and stop for lunch in the fishing township of St Helens before exploring larapuna / Bay of Fires — clear waters, dazzling white sands and rust-orange boulders. Tonight's destination is the charming coastal town of Bicheno, with dinner included; you may wish to wander to the blowhole or the lookout over the Tasman Sea.
Overnight: Bicheno (Beachfront Bicheno)
Day 7: Freycinet National Park to Hobart
Meals: Breakfast
Freycinet National Park is Tasmania's east-coast jewel. Walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout for views of Tasmania's most famous beach — a moderate climb of around 1,000 steps with rest stops along the way — or relax at Honeymoon Bay beneath the pink granite Hazards. At Cape Tourville, stroll the short boardwalk for panoramic views of the peninsula. We return to Hobart via the Great Eastern Drive.

Day 8: Tasmanian Devils, Richmond & Wellington Park

Meet Tasmanian wildlife — quolls, birds, wombats, kangaroos and Tasmanian devils — at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Walk the colonial village of Richmond, home to the oldest convict-built bridge still in use in Australia, then return to Hobart via the scenic Coal River Valley wine region. This afternoon, explore some of our favourite spots in Wellington Park — kunanyi / Mount Wellington, with fern glades, eucalypt forests, dramatic rock columns and spectacular lookouts. Tonight, unwind in one of the city's historic pubs or restaurants.

Day 9: Bruny Island
Meals: Breakfast
Discover the highlights of Bruny Island. After a short drive from Hobart, take the ferry across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. At the isthmus between north and south Bruny, take in the view from The Neck at the top of Truganini Lookout. Visit South Bruny National Park and the incredible coastline at Cape Bruny Lighthouse, try your luck spotting white wallabies at Adventure Bay, and finish by sampling local Bruny Island produce — oysters, cheese and beers. Return to Hobart to explore the historic Salamanca and waterfront area.

Day 10: Port Arthur & the Tasman Peninsula
Meals: Breakfast
At the Port Arthur Historic Site, learn about the harsh life of convicts from the 1800s at Australia's best-preserved convict settlement. Wander the preserved ruins and colonial gardens and take a short harbour cruise around this UNESCO World Heritage-listed open-air museum. You'll also experience sites across the magnificent Tasman Peninsula — Pirates Bay Lookout, the Tessellated Pavement, Tasman Arch and Devil's Kitchen — before we make our way back to Hobart, where our ultimate tour of Tasmania comes to an end.

I had an amazing experience on the 10-day Ultimate Tasmania tour last month. I learned so much about Australia’s hidden treasures—places and landscapes I would never have found on my own. Our driver and tour guide Anthony was outstanding. He shared deep knowledge about Tasmania’s local culture, food, and natural environment, which really enriched the journey. I especially enjoyed the stories about his own family and experiences in Tasmania—these personal stories made the tour much more engaging and memorable， Feeling travel with a friend. Our group members most from overseas, they skipped mainland attractions, but prefered going to under down-under to enjoy peaceful Tasmania. The 10-day Ultimate Tour far exceeded my expectations. There were two walks I couldn't manage, but that was no problem — Anthony dropped me somewhere I could do shorter walks and take my time. His personal anecdotes, as a local who'd grown up with it all, made the experience that bit more special.
A good time with a great mix of travellers, plenty of fun and laughter, and thoroughly interesting throughout.

Extraordinarily brilliant tour. We saw everything we wanted to see in Tasmania. Our guide ‘Wombat’ was extremely knowledgeable and excellent. The accommodation and food also surpassed our expectations. We have travelled in a lot of tours and countries but this tour is definitely one of the best we have ever done. Highly recommend this trip if you want to get a deep immersion into all Tasmania has to offer. You can pick your level of walks or not walk at all. Can’t fault this trip.

As 70-somethings on the Comfort Tour we found the range of activities ideal, with options on every hike.

“Touring Tasmania”
Keygan was an awesome guide who seemed to know everything about Tasmania's flora, fauna, culture, politics and history, and a great storyteller who brought it all to life with genuine pride in his home state. Our 10-day group of 12 spanned ages 27 to 82 and several nationalities, and everyone enjoyed it. Be aware it's fairly sedentary, with long days in the van (often 4-7 hours) covering a lot of distance, though there are optional 2-3km scenic walks most days and many brief viewpoint stops. Accommodation varied from basic to moderate and breakfasts were continental. We covered a huge amount of the state, and the local knowledge meant we didn't miss the little stops we'd never have found ourselves.
Anthony was our guide and driver on the 10 Day Ultimate Comfort tour (19 of us). The days are full, just as the itinerary describes, with plenty to see.

An amazing 10-day comfort tour with our guide Tim, visiting truly beautiful places across Tasmania. It's hard to pick a favourite, but Cradle Mountain — with wild wombats and gorgeous scenery — might be it. The bus rides weren't too long, with regular stops to stretch, and the accommodation and breakfasts were fine (usually a cafe nearby for a sausage roll and coffee). Highly recommend.

Two sisters in our mid 60s did this tour which was fantastic from start to finish. We had a great group of friendly and fun people doing the tour. Our guide Keygan made this tour exceptional. He was fun, knowledgeable, informative, kind and helpful. He made the whole tour exciting and everyone enjoyed themselves. We had full days of walking and/or sightseeing. It was great learning new things. Everything from flora & fauna to history both past and present. Every part of the trip was a highlight. Absolutely fantastic Ultimate 10 day tour with our guide. He’s clearly passionate about Tasmania, and it shined through every day. Please pass along kudos to him! The tour consisted of 18 people, in a wide age range. It was lovely getting to know our fellow travelers, they had such interesting stories to share. The group was friendly and punctual. Tim’s passion and knowledge kept us all engaged. I’ve been on numerous tours and he’s top notch across the board. It was incredible seeing Cradle Mountain, the Bay of Fires, Edge of the World, Hells Gate, Launceston, waterfalls, Port Arthur, Freycinet National Park, Bruny Island, and climbing The Nut.

The tour was just what I wanted. The distances were broken up by opportunities to walk in forests, by waterfalls, lakes, sinkholes, sea caves, & on beaches. Every day was different & stimulating. Tim was a fabulous driver & entertaining guide / historian / naturalist. It was such a privilege to experience the wild west coast & north-west of Tasmania.

This tour of Tasmania was exceptional. The itinerary covered all the major places to see and many others as well. There was a reasonable level of activity, and always options to go more quietly if that's what we wanted. The number on the trip (18) wasn't too unwieldy. The accommodation was mid-level and comfortable. Our guide, Tim, was next level excellent. His breadth of knowledge was amazing and he as a fabulous story teller. He was patient, clear in his instructions, and always accommodating. I chose Under Down Under because my nephew recommended it and I now pass on the highest recommendation. It's a great way to see Tasmania.

This is the perfect tour for anyone who wants to see almost all of Tasmania, with a good amount of physical activity, beautiful scenery, very reasonable cost, comfortable lodging and a very knowledgeable and fun tour . Our guide Tim was well versed in all the flora and fauna, made getting in and out of meals and lodging quick and easy, was very considerate of restroom breaks, and had great stories to tell. Lodging was clean and comfortable and meals were good. Breakfasts were continental but there were almost always cafes and bakeries along the way to supplement if needed. We were the only American couple on the tour and it was great traveling with the Aussies and Kiwis.

I did the 10 day tour and I couldn't fault it. Our tour guide was fantastic and we saw so much of Tassie. Quality of meals provided was good/substantial and accommodation clean and comfortable. Depending on your fitness level, you could do as little or as much as you wanted. Our "Ultimate 10" 10 day tour, more than met our expectations. Everything about this tour was a wonderful experience. The choices of places to visit on this 10 day tour were varied, interesting and beautiful. Loved how we were given choice of walks also - easy/mid/or more challenging... but no matter which, they all offered a great experience or view. Coaches new, clean & comfy. Our tour guide/driver Campbell was an integral part in everyone's enjoyment of this tour. He was fun, informative, inclusive, thoughtful and entertaining.

I thoroughly recommend the UDU Ultimate-10 tour — 10 days covering so much of Tasmania, from Mt Field and Queenstown to Strahan, the wild north-west, Stanley, Cradle Mountain, Launceston, Bay of Fires, Bicheno, Freycinet, Bruny Island and Port Arthur, and lots in between. Our guide Tim was awesome, and Under Down Under were excellent throughout, from booking to final drop-off.
“A Great Way to see the Best of Tasmania”
A great way to see the best of Tasmania. Not all meals are included, but our guide had good suggestions and we always stopped somewhere with a good bakery. Some spots involve a fair bit of walking — the Dove Lake circuit (2-3 hours) and the Wineglass Bay lookout need reasonable fitness (our fit over-70s had no problem). Bruny Island brought a cheese board and some of the best oysters I've had, and our Tassie guide-driver Keygan was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and happy to share it. Thanks Under Down Under.
“The Wonder of Under Down Under in Tasmania!”
Our driver/guide Keygan (28) was knowledgeable, experienced and passionate about his home state. A comprehensive nature tour with overnight stays to make the most of the amazing scenery and wildlife in their natural habitat — wombats, pademelons, wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas and even a platypus in a Hobart stream. Walks were graded easy, medium and hard for our small group's varied ages and abilities, with fresh food (much included) and comfortable, clean accommodation and friendly service.

Spectacular scenery, made better by lovely weather — the Gordon River boat trip was out of this world, along with Wineglass Bay, the rainforests, Mt Wellington and the stunning coastline. “Best trip ever!”
Best trip ever! I went solo as a backpacker and ended up in a group of older women, and absolutely loved it — the activities and hikes flex to the group, so I did all the long hikes while others did shorter walks. Our guide Tim was amazing and could answer every question. We saw so much of the beautiful island and learned about its culture and history. I'll definitely go back to Tasmania with Under Down Under!

We loved this 10 day tour of Tassie and we really feel like we saw alot of it too. Our Tour Guide & Legend driver; Justin was amazing. His bonus stops were a real treat, his information and stories were legendary and his recommendations for top restaurants and cafes were dead on too. We had a great travel experience seeing the diversity of this great State and there was nothing too small that Justin wouldn't do to accommodate us individually or as a group along the way.

Our 10 day tour has been fantastic. Justin was forever cheerful and went out of his way to accommodate our preferences. It's so unusual to have a guide who can let the itinerary ebb and flow a bit (but still seem to get where we need to be when we need to be there). And Tassie itself is amazing. Just beautiful. I loved this holiday and I'm so sorry it's finished.
As a seasoned traveller from Perth, I booked the Ultimate 10 on a whim — and Tasmania is unbelievably amazing, with breathtaking landscapes, stunning national parks, and wildlife I'd never seen in the wild (pademelon, bare-nosed wombat, wallabies) plus rich history at Port Arthur and the Franklin River. The tour is well balanced between outdoor nature activities and towns like Richmond, and it was the only tour that covers most of Tasmania in 10 days. Our guide/driver Justin was amazing — always on time, patient, informative and thoughtful — the glue that made our group so memorable. Thanks Justin, you're a star.
“Stunning Tassie Tour”
It was time to explore Tasmania, so I compared various options to see the land down under, including self-drive choices and using my own vehicle. For the sheer simplicity, and cost effectiveness, I chose a small group 10-day tour, offered by Under Down Under Tours. The itinerary was extensive and appeared to cover all the best highlights you could possibly see in 10 days.
Mother nature was the clear star on this tour; providing stunning walks through ancient rain forests, and many promontories which showcased the rugged Tasmania coastline. To describe all the magnificent experiences provided would fill pages; for me, the cruise through Macquarie Harbour and the Gordon River, the panoramic view from Wineglass Bay look-out, Cradle Mountain and the walk around Dove Lake, in the shadow of the mountain, deserve special mention.
And, a special mention of our driver and tour guide Justin. Justin worked tirelessly to ensure that all participants on the tour enjoyed what was on offer. His commentary covering the history of the regions we were traversing and the special little anecdotes he provided made the trip just that much more interesting and educational. His enthusiastic participation certainly enhanced the enjoyment of the tour.
We recently did the Ultimate 10 around Tasmania and had a great time. Our guide Keygan was amazing — nothing was too much trouble and he had so much information to share. The only downside was that, being tall, my wife and I struggled with the legroom on the coach. Overall a most positive experience.

Absolutely amazing tour and experience! Picked up at the start of the tour and immediately made feel very welcome by our exceptional tour guide Tim. We visited so many incredibly beautiful and culturally significant locations and at all locations Tim was able to provide any detail you could have asked for. Walks were clearly explained and alternatives were always provided for those who didn't want to climb stairs or for those who wanted a more adventurous walk - do the walk even if you end up a little red-faced, the sense of achievement and the spectacular scenery are worth it! Tim's narrative in the bus on the drives between locations was well informed and helped me to fall more and more in love with Tasmania. While the tour is essentially non-stop, there was also opportunity to stop and just to relax and enjoy the view.
The motel/hotel accommodation was always clean and the added bonus of an electric blanket after a cooler day was always appreciated. Included meals were fresh with a number of options available and multiple courses on offer on an evening. On the days where we fended for our selves we were given plenty of opportunity to stop and pick up supplies, including at the southern most vineyard in Australia and plenty of ice cream stops.
The whole experience was exceptional and made even better by Tim. The tour group of likeminded travellers who wanted to see the raw beauty and history of the beautiful island added to the experience.
If I could go back right now and do the tour again I would not hesitate in doing it all again and following the other path to discover more beauty.

“Excellent Tasmania tour with UnderDownUnder”
We recently completed a 10 day tour of Tasmania with Underdownunder tours. The tour was great, giving us a good overview of the incredible scenic beauty of the island. The company was easy to work with and everything went smoothly and as advertised.
What made it really special was our guide/driver, Keygan. He is enthusiastic and has a master teacher’s ability to impart so much interesting information in a lively and entertaining way. A great sense of humor as well.
The accommodations ranged from rustic to very nice. Some of the towns we stayed in were quite small and I believe there was little choice in where to stay. All were comfortable enough. The included dinners were generally good to excellent. Breakfasts tended to be limited.
All in all I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for an extensive driving trip around the island.
“Superb tour of the best of Tasmania”
I have never been on a long tour before but at 74, I decided with my wife that this would be the best way to see Tasmania and I would not have to do any driving or organise anything. With a small group of 21 in the bus and a comprehensive itinerary what could go wrong.
As it turned out nothing other than picking up a common cold on the plane and a puncture in front right tyre of the bus, which turned out to be part of the adventure anyway.
Our tour guide and driver Keygan would be the most knowledgable and interesting person I have ever met in this role. A native Tasmanian he has an intimate knowledge of the flora and fauna, history, not just since European settlement but of the Palawa people going back thousands of years as well as contemporary modern Tasmanian issues and lifestyle. His knowledge also of the geographic and geological features of the landscape is awesome.
Anecdotes of every location flowed easily as we rounded yet another corner with a fascinating commentary interspersed with comedic notes and stories ranging from indigenous culture to bush ranger antics.
Overall it was awesome. Thanks for the experience.

One of the best tours I've done in years. Beyond the scenic beauty and the places covered, the best part was our guide Keygan — knowledgeable, witty and fun, going over and above for every person in the group. We were lucky enough to be on the 'Maiden Voyage' of this tour and with so much knowledge, helpful with bags and every other aspect you really made it easy and comfortable all the way. I Don't think wee Mumsie will forget this trip (she's 85) and although she wasn't able to complete the longer walks or those with many steps, there were many other options for us to enjoy along the way, easier walks and view points. “Super 7 Tour experience”
Completed the Super 7 tour in November 2021. Five of the seven days our group was with Ian. Ian was extremely professional and knowledgeable about every activity and hike we did on those five days. He put in his extra touch on every place we travelled to by first explaining the history of the place and how it linked with the previous activity. He also accommodated all of our additional requests. I had to make an important phone call on a packed day with limited reception and he was able to provide me a time and area for me to make that call. Furthermore, he helped the group immensely when deciding on what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I had a great time on this tour, especially at cradle mountain and wine glass bay. I would highly recommend under down under if you are looking for a way to explore most of Tasmania in an efficient way.
“Great Tassie Adventure and the Super Misty”
Excellent tour that gives you an incredible overview of great Tasmania.
Breathtaking landscapes, incredible history, fantastic wildlife and amazing people.
But all of this was just fantastic thanks to our guide Misty, definitely a superhero in disguise. Her passion and admiration for the land are contagious, always positive, funny and "humble". We all felt welcomed by her and she did more than just drive us around and shoot information, but made us also connect to what we were experiencing. And not to mention I had one of the best BIRTHDAYS EVER! Thanks to her.
The trip will take you to different landscapes, from the sunny beach to cold mountains, so be preprepared for all weather types.
Suitable for most ages, with a good mix of activities from opting for great hikes or chilling with a drink gazing at great views (we even saw a play, don't skip that one).
Accommodations were great, I stayed in private rooms with shared bathrooms, all very clean. All backpackers will have good facilities (bathroom, kitchen, laundry in most of them).
If you do the 7-day trip you will have a guide for the 5 days and two different ones, one for Porth Arthur and one for Bruny Island tours. Misty, Keigan and Rob.
The trip logistic was great, plenty of stops for bathroom runs or food, and they pick you up and drop you off by the beginning/end of tours.
The only recommendation I have is to improve the communication between the office - guide - traveller, as one girl on our trip almost lost her flight because they forgot to put in the trip planning her airport drop off (as it is an option), hope you guys refund her Uber.
But just go for it, worth every $, you will definitely have a great journey. Just "Sit back, relax, and enjoy the music!"
“FANTASTIC TOUR!”
I booked the tour as l wanted to get around Tasmania but l was not ready to hire a car. I am glad l did, as public transport is very limited in the country. We travelled in a small van (24 passengers) and we were very lucky to have an amazing guide, Jess. She drove us to the most beautiful spots, where we always had enough time to enjoy the place. She was very knowledgeable and informative. The tour is designed to take you around Tassie and there are a few optional activities available at discounted rates. I strongly recommend the River Gordon cruise, the play in Strahan and the visit to the Little Penguins protected area.
The day tours to Bruny Island and Port Arthur were very good too.
“Marvelous Misty and magical moments”
Oh my word! What an incredible tour, particularly the 5 days spent with Misty (& Phyll the bus)!
Marvelous Misty made magical memories, many magnificent moments, and a multitude mates.
Not only was she the best tour guide I've ever had the pleasure of meeting (I've been on many, many tours), she's a great poet, comedian, and now (I hope!) a lifelong friend. She couldn't do enough for all 24 of us, and worked tirelessly, far beyond the scope of her job description and the itinerary. We had a birthday boy and a couple celebrating their anniversary on our tour and she made both days so special for them. Honestly, she made every day so special for every single one of us!
Good tour guides are always special people, but Misty takes this to a whole new level. She's knowledgeable, fun, patient, generous with her time and experiences, not to mention an excellent driver. We couldn't have been in better hands. From Day One she made us all feel welcome and included. She always took time to ensure everybody on the tour was enjoying themselves, regardless of their abilities or tastes. Everywhere we went, we were greeted by the locals as though we were old friends; "Any mate of Misty's is a mate of mine".
Lover of the land, the animals, the history: just a ball of love that is completely infectious. Her positive attitude rubs off on everyone she meets. You'll be a better earthling after meeting her.
Tasmania is such a special, beautiful place, and she did it proud. We saw pademelons, wallabies, echidnas, platypusses, wombats, sea-eagles, penguins - the list is virtually endless! Wonderful walks, glorious sites around every corner, and all accompanied by interesting and informative commentary from Misty.
They're aren't enough positive superlatives in the English language to fully do her justice. I really hope Under Down Under Tours realise what an asset they've got with this simple and elegant tour guide.
“Just do it!”
How else can I sum up this tour than fantastic. Our guide Misty created a wonderful group feeling while being practical, knowledgable, accommodating, kind and funny as. I went on this tour to see the nature and wildlife of Tasmania and it did not disappoint. Each day had a number of great things such as stops to sand dunes, berry farms, waterfalls, small towns, mountains, hikes or seeing wildlife. I would recommend layers for this time of year and waterproof/hiking shoes as it can get muddy. There were a range of walk options, and people from all ages and walks of life, which made the tour that much more enjoyable. The smaller group size really sets this tour apart. The backpackers accommodation all had cooking factilities on my trip which was appreciated and any dietary requirements were accommodated during the tour. I will say the only downside was that the port arthur and bruny island trips are not with the same group/have people doing day trips which was unexpected. My trip went from East coast to West coast (a reverse itinerary) with fantastic weather and I think it was better than West to East. Thanks under down under and thanks especially to Misty for making the trip an experience I will continue to cherish with her great attitude. You won't regret seeing what Tassie has to offer!
“Highlight of my Australia experience!”
I joined the 7-Day tour through Tassie (including Bruny Island and Port Arthur) and I couldn't be more happy. Our guide through the island, Phil, did a great job keeping us motivated, happy and being really helpful with any question we would have about basically any subject. His character, knowledge and his sense of humour made the experience an unforgettable one. The places, landscapes, accommodation and the time we had to visit them was enough to feel the magic of the island. Matt, our guide for Bruny Island and Port Arthur was as well a great guide! If I had to point out something to improve would be a more comfortable bus and the accommodation in Launceston. All in all, a 100% recommendable experience!

“Fantastic first trip to Tassie”
I've just finished the Explorer 7 tour for my first time in Tassie. I had originally planned to do a self drive to these areas but now I'm very glad that I chose to travel with this company.
Our Tour guide was Keygan and I truly don't think we could have gotten a more knowledgeable, passionate or friendly guide. Keygan is a Tassie native who loves to share his knowledge of the area, its wildlife, flora, indigenous history,and agricultural, all interspersed with his funny stories. We were all laughing the entire time.
There was a variety of walks to suit different abilities, and as we were a small group we were able to take our time with most things.
The places we visited were stunning, the walks were amazing.
If I was to give any constructive feedback, I would suggest leaving a bit more time to visit the Devil Sanctuary as we only had a short time there.
Please also note that we only had 4 people on this trip and I'm not sure that I would have enjoyed it quite so much had the bus been fuller.

In January 2020 I joined in Hobart the 7 day Tasmania tour. It was my first visit to Tasmania and I wanted to see the island. The tour was very enjoyable and met all my expectations. It was a nice group of 24 people (mix of young/older people and different nationalities, backpackers and holiday people).
The first 5 days the guide/driver was Sid. Very nice guy and good guide. Lots of information and interesting or remarkable facts he told us about the island. Very patient and friendly he was to the group members and listened to requests for stops etc. And he had a great selection of music on his ipod that he played on the bus. Every day he was very informative about daily program, where to buy food for lunch, have a cup of coffee or nice place to have dinner at night. And he suggested to buy fresh oysters somewhere and they were delicious!
Last 2 days our guide was Loraine: very good guide too and nice lady!
This tour gave a good impression of beautiful Tasmania and we were lucky with the weather conditions.. It was very well organised and I enjoyed it very much!.

“Superb tour!”
Really full on week with a small coach load of international tourists. Great fun getting to know them en route. Our guide fir 5 days, Phil, was knowledgeable and entertaining, taking good care of the group. We had Trent as our guide for the last 2 days and he took us to many foodie places as well as historical site.
It was a brilliant way of seeing Tasmanias best bits.

“Great value for money, Tas is a must”
Loved the trip to Tas, managed to squeeze a lot in 7 days. We had Sam as a guide for the 5-day component. He had great knowledge of the areas and history, was very informative, and looked after us all really well. We stayed in the motels and they were really good. Some great hikes, beautiful scenery but also accommodated those on a tight budget. Don't miss the Gordon River Cruise and the play in the evening at Strahan is also a very entertaining addition. It was great to be able to do a group tour and actually travel during COVID. We did the 2 days from Hobart with Rob as our guide, he was also very experienced and attentive. Bruny Island was very pretty, with plenty to see and I actually found Port Arthur really interesting as well.

Tasmania itself is an amazing destination and I think that it is impossible not to fall in love with this Island. Even though this could make their job easier, somehow they exceeded expectations.

Matt, on my day tour to Port Arthur. He gave us all the best information about the places where we've stopped and, besides that, he also helped me with tips to take the best photos on the best spots!
Sid was our guide on the 5 days tour. He was very professional. We were 24, an amazing group, different ages and Countries, and it could have been hard to manage, but he did it very well.
Loraine was our guide on the day tour to Bruny Island and it was a lovely day. She gave us not only info abou the places but also many tips about restaurants and cultural events along the year.

What a great experience! I made friends for life, visited the best places in Tasmania and did so much in just seven days. Loz, our tour guide was knowledgeable, fun, helpful and faultless. I would recommend this trip for anyone of any age, we had people from 18 to 60 and we all got on famously. Really great trip at a great value, would do again.

Then you really need to do this trip with Under Down Under! Paid for the basics trip (youth hostel-type accommodation) but barely noticed any difference from motel-style sleeping. Evan's attention to detail, the comprehensive itinerary, and the excellent local knowledge kept us safe, informed, relaxed, fit and jolly. Highly recommended. Seriously, I'm happier now than I was a week ago. You will be too.
“Superb trip with great guide”
We enjoyed this trip thoroughly. Our guide, Jacob, was very friendly and went out of his way to make the trip enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable and fun. We were a middle aged couple and chose the motel option which was very good. Jacob had optional activities for everyone and made sure we were all happy.

Super 7 tour started on 24th to 30th December 2019.
Accomodation:
Felt overall the standard of accomodation in hostels was quite low for what was paid for the tour. Some hostels were better than others.
I personally felt the hostel owner of the accommodation at Strahan 'Strahan backpackers' was an eccentric character who was overfamiliar and inappropriate with his comments, especially towards myself and some of the females. He imposed hugs and kisses on some females on Christmas day and some of his comments had sexual references and connotations. A lot of this wad laughed off by many as his humour but I found it inappropriate. He lacked boundaries and wasn't professional, however probably meant well and was keen for everyone to feel at home in his hostel.
The kitchen in the hostel in Launceston was dirty and not very comfortable to use. The rooms were shabby.
The hostel in Biheno was very small 8 bed dormitory which was a challenge to sleep in and was noisy.
The Hobart hostel was YHA which had a constantly dirty kitchen and was noisy till 12pm due to the independent pub below hostel. Street noise of cars was also present from early morning.
Mishaps:
The luggage trailer was left open on day one, no fault of tour guide. However, due to going back 15km of the route taken to search for lost luggage (not found) and returning same route we had driven more and consequently the bus ran out of diesel. This was christmas eve and so we arrived at accomodation much later than planned and some travellers could not go to pub to get dinner as it was closed.
The tour after day one went downhill as it seemed the negativity of this event impacted the tour guide, which he acknowledged.
Tour itinerary and tour guide experience:
Itinerary was good and a lot was covered. What let the the day down was the frequent long toilet breaks every hour. It felt that these were so frequent so that the tour guide could smoke every hour. Would have been more helpful to ask if we wanted a toilet break and to stop if we did. The tour guide conducted his personal affairs ie banking whilst on toilet break and then still had a smoke which meant we were all waiting for him to finish even though toilets had been used and we were all waiting for him. This scenario multiple times reduced time in our day that could have been spent on sights. On one occasional tour guide was brushing good teeth outside our mini van st departure time of just past 7.30am. He didn't seem prepared as you'd expect tour guide to be. He also provided basic information about places and more engagement would have been appreciated. Didn't feel like a professional tour service but someone just driving us around and dropping us off at sights. His manner sometimes was sarcastic and had a negative tone. We had asked him to be more engaging with us which was us voicing our desire to have more input from him on tour and not just drive us around.
Breakfast:
Cereal, milk, bread, jams, peanut butter, margarine, yoghurt and hot drinks. Fruit would have been appreciated. Sometimes we set up our own breakfast from the container and packed it away as tour guide hadn't and was either still asleep or not around.
Last 2 days in Hobart:
The last 2 days were day tours from Hobart with a different female tour guide - Loz. She was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed these days as they were high quality tour days.
Overall impressions:
Impressive itinerary and sights, but overall experience let down by the tour guide we had. Most of the group felt the same way I did as described as we regularly discussed our feelings. I personally wouldn't recommend this tour to others unless the standard of the tour was definitely more professional and timings of the tour were more strictly kept to in order to maximise time at sights and get more out of our days.

Tasmania itself is an amazing destination and I think that it is impossible not to fall in love with this Island. Even though this could make their job easier, somehow they exceeded expectations.

Matt, on my day tour to Port Arthur. He gave us all the best information about the places where we've stopped and, besides that, he also helped me with tips to take the best photos on the best spots!
Sid was our guide on the 5 days tour. He was very professional. We were 24, an amazing group, different ages and Countries, and it could have been hard to manage, but he did it very well.

“FANTASTIC TOUR!”
I booked the tour as l wanted to get around Tasmania but l was not ready to hire a car. I am glad l did, as public transport is very limited in the country. We travelled in a small van (24 passengers) and we were very lucky to have an amazing guide, Jess. She drove us to the most beautiful spots, where we always had enough time to enjoy the place. She was very knowledgeable and informative. The tour is designed to take you around Tassie and there are a few optional activities available at discounted rates. I strongly recommend the River Gordon cruise, the play in Strahan and the visit to the Little Penguins protected area.
The day tours to Bruny Island and Port Arthur were very good too.
“Highlight of my Australia experience!”
joined the 7-Day tour through Tassie (including Bruny Island and Port Arthur) and I couldn't be more happy. Our guide through the island, Phil, did a great job keeping us motivated, happy and being really helpful with any question we would have about basically any subject. His character, knowledge and his sense of humour made the experience an unforgettable one. The places, landscapes, accommodation and the time we had to visit them was enough to feel the magic of the island. Matt, our guide for Bruny Island and Port Arthur was as well a great guide! If I had to point out something to improve would be a more comfortable bus and the accommodation in Launceston. All in all, a 100% recommendable experience!
“Super 7 Tour experience”
Completed the Super 7 tour in November 2021. Five of the seven days our group was with Ian. Ian was extremely professional and knowledgeable about every activity and hike we did on those five days. He put in his extra touch on every place we travelled to by first explaining the history of the place and how it linked with the previous activity. He also accommodated all of our additional requests. I had to make an important phone call on a packed day with limited reception and he was able to provide me a time and area for me to make that call. Furthermore, he helped the group immensely when deciding on what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I had a great time on this tour, especially at cradle mountain and wine glass bay. I would highly recommend under down under if you are looking for a way to explore most of Tasmania in an efficient way.

I did the 7 day tour in November 2021 and it was amazing! It was really well organised and we fitted in heaps of activities and saw lots of beautiful sights. We had Ian as our tour guide for 5 days of the tour and he was great. He was really informative and knowledgeable and taught us a lot of facts, and would always go out of his way to help us and make the tour an awesome experience! I would definitely recommend Under Down Under tours.
“Fantastic first trip to Tassie”
I've just finished the Explorer 7 tour for my first time in Tassie. I had originally planned to do a self drive to these areas but now I'm very glad that I chose to travel with this company.
Our Tour guide was Keygan and I truly don't think we could have gotten a more knowledgeable, passionate or friendly guide. Keygan is a Tassie native who loves to share his knowledge of the area, its wildlife, flora, indigenous history,and agricultural, all interspersed with his funny stories. We were all laughing the entire time.
There was a variety of walks to suit different abilities, and as we were a small group we were able to take our time with most things.
The places we visited were stunning, the walks were amazing.
If I was to give any constructive feedback, I would suggest leaving a bit more time to visit the Devil Sanctuary as we only had a short time there.
Please also note that we only had 4 people on this trip and I'm not sure that I would have enjoyed it quite so much had the bus been fuller.
“Great value for money, Tas is a must”
Loved the trip to Tas, managed to squeeze a lot in 7 days. We had Sam as a guide for the 5 day component. He had great knowledge on the areas and history, very informative and looked after us all really well. We stayed in the motels and they were really good. Some great hikes, beautiful scenery but also accommodated those on a tight budget. Don't miss the Gordon River Cruise and the play in the evening at Strahan is also a very entertaining addition. It was great to be able to do a group tour and actually travel during COVID. We did the 2 days from Hobart with Rob as our guide, he was also very experienced and attentive. Bruny Island was very pretty, plenty to see and I actually found Port Arthur really interesting as well.

What a brilliant tour! Our tour guide Matt was so friendly, funny and approachable, he was obviously extremely passionate and knowledgeable about Tasmania and that really enhanced our adventure. He supported every one of our group to achieve all the activities we wanted to be a part of. Tasmania itself is stunning! If you’ve never been I highly recommend going! The tour takes you to all the major highlights, and then some. Be prepared for lots of early mornings and extreme variations of weather. Best part of the trip, in my opinion, was climbing mount Amos for a birds eye view of wine glass bay. The climb was really challenging but so worth it, and the whole way up I felt supported by Matt and the rest of our group. I also met so many lovely people on this tour. Don’t hesitate, this trip was worth every penny!

“Fijne tour”
In January 2020 I joined in Hobart the 7 day Tasmania tour. It was my first visit to Tasmania and I wanted to see the island. The tour was very enjoyable and met all my expectations. It was a nice group of 24 people (mix of young/older people and different nationalities, backpackers and holiday people).
The first 5 days the guide/driver was Sid. Very nice guy and good guide. Lots of information and interesting or remarkable facts he told us about the island. Very patient and friendly he was to the group members and listened to requests for stops etc. And he had a great selection of music on his ipod that he played on the bus. Every day he was very informative about daily program, where to buy food for lunch, have a cup of coffee or nice place to have dinner at night. And he suggested to buy fresh oysters somewhere and they were delicious!
Last 2 days our guide was Loraine: very good guide too and nice lady!
This tour gave a good impression of beautiful Tasmania and we were lucky with the weather conditions.. It was very well organised and I enjoyed it very much!.

Really full on week with a small coach load of international tourists. Great fun getting to know them en route. Our guide fir 5 days, Phil, was knowledgeable and entertaining, taking good care of the group. We had Trent as our guide for the last 2 days and he took us to many foodie places as well as historical site.
It was a brilliant way of seeing Tasmanias best bits.
